They're seventeen, as of Encyclopedia Eorzea Volume 3. That's well beyond holding hands as a show of friendship age. The 5.4 Key artwork also has them interlocking their fingers. That is quite literally the romantic way to hold hands.

Their age doesn't matter. They are not at the same age from a social aspect. In terms of friendships, they are toddlers.

Ryne also said in a cutscene in game Gaia is the first friend she had that was near her age. We don't know the actual age of the twins at that point but Rynes line implies she's younger.

And the fact it's a copy of another scene doesn't confirm anything. They can take aspects of another game but changes things if they want.

Again, Final Fantasy 8 is a love story. This cutscene, in the original has a romantic overtone. They chose to recreate this in extreme detail. That is not an accident. And to pretend that this also doesn't make the FFXIV version have a romantic overtone is to spit in the face of not only Final Fantasy as a series, but all story writers and artists in general.

Canadian schools aren't usually referred to as American. They are referred to as Canadian Schools. The Canadian Education system. American schools/American education system refers to the United States. Grouping both as "American" is incorrect because they have vastly different education systems.

Additionally due to the confusion of the America(s), it would be more accurate to say "North American Education System" if you are trying to imply the whole continent.

See, that's a great explanation that unfortunately does fall flat when you think about it.

Earth, Fire, Wind/Air, Water, Thunder and Ice is literally every single element, plus Shiva also being Light, and The Cloud of Darkness being Dark.

So that's the entirety of the elemental wheel, in which case, it should be Neutral (or a little skewed towards Light, given that we're on the First), and should be blue like every other Aetheryte in the game at that point.

Fair enough. I grouped them together a bit hastily, I suppose, and it was mainly aimed at the United States' education system, and not the Canadian one. I fell into the trope of assuming everyone on the internet is American, which the internet sure does love acting like at times. Apologies there.

Except the game depicts Ryne as, mentally speaking, essentially an adult? She quite literally acts like the twins, who didn't have to deal with the isolation. I really do not buy the "In terms of friendships, they are toddlers" explanation. Nor would that be a realistic depiction of someone who's had little to no friends growing up anyhow.

No. But we can assume they're at least 17 in terms of maturity. 16 being sourced from Tales from the Calamity, and 1 year added on top of that, spent in the First. That's all we can safely do with the FFXIV story time bubble

In any case, Ryne is confirmed to be 17.
