I honestly wouldn't care what they would add at or after 2.0. Just the fact that Beastmen won is what is getting their panties in a knot.

I'd be happy if they added Viera, and I'd be almost just as happy if they added something completely different.

Wrong. Mammalian demi-beastmen for the win, this in no way promises Viera. It would be highly unlikely for them to implement another race from a completely separate universe into the pre existing cannon. They are more likely to create a new unique race based on the results of the players poll. If 27.3% of players had read the option carefully they would know this in no way promises Viera, but rather a "Mammalian demi-beastmen-hybrid race, similar to Miqote and Viera".

Yep because Miqo'te have nothing in common with Mithra, Hyur are in no way similar to Humes from both FFXI and FFXII, Lalafell have absolutly nothing to do with Tarutaru and Elzen are in no way alike to Elvaan they would never dare use something from a previous FF game how dare they.

It would reference Viera undoubtedly but it will more than likely not have the name and a different appearance just like the races we have now. Yoshi should have given other examples but now its wait and see time yay

I for one dont hate viera either but /eyeroll at another t and a race. The cats are bad enough. Sex and cuteness I can do without in a game. But if you listened to some of the live streams after garuda was released there are alot of ppl who need to find sex somewhere. Ivalice Alliance cannon is completely separate and unique from Eorzea/Van'dill. Your example is totally different and you know it. You can't even begin to relate the two. It just doesn't fit, it would be slop to just copy and paste this over to that, and I can't see them doing that. Argue about the similarities between XIV and XI all you want, I think you are missing the point.

Lets not forget the Hyur race was origanally in FFXI, then they put it into FFXII, a completly seperate universe that offers no similarities, SE does this all the time, how do you think we get all the staples of the series?

I honestly don't think people are against implementing the race so much as the race already has a home/lore in a different world and people want something different. However people are mistaking a poll posting an example for people to compare to, and taking it for actual fact which really isn't the case here. It's like saying something taste like chicken, when usually it doesn't. When may get a mammal like race and they used vierra as an example, but likely it will be something different.

A mammalia race can very well be some random creature SE conjures up that has fur, personally I'd like to see something bring a more technical look to the world. Nothing cute or mysterious...

That's just my taste, and judging by the poll results, not many share it, and there's nothing wrong with that. :rolleyes:

I like the diversity in taste on here, and I wouldn't mind one bit having another mammalian-based race as playable, whether it's Viera or something brand new to the FF universe. Any new additions is welcoming and a breath of fresh air.

But again, I would totally bust out with a massive erection for anything like the Argonians from The Elder Scrolls or a playable Amalj'aa/Ixal like race. Hell, I would even love to play as a moogle online and in parties.

But thats just my 2 cents, heh. :p

If you read all the agains viera posts its all "I don't want another furry" and "a lonely man's fantasy" I have not seen anything to say they already have lore in another game, so I don't think we should have them.

While they may not add Viera I don't think that was in there by mistake, I think they could have been looking into it, or they would have used Miqo'te as an example of a mammalian demi-beastman, because they are, looking into it more it seems to have been to see what people would think of Viera overall, and if the reception was bad, use another idea.

Well, here's to hoping we get something like bangaa or burmecians. Why would you want another all female race (even if Miqote got both in the future) of overly sexualized animal-people?

Though to be fair, that was only done in 12, where as the tactics-advance ones were a little tamer.

I really wouldn't read too much into it. Look at the fiasco with hamlet. Vierra was an example yoshi used so players would have something to compare too.

Also what makes people so sure that everyone who voted for a mammal like race saw "Vierra omg do want!"? I could vote for the mammal race and imagine a bat like stealthy race known for being shifty and menacing, or a walrus race with tusk. There are more instances of mammals on this earth then bunny's...

Those that would support a Viera~esqe race are largely against overly-sexualized designs as well. (Don't forget, that there will be both male and female versions of whatever race they create)

If Viera end up anything like the OP's posted slutty Fan-Art, I would be opposed to them as well.

One thing I am saying is in the live letter they showed a drake, ahriman and goobbue they were looking at for possible mounts, these were examples and looking at if mobs would be possible as mounts, then they give us the goobbue mount, this looks like the Viera that was "slipped" in there.

I think it made sense for Yoshi to use that as an example. I mean, Akihiko Yoshida did most of the artwork for this race, already, and it's one of the more notable final fantasy races to be 'demi-human', I suppose.

If they decided to add another race, it would probably be something 'cute', and not overtly...well, like op's pic. That's really not helping the case of 'oh my god lonely mans fantasy'.

If I was Yoshi-P I would use Miqo'te as an example of a mamalian demi-beastman because they are just that and it would invoke less bias because it is already in game it must be something they have been looking at internally and because of this "I dropped the name “Viera.” For some reason," this type of wording (perhaps someone could get another translation from the japanese of this line see if Yoshi-P said it or the translators put it in) is normally used when there is a little more to it.

I dont mind the idea of new races being added but I really wish they would of expanded on what we have now. The Dunesfolk Clan make villages on the back on enormous beasts wandering through a desert. If you played Panzer Dragoon Orta then this would amaze you like the village that lives on the giant flying monster. Another example that I have brought up before in a previous thread is Duskwight live in caves and there is a deep hatred between Duskwight and Wildwood Elezen but this is no where to be found in game and when I read about the Hellsguard Clan I pictured possibly adventuring to the pits of hell maybe even fighting Hades. But the lore we have now was Tanaka's and Yoshi might not agree with this lore in his plans so I really wouldnt be surprised if its gone come 2.0 but if it stays I hope they flesh it out more instead of it just being referenced like the far east for ninja and samurai in ffxi.

We're asking for subscribers and sex sells.

Will I play one? Likely not. Will I mind if they exist in the game? No, so long as they're rendered in their FFXII version.

The American aversion to sexuality is one I find the most perplexing even as US citizen myself. The fact that it's considered so forbidden to talk about, discuss, handle, etc. Is part of the reasons why the subject is treated with such immaturity.

The character Fran was a very interesting one, regardless of her outfit. And we should note, even if they do release Viera, there's no reason why they have to be as scantily clad as they were in FFXII. People need to tone down their knee-jerk intensity some. Think of ways of it being done right, instead of all the ways it would be done wrong - pointing out your desires for variables within possibilities is always better feedback then trying to snuff possibilities out completely.

SO tell me (no one has managed yet) why didn't Yoshi choose Miqo'te as an example of mammalian demi-beastmen? if there was nothing more in it. Because overall that is what they are, and it would show that they mean humanoids with mammalian features.

They didn't need to choose Viera they arent the only mammalian demi-beastmen in FF to use as an example.
