ITT: You're just ignoring anything but how the "printed gil" affects things. You're not thinking of anything else.

LOL rich people aren't farming atomos, that is for plebes.
Hopefully now everyone has a bunch of gil to burn they'll want materia again and I'll finally get a Twelve-damned spiritbond party in Natalan to finish my last couple of classes sitting at 45ish because Atomos killed Caravan and Natalan spiritbond parties which used to make getting 40-50 a lot nicer.
It's not fair, but it's also not realistic that they're going to do a rollback either. They're putting measures in place to stop it from happening anymore, but the damage has been done. I just hope this doesn't have too negative of an impact on the economy in 2.0 since a lot of people are going to have a lot more money than they normally would have.
I guess your definition of plebes is people that don't want to craft forever or go farm forever.
It's not that I'm disagreeing, it's that they're only hurting people who just now are joining it. If they really gave two shits about the economy they'd do more than nerf atomos/dawn drop. That's my two cents.
Good news, there has been a lack of material and items on the auction house due to Atomos camping so this will force people to actually start making stuff again which should ease out the inflation period.
The thing with Atomos was that it wasn't the fastest way to make gil. Far from it. However, it was the easiest way to make gil for people which led people to it like flies to shit. Crafting the right stuff or even farming could produce more GPH (gil-per-hour) than Atomos farming could when you take into effect time and all the other variables.
That being said all I used Atomos farming for was to get one of the last 25k weapons I needed. Didn't really need it for anything else.
It's not exactly going to help, it's just going to reshuffle money around at an inflated rate. Cobalt arrows were averaging 40k per stack on my server before the event. Then they ran out, someone started listing them for 100k a stack and they were selling. I haven't logged in since the Atomos event so I have no clue how screwed the economy is on my server.
just please go away child. your exploit is going to be taken care of so go call someone that cares.
i'm sorry to act this way towards another member, but when coming in and crying then directing profanity towards others expect to be treated like a spoiled child and nothing more.
I've gotta laugh ant anyone who honestly thought this exploit wasn't going to go away. Let's call a spade a spade, this was clearly an exploit, and as such it was never going to stay in the game for long.
What I want to know at this point is, how many people got stuck holding the bag? How many people have piles and piles of crystals after maintenance because they thought they'd be worth millions/billions for the rest of the games life-cycle?
Yes True it does generate extra Gil but cannot call it an exploit seeing as their is an achievement for gaining 500k gc seals which cannot be obtained without going through your stack of 50k seals at least 10 different times which means you have to buys things and you will also have to sell some of the things you buy
makes no difference whether or not they are getting gil or not they are still going to get hit by a 90% reduction of that said gil so let them think that they are actually making money when they are not why do you care so much ?
as stated in this post http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...748#post831748
SE can save everyone from the speculation train if they just release info earlier on the fixes. Oh yeah and not cut into NA's Prime time. It wouldn't kill em to do it on JP prime time for once.
Pretty sure it wasn't intended to do that achievement within a period of three days either. Some achievements like that are long term.
And it does matter, because there are guaranteed to be people generating money they would have never had just due to their normal activities. Some people refuse to craft and gather and would have had to make that money from alternative means and probably at a much slower rate. Now with them having this much more money, they have more buying power which can have the potential to drive up prices if the supply is not high enough to meet demand.
I really don't think you understand how that reduction is going to work. If everything is getting reduced by 9/10ths, and everything is - vendor price, rewards, leve gil, item cost, current gil in game - then it still has the exact same value. It's only scaled down by one digit. The only unknown factor is the user market, and while people may be trying to sell everything at 1.0 prices at first eventually undercutting and market competition will balance it out.
So, to answer your question, I care because it's broken and I don't want the in-game economy to become any more of a mess than it already is.
Edit: Okay, seriously? From that link you decided to edit into your post.

They should have shut this down the first time they hotfixed it by making dawn drops npc price 1 gil each if they were going to do anything about it.
The thing I don't understand is if this is an obvious exploit why would they sit there for almost a damn week and "watch" (based on the wording of the post by Yoshi on this topic) billions of gil enter the economy every couple of days then decide a week later wake up "oops we done goofed."
They need to handle stuff like this and Garuda better.
actually this is just completely wrong in many ways.
1. the economy has driven up prices due to this event.
2. the price hike will carry over til 2.0 because that is the starting point.
3. this has been treated like a stimulus package by many, but the truth about a stimulus is that they are short term economy boosts with long term negative side effects.
4. people have alot more gil then they should have because they were using the printing press to magically make more gil go into the game than was going out. this is long term inflation no matter how you look at it.
That's some pretty impressive clairvoyance you have there.
Wonder what game you've been playing for the last two years. Because it sure as hell isn't the same one as me.
If you want to take advantage of the massive gil generation from Atomos then just admit it, but don't try and come up with a flimsy justification for it. You people act like it's comparable to someone catching you with porn or something.
I agree. They need to do their due diligence and think about the consequences of events like these BEFORE they make it to the players.
As soon as the GC seals were released the first question that was asked in my LS was "how can I turn these seals into gil?" Buy drops and trade them to an npc was the answer. Atmos just made it MUCH more appealing to spend time doing that.
i agree with you that they need to handle it better, but i have a feeling yoshi was, once again, clueless and thought people would run it like a fad for a week and then go back to normal. he needs to start realizing what he is dealing with as far as the players. any advantage he leaves in game is going to be exploited as much as possible.
That happens in any MMORPG lol. If the developers give the players an opportunity, they will pounce on it.
I am Yoshida producer / director. Thank you for your feedback related to a number of Atmos. Had been observing the data (including reduction of replacement military scrip Gill) Gill emissions in the development side, it is a state emissions military scrip Gil / that is equal to or greater than currently envisaged. Therefore, it would be adjusted again, on top of the maintenance, tomorrow morning I am going to let me apply the HOT FIX. HOT FIX main intention is as follows. - Adjustment of emissions ⇒ Gill price adjustments Gil store sales of replacement military currency adjustment medal count military currency per unit of time by reducing the cycle emergence ⇒ adjusting the frequency of decision emergence - Atmos around Atmos that is located on the level range, low- ⇒ low level adjustment band conductors monster removal of the contents of Atmos reward without touching, we decided to adjust the balance of the whole. We apologize for the inconvenience but to everyone of the players, thank you.
here si the maintenance details so now everyone can stop speculating
Nobody is speculating. We all knew about the post already.
This is gonna sound mean, but whatever. Do you even read other posts before you type stuff up? The way you edited in that link that completely invalidated your point a little while ago is making me wonder.
not trying to take advantage of any gil making theme still at 400k gil up to date i could care less whether or not i have gil or not... Makes no difference to me i have everything that i want or need up to this point hence being part of a team ... gil cannot buy you skill you can be the richest person on the game and still not have a clue on how to do majority of teh things in this game ...
So now you're implying I'm a lone wolf and a bad player, huh? That's cute.
It's clear that you're just throwing out random statements and hoping some will stick rather than trying to actually argue your point, so I think I'm done. Have a nice day.
Yeah, same here. I laughed when I saw the notice for it and was like "well, Atomos is gonna be pretty empty now".
My plan for the gil reduction in 2.0 is actually quite simple i will be draining my gil down to "ZERO" which means they cannot reduce me any further than i will be at ...
so that squashes your theory on me wanting to keep this way of earning gil in the game right there ... I do not care either way and nor do i care to sit here and argue with morons about things that are broken when there is always something that will be broken nothing you or anyone can do to stop that from happening..
