Read in any Sena thread you will find all of them I am not the kind of person who gathers screenshot on my phone / pc but I guess with the attitude of I will not do research we are done talking thanks for the conversation
I’d love to have so little problems in life that a trans VA playing a character in my precious second life sim is considered the ultimate betrayal
Is it really that hard to understand people just want to live and let live, if you don’t like the VA for her hostility fine, but slinging general transphobia and acting like trans experience is some sort of a betrayal is just a disgusting attitude
Ignore or dont. He or She. Woke Lamat is here to stay with us for 2 more years.
WE may praise raids and dungeons, Music or raids. But nothing can improve poor wrighting of this shitty character. And we are stuck with this. Last hope of Yoshida's *BURN IT!!!!!!!* insight, giving up to Soyni shenenigans jsut represents that it will not change
Oooh this is gonna be a hell of a thread to read. Lemme pull up a chair

And yes she was ratio'd into oblivion for this entitlement, but you just want to paint crap as slander and whatever other isms and ists because you're lazy and would rather a "PrOtEcTeD MiNoRiTy" get away with whatever they want.

I really hope SE takes the proper corrective action. Cant sit by any longer and let this matter go unchecked.
In a way, to put it bluntly: Yes. Calling a worker a "scab" is essentially a union worker shaming either another union worker or a non-union worker for working during said strike. In the union worker's case as well: their union might be able to fine them a decent amount for working at the place they're striking since they are bound by the union’s constitution and bylaws. Of course if their work/union contracts allow it, union workers CAN get another job during said strike, as long as it isn't in the same general "field" as what they are striking.
I won't pretend to know all the in and outs of unions and strikes and whatnot as there are a lot of "fine lines" and whatnot when it comes to it all. Ultimately if you are a non-union worker, you CAN work during a strike if you want to, but it's normally not recommended to "Cross the picket line" as is said and work during said strike if you can help it though. Depending on said job and the severity of the strike: working during said strike can be met with co-workers that are in the union that did strike harassing you and threatening you, and even escalating to destruction of your car/property and violence against you.
So it really does just come down to your own personal feelings/morals/overall living situation on whether or not to keep working/finding work in the same "field" as whatever a specific union is currently striking, which in this specific case is the SAG-AFTRA video game strike that is currently ongoing that Sena has said they are taking part in.
Yoshi-P: Please do not harass the VA and localization team.
How everyone should react: Yeah, sounds reasonable.
Some people in this thread: No. In fact we're gonna find any reason we can to justify harassing her even more!
Criticism is perfectly fine. Even memeing. Harassment is not. Be better than that.
There is a person unironically going around in this thread going
“That’s a man of course they were going to fail playing a woman” and
“Yoshi p sold out to the sick woke mob shoving these disgusting people down our throats”
That’s not “misconstrued critisim from the woke mob” as you people put it, that’s blatant transphobia and should be called out for how disgusting it is
The hate was there way before the article (the one that dropped shortly after DT release) outed them as trans and accused everyone of being transphobic. Prior to that article I hadnt seen any transphobic comments with plenty in that thread saying the same thing. Did that article pour petrol on the flames and pull out transphobic players? sure.
My personal opinion on the character after finishing DT is she was ok and seen the story basically as Rocky training Creed but without giving her any training. I think if they had carried the story over the patches and fleshed it out we wouldnt be having this conversation.
I think he means to say don't attack them because you don't like the character itself or the story of dawntrail itself
But complaints directed at Sena have basically never been about Wuk but more her performance.
If you are from the US you might not know that this term 'scab' is very old, very old, in countries with strong trade unions. I see it used so often looking in historical newspapers back to 1910 and earlier, like: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/a...earchTerm=scab
When the union goes on strike solidarity dictates that everyone is out in support of one another, and a picket line is usually set up so that allied unions also know not to enter the site. Strike breakers are called scabs. Scabs who cross strike picket lines can do so freely, but there are consequences as they find they are basically blacklisted from further employment.
Scabs need to be shamed. They are living off the benefits of what unions had to fight tooth and nail for and are selling it out for a quick buck. Unions are fighting for better conditions for everyone. Scabs take those benefits and then just for the sake of short term gains pick the side of the employer who wants to pay everyone less.
I...think, some of the "protected class" (eh, really? We divide humans in classes again? Yikes...) really enjoy their status to be fair. And even enjoy abusing it to be quite toxic themselves without having to face any consequences. Sena is one of those cases which is evident looking at her twitter posts and it sucks. Her calling the players who dislike SMILE racists is only the tip of the iceberg.
Also, people need to realize that you can criticize the writing of Wuk as a character and at the same time criticize Senas VA work as two separate things. Just the same as you can like one and dislike the other at the same time. It's possible. And criticizing both doesn't automatically mean you dislike one thing because of the other. For example, I loved Wuks german VA but couldn't stand her as a fictional character.
Harassment is never okay, that has been said again and again and I stand by it. But there is a red line that has been crossed by Sena and her posts on twitter, so I really get that many of the fandom don't like her right now. What goes around, comes around. Being "protected" doesn't entitle you to be an ahole to others. It doesn't give you a free pass to be misogynistic either. We as humans should be held to the same standards of behavior, because I don't think we should start thinking in "classes" again, where one class is allowed to do just about anything. History should have taught us this never ends good in the end.
I'm a simple person - I don't like transphobes, therefore I avoid them and try not to engage.
