Please remove housing lottery and make some other way of house acquisition.

Hah, now I remember someone who claimed they got scammed/robbed by someone, but it turns out they had an auto-clicker trying to bid on the same plot over a period of time and the person who had won the plot put their retainer there and just sold a load of things at very expensive prices that the auto-clicker ended up buying.

i tried this, after i won plot and the single other guy by the placard kept on. to their luck, they had just right flavour of dumber or smarter clicker.
it kept interacting with retainer, so i couldn't move it until the human woke up to their defeat and buzzed off.

one of two plots i won in that era: with that one i checked the interesting free plots in evening, had good night sleep and for breakfast checked which ones out of the interesting ones were still free. less than 2 hours of clicking.

the other one was just blind chance and luck, 15 minutes of clicking.

I wont say this isn't true to some extent, but I would hope they keep the wards (at least the ones that are there) and put the insranced housing up in addition to the wards
Especially lately tho, our FC is starting to hang out around the FC house, but aside from a member that got a small plot right by our FC we have not met a single member in our neighborhood.

I think maybe if they implement insranced housing, maybe it is a big condo or something, and each floor is like a hallway with several room entrances and they have a mb and retainer bell in the hallway? That could simulate some sort of community elements that are typical of wards? Just some thoughts.

I fully agree they should have instanced housing separate from the ward houses (or at the very least majorly overhaul apartments) so that those who just want to build a place to live and invite their friends over can do that. But people who have put a lot of time and work into their clubs, bars, restaurants, etc. and other social RP scenes can still keep their houses and host art parties, themed events, or simply provide the space for people to gather and RP. We may not see many actual people out and about in our neighborhoods, but there's generally always something going on somewhere, and I think losing THAT is the main fear a lot of people who don't want to lose the social aspects of wards have.

I still have not yet to hear a good reason to remove the lottery... please give me a reason, so I can debunk it for you fair and square.

1 gets lucky and the chances is equal for all including the winner.... start small is my advice higher chance... then have the lottery work for anything above, but to be honest from y experience having a roof over the head is really nice no matter what... been here for almost 9 and a half years or there about myself.

The problem is it's not really equal for all anymore. People are actively gaming the system by having alts or other accounts ALSO bid. Which makes them considerably more likely to actually get the house in the first place. Unless Square does something to fix that, those who play fairly and don't cheat will always be at a disadvantage.

The problem with that argument though is until they DO crack down on alts and housing, there isn't a better system anyway. Any possible system you can think of is going to get abused by alts and it'll be worse than what we have now. This is really a completely separate issue, one they refuse to fix by simply imposing a hard "one house per server for every paid account" rule.

Essentially, the lottery is going to be the most fair system regardless of whether alts are involved or not.

Then we're back to finding a way to give EVERYONE a guaranteed house regardless of what server they're on. Because the people who are frustrated by the cheating and randomness aren't wrong for being frustrated, and clearly Square has no intention of that kind of crackdown, so regardless of whether the system is objectively fair in a perfect world we're still going to go in constant circles until something changes.

You misunderstand me. I'm not saying the current system is good or that people shouldn't be frustrated. You have every right to be frustrated, I was for YEARS until I finally got lucky. What I'm saying is the lottery isn't the problem, the lottery in a vacuum is going to be the most fair system regardless of any other factors and this includes alts. That being said the alts ARE the problem. The reason people can't get a house is because we have entire housing wards owned by ONE person, there are people out here who don't rest until every alt they own has a house and some who make more alts just to buy more houses. The alts are the problem. If you direct your anger at a perfectly fair lottery system instead of the real estate tycoons buying up entire wards for themselves you aren't going to change anything. While it may seem SE currently has no intentions to crack down on the alts, if the community makes a big enough stink about them they won't have any choice but to address it.

No "nicer" plots for sprouts. That's fairness.

The root problem is the limited availability. There’s not enough plots on a world for everyone who wants one, and most people aren’t interested in the hassles of transferring to go get a house on the few empty worlds and have to DC travel just to do basic content. So there’s any number of ideas, and some here are promising, to make the current system hurt a little less, but the overall problem is the same. Which is why they should add an instanced system to supplement the limited supply of the wards. Everyone gets a fully functional housing plot - indoors and outdoors. If you want a special spot in the existing neighborhoods, then you can endure the lotto.

From the OP’s post, the queue system sounds interesting, but how does the game decide who gets the plot if there are multiple people queuing for it? Back to lotto RNG… and would that be just a particular plot? Or also the ward? Because you could be waiting a long time for one of the more popular ones to even open up. While I like the idea of people who’ve played longer/more often getting some kind of priority, especially when upgrading, it does seem like it would be hard for them to implement.

