It pleases me to see the JP side of the scene is largely displeased with the Purify changes. I hope it's changed soon, either to be kinder to melee, or (IMO ideally) reverted completely.

lol I disagree. If our general ideas of what constitutes as Frontlines casuals align, between a PLD in closer proximity to them or something slightly further away like a WHM or BRD, 3 out of 4 times the casuals will hard-focus the PLD. Even after it's popped Hallowed Ground. Even if Guardian isn't a factor.
Purify might as well read: Lose 25% health, remove a debuff, gain cc immunity for 2 seconds.
As sure, its not causing you to lose 25% of current health, but your health reserves. As the MP bar has been treated as emergency health for when needed it in a pinch for pvp.
I’ve said multiple times that I’m not interested in debating why someone would spend 5,000 MP just for Raiju as that’s your personal playstyle.
From my perspective, I have experience both playing as and against Ninja, so I know its weaknesses.
I solo-kill frequently in new/old Secure and old Shattered under 5.1 PvP, and I wouldn’t trade Purify for Raiju.
Regarding CC, I’m not sure if Diamond counts as “high CC,” since I’ve only played three seasons and casual mode on Seize day.
Even so, I still wouldn’t make that trade.
My stance always focus on overall PvP, as I spend roughly 70% of my time in Frontline and 30% in CC.
Hopefully this clarifies my stance.
Diamond doesn't, but it can put you into high level CC with crystal, especially the now omega+ ratings that know how to sync burst well enough and insta delete someone. Purify may often not save you because the time for you to purify is the time for the damage to become lethal or drop you too low to recover from, but if it does, then you appreciate getting that additional second. But even in full Diamond you can get situations where the incoming damage is so high that you'd benefit from it too, imo.
