So.... SE has been struggling for years with housing but they can give everyone an island...? OK...
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Only SE knows, why they didn't implement instanced private housing for all, in order to solve the housing problem
But yes, if an instanced big Island for everyone is possible, a house with garden should be possible too ;)
Noob! They announced timers! I've done my island to timers then done the others!
I kinda neutral in this. It’s a very good way to kill time and relax from combats.
But I also understand why some people don’t like this kind of stuffs and still need to do this content if they need glams, mounts and hairstyles.
The content has so much potentials, that’s for sure.
Not sure if I missed someone replying to this - but this caught me out too.
You don't click on the seeds themselves, you click on the empty box where the seeds need to be moved to. This will then give you a little pop up panel with items you can place in the box under your mouse (bit like when you have to turn in a quest item).
Anybody else thinks the progression is kind of fast for this kind of content? It hasn't been even 24h and already so many buildings and upgrades. At this rate there will be nothing to develop in a week or so.
It kills me how people are wanting everything Island Sanctuary has to offer on Day 1 of patch day. Then your right back in the forums complaining there is no content. Just doesn't make sense.
I don't think Square meant for it to be a grind, why they used the word "relaxing' when describing it. Construction takes time, the more complex the more time it will take to build and that means too, you have to wait on currency in higher amounts to drop from your progression on the island and from your visions. It's not going to be very profitable just gathering yourself what little nodes are out there now, with only 10 exp points each node. Now if we can eventually send the mammets out to gather, that will be great. So have some patience, those things will come in due course. I can't wait to see my friends island.
Oh..and I do wish when playing the orchestrion player that if you leave your island the music doesn't reset to the default once you come back.
Enjoyable so far. Still think it'd be nice if you could turn one of the building plots into a normal cottage though.
It's not really too fast, you can progress through the island pretty quickly in terms of rank, but having everything unlocked and fully upgraded is still quite an endeavour in itself, and then on top of that you have the rewards, and given they intend to expand on it in future... In all likelihood, it is something you and many players will be doing weeks, and weeks after fully upgrading.
I’m really enjoying it. I stayed up way too late last night just gathering stuff and pushing towards Rank 5. I can’t wait until I get off work and can do more on it. Gonna work towards Rank 6 today.
Also can’t wait to mess around on my alts and their islands.
Already at rank 6 and I see a problem. Mammets ventures cost seafare tokens. Seafare tokens are slowly gained by set timers. Island tokens are next to useless, make the grainery take island tokens instead of seafare tokens.
Im still on rank 4 but i never spent so much of my time on my island xD exploring and going weeeee all the time lmao so yes, thank you Yoshi and the dev team for this! :)
Well the thing is one giant time gate so it would be pretty bad if this game only had IS going for it. The way I see it, the carnival just opened up the island wing for the ones who paid for the ticket to enter. It is pretty cozy but if all you are banking on is spending hours on the island exclusively for 6.2 onwards then of course you will run out of things to do. That's the MO for facebook games. Personally, i'm holding my breath to see if SE can keep it in their pants and keep the inventible "skip the timer" consumable for the island OFF of the mogshop. I would be okay if it was some super crazy rare item (I loved the Rose of Renewal system in everquest!) but if they will introduce it then the realistic side of my mind just keeps repeating "it's going to be 5-10 freedom bux, it's it? :^)". lol
I also dont understand why we have to upgrade via seafarer tokens. So far, it's not very common to gain them? and all good rewards are tied to them.
Meanwhile Islander rewards seem kinda lackluster? Would of been a better reason to gather materials > sell them for Islander Cowrie > build/upgrade facilities + use them for ventures.
The problem is you went too fast. The tagline on this is "living the slow life" and you couldn't help but grind it out. It was designed like those other idle mobile games that have timed tasks going for hours and days at a time. Going too fast is going to leave you short on currency and materials.
So I got to level 5, upgraded the main building, 2 workshops and 2 granaries, 1 landmark complete and another nearly complete.
At that point I'm at around 5000 exp from the next level and can see two options:
1: Grind it out, meaning I click around 500 times on material collection.
2: Afk and just collect exp from workshop items, animals and perhaps the fields(no idea how long they take).
So my options are basicly hardcore grind or do nothing/afk.
Does not feel like a good design imo and can only wonder what it will be like on higher levels when I can't get much exp boost from making new buildings.
Satisfaction with content is subjective. The people "overpraising" IS clearly love it and appreciate it for what it is. Some people like raiding and really praise the New Hotness when it comes out. I hate raiding, should I call their expressed opinions Overpraising because I don't like raiding?
No. That would be stupid and demeaning to their opinion.
We get to pet the sheeps! We get to have our own [REDACTED!]
Now, how the heck do you get up the ladders to see out of the top of the windmills?
I browsed the achievements for it, and it's appears level 10 is the highest. I can understand it's content for the long run, but the way tokens are, once you max out there is basically no reason to do any gathering yourself. The island tokens are super under valued compared to other content and in island sanctuary, nothing uses it. Just log in, water plants and feed pets/collect daily and weekly send mammets out and set workshop build orders.
Spent a couple hours trying out the new plantation owner gamemode. Built the workshop.
The gameplay is a clicker. 90% of the gameplay is running around clicking anything that glows. The other 10% is navigating menus to order your robot slaves to build stuff.
I can't help but compare the Island Sanctuary to the Sunsong Ranch from WoW, which had much more engaging gameplay. You didn't plant seeds by navigating a menu or just clicking. You grabbed a shovel and tilled the dirt. Then you planted the seeds. Then you grabbed the watering can and watered the soil. Then as your crops grew, you had to do various things to maintain them, such as grabbing a tool to spray the bugs, or grabbing weeds and slowly walking away from the dirt patch to yank the weeds out of the ground. Or a bullriding minigame where you ride a living vine that is strangling your crops and beating the crap out of it. etc. You also expanded the farm through a lot of interesting quests with the NPC neighbors you cared about, rather than just clicking and navigating a menu.
I am enjoying it though I also dont understand why one currency is bascially needed for everything but hard to get and the other is bascially useless if you dont want materia. For something that is meant to be relaxing its surely focusing a lot on the grind. But I guess I will slowly work towards the things that I want.
After all I do need to build and sell items which means that I need to gather the materials. That alone will keep me busy with it and is a nice change between other content.
was having fun at the start, but then I build the workshop and got hit with a market graph and the expectation to run a sweatshop as the main drive of farming tokens, and my enjoyment dropped to rock bottom.
I dunno about you Yoshida, but I don't consider "managing project workflow with EXCEL spreadsheets" as something relaxing
