Bought the OST :)
We need an alternative download for none iSheep. I will never buy an apple product, therefore iTunes download is out of the question, why cut people out like this.
iTunes is not bad at all. I use it for my music since it's all in AAC audio, which has more clarity than MP3; it's like HD for music. I buy most of my music from iTunes, too, and I can't find this kind of music in stores (you can only find it at Hallmark, museums, aquariums, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and such). Only iTunes has it and the music is reasonably priced. Plus there are tons of Final Fantasy music on iTunes.
The thing is its owned by Apple, who I hate with a passion, they can't win through competition only law suites, they over charge on everything they make and get away with it.
Also I'm not sure if my phone will support the format, windows definitely not (without crap tunes). The only reason people use iTunes is because they have an iPhone, iPad or iPod and it's the only way they can do anything.
Making this iTunes exclusive is just going to force people to pirate it, but if SE wants to loose money like this eh its up to them.
You still haven't told me why I should buy from Apple, a company that hasn't earned their money, they got it through lying, over pricing, stealing, exploiting laws, and probably bribery.
They are the worst company around and unless you can tell me why they deserve my money I may reconsider, when all the iSheep open their eyes Apple will go rotten and die.
Also part of the reason I own an Android phone is so I am not a slave to apple, you want to copy files to your PC iTunes onry, you want to send something via bluetooth I hope your friend has an iPhone etc etc etc etc. This is a sign of a monopolizing untrustworthy company. On my phone I can do what I want when I want, I can copy files without any software installed, I can send files to whoever I want.
I used to hate Apple and iTunes, too. What got me to use iTunes was that for me, it was the only way for me to burn music CDs and have no gaps between songs. I own some music that have continuous play after each track (nature-music albums that have no spaces between songs, such as ocean CDs and such), and so it's good to have iTunes for that. Windows Media Player can't do that for me. Plus it's very easy to organize music on iTunes, moreso than WMP. The first Apple product I bought was the iPhone 4S. I didn't buy it because of Apple, but the capabilities, the uses of apps, being able to use my music from iTunes, and such. I didn't mind the price because the device just had a lot of capabilities. I don't like Google, though. I also like Apple in a sense because Steve Jobs founded Pixar, and I love Disney movies.
So trust me, iTunes isn't a bad service. I am not a fanboy as I both like Apple and Microsoft. I just don't like Google for some reason (mainly because it's very easy to hack Android and get viruses and I've had issues with my old Galaxy S because of Android having problems on the phone). So yeah...
Here's why Apple are untrustworthy. 2 months ago they patented things like a rectangular phone with rounded corners, they patented pinch to zoom (both of which were around long before apple) apple didn't invent these but got their patents granted, then they sue Samsung for infringing these 2 month old patents on devices that were made before this patent was granted, and the jury walked out with new iPhones and iPads.
Apple force you to do things their way iTunes onry, sending files to iPhone onry, this makes you tell others to get the phone if you want to send them files, its a very dirty way to use an open standard. Apple also force you to use the phone how they want, oh and an FBI laptop got hacked which has a load of security codes for iPhones, so any iPhone can be hacked over the web instantly.
Lets not forget I have never had malicious software on my Android phones, they work perfectly, any problems in the software are easy to fix, or are updated fast, Apple's vetting is absolute shit, viruses have got through before now, I have heard of more iPhone viruses than Android.
Apple just hold you back, I like having a phone I can flash firmware whenever I want, I love my NFC, I will love my 4g when UK starts using it, I love my turn by turn navigation, I love my 4.8" screen, I love my 1.4GHz quad core cpu.... need anything else android can do that apple can't?
Hey everyone! Happy Friday!
Soken from the Sound Team wrote an entry on the Square Enix Music Blog deeply apologizing for the issues related to the Eorzean Frontiers soundtrack and is providing players with a free song to download, which is not on the soundtrack! It can be downloaded here. :) Enjoy!
How do I download it? it says I need QuickTime 7 Pro :(
Of all the track, they choose this one
thumbs up guys
Will there be any plans to offer this album/music pack on Amazon mp3?
I don't use Apple products in general and have desire to use Itunes due to the locked nature/limited devices it works on without having to burn and rerip everything.
I would much rather buy it at Amazon and use it on my device of choice.
If that can be considered it would be greatly appreciated.
I am betting this was a Knee sock related goof up.
You never convert from lossy to lossy, SQ can degrade. If apple sold ALAC or PCM WAV versions of tracks I would buy.
I wish the "major" retailers would offer this kind of service for audio downloads.
I don't care what apple has done or does now with patents etc etc, I just want quality whenever I buy something especially when it comes to audio.
I know I'm not the only audiophile in this forum!