A better person than me, like a Wuk Lamat (who the VA occasionally pretends to be on twitter), might try to understand the transphobes, educate them and reach a common ground of understanding, peace and love.
This VA openly displays the slogan "Sacrifice transphobes to Satan", with an inverted cross for the T.
Please insert any other group of people in the above slogan and try to justify how this is an acceptable, normal behaviour.
In Europe, where I'm from, we do not have a death penalty, and certainly left-leaning politics, which advocate for LGBTQ rights, do not advocate for death penalties for people they simply disagree with. They don't advocate for the discrimination of women. They don't blanket label white people racist or attack their own communities.
Can we please stop pretending this VA, whatever her identity might be, is a shining beacon of goodness and normalcy, which is simply not the case?
"[...]“It is really not that they are trying to bring forward an argument about a certain movement or anything like that. It’s just that they are doing their best for the development of the game[...]”
So it's okay to act as unprofessional as possible, insulting your fanbase and other VAs in the name of "development"? Yoshi P is an enabler here. It's quite glaring when you're shifting the blame to the consumers. It would've been fine if Yoshi said "we're trying our best on working on the situation so everyone could come out of it satisfied". You don't need to cancel/fire anyone, it's just damage control. Now I won't deny that harassment didn't happen but their "professional" VA also harassed other people.
Her performance was bad. Plain and simple. It doesn't have anything to do with her ideology or complex.
What I found funny is that she's playing a peace-lover hippie-like character but she's NOTHING like Wuk.
nazis are idiots. but sacrifizing other people to satan? that seems like something an idiot would do.
I'm sorry, I worded my post incorrectly. Should have been:
"Please insert any other group of people (who have not killed dozens of millions of people and commited numerous other unspeakable crimes besides) in the above slogan and try to justify how this is an acceptable, normal behaviour."
(And as much as I dislike transphobes, that's like comparing an annoying mosquito to the Death Star, so kind of not on the same scale.)
Take it easy it's just a shirt.
Yes, it's just a silly inoffensive edgy shirt.
So just report it and move on.
At this point we've seen thousand of pages from multiple threads going back and forth with this. The more people try to "call out", the more arguing occurs. It gives the appearance of dismissing valid criticism and also invites actual transphobs to jump in. It's actually counter productive to your point of seeing less transphobia.
Even if mods don't interact with us much here, they still delete posts quite often. No need to go social justice warrior mode everytime you see a post you don't like. Specially when it's only one or two people in the thread.
I see, thank you for this.
I can get behind SAG-AFTRA since I personally believe artists should be protected from big corporations using AI to cannibalize their work. I understand the frustration and I feel like friction is inevitable in situations like that...
Seems fair...I guess. As long as they knew what they're getting into and are free to choose. Thank you so much for this.
I honestly thought it was in line with chud which is a word I never heard of until...very recently. It's so nice to be informed, especially by different people since it's interesting to see their input on the matter.
I can understand where you're coming from.
Counterpoint:
Graha's VA doesn't call for people who aren't part of a group to be deplatformed because they were chosen to voice act for a character who is part of a group.
As far as I know, Wuk Lamat isn't canonically trans so...
Also, Wuk Lamat's voice acting has been heavily messed with in post-production in an attempt to make her sound less masculine, hence why SPHEEEENE sounds so bad. Someone who knows a lot more about audio enhancement than me has gone into detail on this offsite.
People are so upset with Wuk Lamat's VA performance when they are only a symptom, not the cause. That character will be gone soon enough just like Lyse, but we will be stuck with the root of the problem after still - The VA studio and SE.
Baldur's Gate 3's VAs spoke on how the VA industry will often give you a script with no context and ask you to do the voice lines for it. So the VA won't know how much emotion or what emotion should be portrayed in that moment. It is the VA studio's job with their director to either provide context or direct them to the appropriate emotion for the scene in question. The BG3 VAs said their studio was fantastic at providing context then following up with guidance.
So why does this matter? The VAs in Dawntrail all had moments with flat lines. It is just more noticeable with Wuk Lamat as that character is 75% of the script. These issues of the VA quality declining were beginning to pop up in Endwalker too, starting with the kid who ran up the Vrtra and sounded like a granny who had smoked too much all their life.
SE needs to put pressure on the English VA studio to give the VAs more support be it through context or if they can't give that to the VAs then direction from someone who can have that context and has experience bringing out the best in VAs.
If you're interested in the Q&A for the Baldur's Gate 3 VAs you can find it linked below, it gives a lot of insight to how a good VA studio will work with their actors vs the industry average which isn't great: https://youtu.be/DOKUm5XkC54?si=V6OGcu1SRu8KK8JE
She's currently playing the game for once. Her character is Here, if you're curious. She hasn't cleared a single high-end fight when it was current in her 10 years of playing the game.
Literally who cares about this when they screwed up Savage balancing beyond recognition, released a dogwater MSQ, and jobs are even more braindead than ever, so braindead they needed to nerf them 3 days into xpac launch
I'm actually interested as to why this was said in an article not everyone is going to read. Not everyone is terminally online like some of us are, and tbh I wouldn't have even known this article existed if not for the fact my phone's browser pushed the article up for me.
I am on the side of "don't harass her" (though I don't condone some of her tweets, particularly the Smile one), however if he really wants people to stop he needs to post a Lodestone article about it or say something at the next Live Letter (though it being in front of Japanese people at Tokyo Game Show, I doubt that option, unless something else happens between now and then.)
