Well, regardless of what we think, most of it shows "sold out", in the UK at least - so.... guess they must be doing something right!

Not surprised, but it really is a good chance to give a handful of tokens that can be exchanged for old event items. Guildwars does something similar that lets you pick from a selection of skins/trinkets/etc (including the real money ones).
It's been 10 years. I mean, yeah I'm happy I have my whatever, but there's really no reason to not give some away at this point. I don't think anyone would be upset if they said "here, we're gonna give you ~$25 in crysta to use in the MogStation!"
They have been to every Pax Aus held with a huge display and exhibits. Oh and btw? japan is easier to get to, takes less flight time, and is less expensive than the US.Quote:
Nor S-E did host any fanfest at south hemisphere. Just USA/Canada, Europe and some asian countries.

Sega, Square Enix and more confirmed for PAX Aus 2022
What did Blizzard host? A cardboard cutout and no staff.Quote:
First chance to a battle challenge coming up at PAX Aus, I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the set-up you can normally expect is?
Would there be MMO mice or just normal ones? Controllers?
My muscle memory is all MMO mouse so just wondering if I should spend some time on a controller
Is SquareEnix coming to Pax Aus 2023? Yes.
Is Blizzard coming to Pax Aus? No. It isnt American so they dont CARE.
One of these two companies cares about its overseas customers..and it aint Blizzard.
In addition to having the stall at PAX itself, they also run a fan event on a night during the convention. I haven't gone so I'm not sure what it entails exactly, but I've seen promotions for it at least two years running now.
After all these years, I wish we had stubble beards for all race and face types, so I can at least feel better about rocking the new feminine hair style that’s fixing to win the contest. Sad…

I wish they'd do that too.
Whilst I've read both positive and negative stories about 1.0, it has to be said that it has gone down in legend somewhat - though that seems to be mostly due to how it was brought to a close. The Youtube videos of 1.0's final moments are really something to behold.
Still, I'm another who'd love to experience it for myself.
Yup.
It's the weirdest thing to me for people to keep engaging with something they seem to absolutely HATE SO MUCH. And for all those insisting they love it and want it to be better, no, snide comments like "propaganda" (really??) and the incessant downering is NOT what someone who loves something does.
I'm curious to see what else develops and I think the Rising this year should be lovely, etc. And as you say, the fanfests are sold out solid. Apparently PLENTY of people disagree with the naysayers. And I'm not even one of those since I don't like going to big events and figure the tickets are better left to those who do. :)
Not sure what their plan is, but one thing I'd love is some kind of FATE/instance thing like the 5.3 one. The one in Amaurot where Fauxbert/Elidibus basically walks you through the story thus far as you go through some of the major events. I SPECIFICALLY remember the Estinihogg fight because the Heavensward music ending with the climax as he jumps away and then total silence before you move on to the next scene.
That whole sequence was so well done to me as a recap of the story thus far, to the point the slow Endwalk sequence with the quotes of people we've met along the way seemed a pale imitation of that 5.3 sequence. And I don't mean that as a knock on the Endwalk so much as 5.3's was just SO good.
I kinda wonder if they're going to go with that sort of a thing for the Rising orr go with something different. One of the Risings had a FATE that was reenacting the 1.X invasion of Ul'Dah. So you never know. I always like the Rising (partly because I love Answers - Reprise and MISSED the one where they gave out that orchestration; but whenever that song plays, at any point in the game, I get chills and love it), though some have been more involved than others. Though I always like the talk with Yoshi P.
EDIT:
If you've never done it, there's a YouTube channel that has a few playlists that are pretty good and kind of go into it. "The Rise and Fall" and "Remnants of a Realm" are both really good, though I don't know that they'll ever continue either (they found out like everyone that making podcasts is cheap and gets you views with a lot less effort), but the first documents/retells FFXIV 1.X's origin and failure, as well as what they did as they tried to salvage the project and then the relaunch and aftermath, and Remnants of a Realm goes through various maps and areas in ARR and compares them to 1.X as well as various features and things in 1.X that made it into 2.0+ (and which were removed), as well as areas (like the old ice PvP map having the remains of one of the towns from 1.X Coerthas, Riversmeet and how in 3.0 it was readded complete with a 1.X Aetherite frozen mid-destruction, or the airship dock in South Shroud, etc). They also did one going through the various 1.X dungeons that were in the game code but never fully added/implemented, which is also interesting itself but a bit less so to me than either of the above (and I don't remember the name of that playlist)
But if you've never watched those, they might be interesting to you.