/lookout
Just wanted to say Phantoms on the Lake is god tier- nice knowing what this stuff is called.
for some reason i cant seem to find this on the Australian itunes store :(
Oh, the software is awesome. Like I said, I use it to download YouTube videos as well. I just downloaded the 25th Final Fantasy Anniversary video that was released today in 1080p. I can watch it whenever I want. Plus I downloaded the Limit Break trailer as well and put it on my iPhone so I can show it off to people :P
Actually hacking an Iphone, or most phones, was pretty easy before that laptop was compromised. Now it just means it's half a step easier to do so. This is especially true with jailbroken phones, unless if you add a firewall and what-not (because you're more or less giving the hacker admin credentials, at this point).
The second comment just reminds me how people thought Macs were safe from viruses...then it turned to less likely to get viruses...and now we have specific malware and viruses targeted directly for macs, and in all honesty the risk is just the same. The same could potentially be said for Android vs. Iphones...but there's a few variables. For example, it could just be that every 9 year old and his creepy uncle have Iphones, just because it has an Apple logo on it. When you're a hacker (or penetration tester...giggity), what better thing to work on than the most popular phone out? Especially little Timmy's phone, cause who doesn't like dumping inappropriate pictures on a kid's phone and getting him in trouble?
but I digress, my career is showing, sorry ^.^
The full "disc" of Eorzean Frontiers is over 3 hours long...good luck burning that onto a CD that only has 70-80 minutes :P I just have the whole album on my iPhone with the added song Soken just released on the SE blog. If you want the CD collection, you'll have to buy the 4 CDs that make up the whole Eorzean Frontiers off iTunes. Tough luck not wanting to purchase from there, because that's where SE publishes all of their music on. I was lucky and found the original Japanese OST of FFX at a comic book store, so good luck finding a physical copy other than Amazon ;)
Square is not exclusive to iTunes for their albums, they often sell CD collections but mainly in Japan. Often you have to import them from retailers that specific deals with international orders or buy directly from amazon.jp
Again if apple sold a lossless versions of tracks for proper archiving & CD burning I would buy this set immediately.
I can confirm with you that having music as AAC quality is nearly as good as lossless audio quality. As I've mentioned on this thread, I have a collection of music with nature sounds. With Bose headphones connecting to my iPhone (I put the AAC audio at 128kbps, which is the same as 256kbps for MP3), I can REALLY hear what is going on in the audio background. Like with the nature recordings, I can hear a ton of different birds and wildlife in the background of the target nature recordings you are supposed to hear along with the music; even listening to a thunderstorm recording sounds like you are outside in an actual one. But when I play music via iTunes on my desktop computer, I have 4 speakers situated around the basement so you can be immersed in audio for when music is playing. You wouldn't believe the audio quality; it's like a concert. I can't get the same effect when playing off Windows Media Player. I like it when I play FFXIV on the desktop with the speakers; it feels like you are actually in the game, too.
But yeah, just give iTunes a try. You don't even have to buy music or pay for it, just try to put your own music on there. My only gripe about iTunes is that when you have music playing continuously on there, it eats up the memory (on my laptop it does, not on the desktop for some reason). I wouldn't go back to using the MP3 format after using AAC.
Oh, and iTunes music isn't DRM protected anymore. It hasn't been for several years now.
Oh you can clearly hear the imperfections with the format iTunes use with the proper equipment.
Run your files through a good external DAC to a tube amp to a quality set of headphones, in my case the Beyerdynamic DT 990 or T1 600ohm.
You will then see lossy isn't as good as the original disc, vinyl or lossless file.
I tried searching all Final Fantasy music on iTunes over the weekend and there's nothing at all listed for XIV.
So why not put it up on SE's own online store on their website?
If they can sell a PC version of FFVII online...
This is another reason why rooted android > JB iPhone, in rooted android you get a superuser prompt if an app requires root access (full admin rights for none linux people) this is how linux is designed, iPhone however will not prompt and just give the whole phone admin rights (please correct me if I'm wrong) which increases security a lot.
I aren't saying android is immune to malware I even have security software on my phone, just I have heard a lot more of iPhone getting malware more than android, also iPhone is no where near the most popular phone, virus's attack software so that's what matters, and android has the market on that, iOS is second, but a long way back, why do you think Apple goes to courts to get money now, they know they cannot compete fairly with android.
Mac virus's cause huge problems because when people made them they had no security software, so the malware ran rampant, also Apple had no idea how to deal with it, and security patches were slow, Apple has actually given control of Java for Mac security patches to sun because they have no idea what to do after the last back door.
tl;dr Apple don't know how to handle malware, whereas android does.
....still no word on a hard copy of this soundtrack? Is it really that hart to publish hard copies? I know nothing of these things.
To: Forum Representatives,
Please ask if Square can release the New Final Fantasy XIV Soundtrack on CD.
Even if it's Import Only (Japan), we can at least order it via Amazon, etc.
Thanks! :)
Yah... i also want a physical copy of this