The auction system would just prioritize players with lots of gil that can easily outbid the average player, and I don’t see a way that abuse could be controlled. I play the game every day, and have for years. I think the most gil I’ve had at once is like 75 mil, but I usually hover between 30-50, because I spend it! lol Thankfully my dream plot is a small, because I’d be broke going for anything else, especially in a bidding war.

The pity system just isn’t going to help as much as people would like it to. A house gets 200 bidders. 1 person wins, the other 199 have the same amount of pity going into the next lotto. There’s just too many people competing for the same limited supply to make much of a difference.

Honestly I just wish they’d bring back auto-relocation. It could still work with the lotto, just make it only work during results period. If a house is freed up during the claiming period, you can auto-relo instantly if you see it first. Then the plot you left behind goes into the next cycle, so there’s the same number of plots going into the next lotto cycle regardless. Then you still have the same amount of chance for new and old players alike, but those looking to upgrade aren’t having to compete against a new crop of players every lotto.

Just abandon Housing in this game, and don't stress urself with a crappy game design.

Rewriting the entire housing system would be a massive undertaking, essentially requiring a complete overhaul. Moreover, it would likely have a noticeable impact on those who already own plots and houses.

Bring back the placard system where you had to stand around a house for up to 24 real hours while a random rng timer happened and you'll be on your knees praising the lottery.

Yeah and don't forget that you HAVE to click on a small because your chances of getting a Medium or Large is essentially 0.

The lottery system is just as bad and frustrating as plot camping from before, but without the unhealthy play it promoted.

I think the auto demolition would be fine if we had a 100% sure way to get a house again when we decide to come back to XIV after a few years away. Right now the lottery just exacerbates the bad side of the auto-demolition, the bad side of losing the gil sink you invested in purchasing the plot, and the loss of every furnishing inside if you didn't plan to take a break from the game or simply forgot about taking them out.

If nothing is done, at least they could make apartments more attractive. A bigger option for a layout.

honestly 1 of 2 things needs to happen. Apartments Need to have size options that u have to pay for like comparable prices but take off due to not having front lawn, and next 2. Create an instance Zone for housing where 1 house only...........

So long as we have an Executive Producer who puts his ego in front of the player-base reality of the game, you won't see this change any time soon. We don't have instanced housing because that's what Yoshi-P wants - he wants those vibrant, active neighborhoods where people are seen interacting with each other on a daily basis.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen neighbors of the vast number of years I've had a house, and one of those times was with just guild mates at the same spot - the free company house.

He frankly needs to get over that neighborhood feeling, utilize the structure we have in place now and instance housing, so this stops being an entire community sore spot.

This is not really a solution unless someone only cares about housing. Doing any group activity there is a real pain. I made characters there and have all abandoned them as well as their houses. If you want to do something with a group, you have to DC travel and that means no FC, no retainers, no Market Board, no bonuses, no linkshell with your DC friends, no use of your house, just a lot of limitations plus the DC you may want to travel to can be full. And when SE implements travel restrictions, it's like being banished to an empty land.

And why are there travel restrictions? Because NA prefers to play on servers that are overcrowded. Do you not see the problem? You could establish a new culture on Dynamis, but you don't want to.

I wouldn't transfer to Dynamis if they made my sub free for a year.

I'm on Diabolos which I think is a reasonably "medium" server in terms of population, not completely overcrowded but certainly not empty. As soon as I had the capital to do so I was able to get a Small House simply by checking Lav Beds and seeing which ones had no bids on them the day before the end of the bidding phase. I won the bid on my house by default, literally no one else bid and there were tons of other houses with the same situation, only a single bidder. All this to say, there are houses out there. The problem is more that everyone wants a Medium/Large house, or at least that's how it seems, but people need to recognize that those houses are a rare luxury by design - not intended to be in everyone's pocket. It's a bit like the Large Cackpot jackpot minion (whatever it's called), few people have one and it's 100% luck based. Housing lottery is the same deal, fully luck, fully fair to everyone in the sense that your odds of winning a house draw is exactly equal to every other person who bid. As for the bots, ok yea that's a problem but that's more of a cheat/exploit that needs to be fixed, it's not something wrong with the lottery system itself.

All this to say, I think the lottery system is fine. I'll keep trying to bid on M houses if/when they show up in a location I like and if I win, cool, if I don't, meh I'm ok with my small house. It does what it needs to.

Duh! It's SE that puts them up when there is too much traffic and not vice versa. They only allow travel to Dynamis and Materia like when 7.0 was released. You are really funny: propose Dynamis which is not a solution and blame players for playing in NA? Why would anyone want abandon their FC and comms with friends to go to an unpopulated server that was never allowed the chance to grow due to SE's practices unless all they care about is housing.

Congrats on that. But a lot of people can not get medium/large/even nice small ones even after years of entering lottery. We need to change something that it does not happens.
