Give DJ/ Roleplay events their own tab

Actual Roleplay venues. Where the idea behind the whole event is less 'we all to introverted to leave the house. So virtual club with twitch dj' and more 'limsa pub with Maelstrom personel, merchants, privateers and adventurers telling tall tales to each other over drinks'.

Not sure if giving a new tab in pf for Roleplay would help in anyway with that, but if they added Something like it it would at least help everyone else that's currently supposed to use the Catch all other Tab.

While Im sure we can agree that venue RP is definitely the most popular right now, I see all sorts of other types in PF every day. Cafes, sports bars, casinos, resturaunt RP, art shows, etc. IDK what the problem is...

The main reason I'm against is that it could escalate so far if they do this.
As mentioned before, others tab is used for all player driven content. If they add a tab for venues, next we'll have sellers asking for their own tab, next it will be venues who want one that's seperate from 18+ ones, then it's someone else who wants their own.

I'm ok with asking for tabs for content that square actually is providing us. All other content should be exactly that, in other. Otherwise every group will want their own spot.

I feel like that is comparing a black and white issue to a grey issue. Currently, unless DJ venues escalate ( which might be likely due to a previous person's comment about them shadowing a venue leader) they fall into the grey. SE won't act on it unless they slip up and really make a fool of themselves.
RMT on the other hand, while poorly enforced (just check the MB at the lvl armors to see 100+ mil gil transactions or lvl 90's having a long stare down with lalafell players with odd names in the uldah aetheryte) is strictly against the ToS.
Besides, while not the best example, on the Lodestone they have a section for community events, bringing that to the game itself might be good ya know? The Community Finder as well since I feel a good majority of players don't even engage with the lodestone website outside of patch notes.

Spamming advertisements in chat isn't being social, it's being annoying.

I just want them to stop spamming in /shout. I swear, you know when you bump into a car in Left 4 Dead and it's like "You've alerted the horde"? It's like that for /shout, as soon as one of them advertises their RP venue a tsunami of RP venue spam is imminent.

This was posted to the PF for Aether DC. They or at least some are doing in categories not meant for it.

As someone who isn't really seeing those, how many of those are actually set up to be Locations in Eorzea and not just using FFXIV as a convenient chat+ avatar application?

Bc the last time I can recall seeing Something like the former was early shb. Everything I seen recently basicly had you leave eorzea at the door.

Pretty much. If it can't be overly monetized and/or involve "dancers" then it's not worth having as a form of RP these days. Maybe it's different on other DCs but that's just the reality of NA. It's very rare to find something that doesn't open at 9PM+ lol.

As an RP enjoyer, agreed. /shouts for venues in Limsa and the like are pretty much always a nuisance, and I'd like to see a separate space for them to advertise freely.

Depends on the server, I'll see it on Balmung and Mateus in Ul'Dah

It's funny but I have a topic up where I suggested a system built into pf to actually lessen the spam that can happen. Even suggested a venues tab so it's totally separate but it's buried lol

Setting up a separate subcategory in PF is a reasonable request. That way the venues get separated out from FC recruitment (why is there no dedicated in-game recruitment tool??), crafting commissions and other activities that are also placed under Other.

If you think that the core activity of the game is venues because that's all you see in shout, try playing the game instead of spending all your time sitting around in Limsa, Ul'dah or Gridania. The reason why those cities end up with most of the venue spam is because that's where the players not doing anything hang out - prime audience for venues. I go in and out of those cities frequently while I'm playing but the venue spam doesn't add up enough to be annoying in the 2-3 minutes I'm there. I stay focused on the reason that took me into the city.

TL:DR The venues bother you because you let them bother you. Stop letting them bother you by actively using your time for something more than reading shout spam.

But that's not what RP is.

Again, people are conflating virtual venues and RP when they are very different things.

Someone mentioned a sports bar as "RP" earlier. Well unless all they're discussing at that sports bar is chocobo racing and Franz the Fair's last battle at the Coliseum, chances are it's not a RP spot at all. It's a just a place where players get together to talk about real life sporting events.

I'm aware what the traditional definition of RP is, I've been apart of several different communities for it across the last 10+ years.

I'm saying when RP is brought up in 14, it's either people pointing to venues as "RP" or asking if ERP is involved. I've heard on more than one occasion, especially recently, that if you don't have Mare and have no interest in ERP then you're passed over as a partner the majority of the time. This is just how it is now lol. It's sad but yeah...big reason why I distanced myself from it over the last year or so. Just still get told things from friends and in public spaces.

We have Femboy Hooters, and I believe my own DC was hosting a "Playboy Mansion" the other night so my guess is: not many, lol.

I come here to say that spamming in shout is against TOS because it's spamming. If you jump from main city to main city and put your Club AD you can be reported. And GM will take action. How do I know this? I got angry msg on discord from someone I reported for spam. You know it works when they stalk you out to insult you, that you dared to report them. So report them, and they will get scolding by GM, if they don't behave they will get Tag on their account.

If you go from one world to another world and shout once, it's literally not spamming, because its an entirely different world.

Because I told them I will report them. Set Busy status and went to do my stuff in 14. Few hours later I got Friend inv from that person, he managed to find me on Reddit discord, not hard because my name in game, is same as on Discord.

Doesnt change anything friendo, and even if on the same world, you go on Limsa, then new Gridania, then Uldah, and use your shout once, it's still not spamming.

As much as the report thing sounds fair enough if you feel like someone is spamming, the game makes it a pain to even report. At this point I've stopped even reporting the people openly rmting in uldah aetheryte since I know the gm's won't do anything at least to the buyer. If it was a little slide down option to report the shout I would feel a lot more inclined to let them gm's know but as of this moment it's not worth wasting 5-10 minutes typing a report on console just for them to not get any form of punishment.

Many do spam though, shouting the same 3 paragraph long message that more than fills your entire chat window every few minutes. I’ve also had a look at that tab of PF last night and 3 venues were advertised several times each and formed the majority of the posts.

1. Wasn't me, as I said these are things I'm told.
2. Not to fluff my own ego but I don't know how it feels to be passed over in this game as I am a Miqo and a pretty decent writer at that.

I think the venue ad stuff in the cities could be refined alot. I know they trying to draw ppl in but the length of their ads is what bothers people the most not so much the frequency of them being posted.

This was a case with fc ads and you generally seen little short 1 line ones praised.

This might fix the issue somewhat. Ads will still be there but no wall of text to breakup whatever convo is going on.

The only thing you have to do is remove shouts if they annoy you, there is nothing else, the other tab is.. well.. for other things, which venues fit in perfectly.

If you remove the people going to venues, djs etc, these people will just quit, it's that simple, "banning" venues wont magically put people into savage or make them interested in it.

A "special" tab just for venues could be nice, but it also fits in "other" as it is.

As I assume most people complaining about this would agree, I do not care at all what people do in private. I think the make believe clubs are cringeworthy and ERP is pathetic, but I can just choose not to visit those places. Normally that would be that, to each their own. The problem is that the people running those venues shove it in everyone else's face as hard as they possibly can. The main two things pissing everyone else off are:

You can't just blacklist them because they're all hired help that get rotated out constantly. It doesn't just happen in cities either, I've seen these ads pop up out in the middle of nowhere. "Just turn off shout chat" is a ridiculous solution. Why should I have to restrict myself from a useful game feature because other people are abusing it?

2. The "Other" tab is nigh unusable for anything that isn't a club because every venue insists on posting 5+ ads. I once saw TEN ADS for the same venue. It completely drowns out everything else which is why the formerly numerous fun and original actual roleplaying venues have almost all died out or moved to discords.

Both of these issues could be solved easily. Limit your shout ads to one short and sweet message sent once every hour or two and limit the PF ads to one listing per club. Do that and nobody would have a problem.

Again if someone wants to spend their evenings beating off to catgirls, more power to you, I do not care. Just stop making it everyone else's problem.

I talked to a GM about one of the shouters and the gm literally said they can't do anything...
