disappointing
My excitement level dropped when Black Mage/Paladin wasn't everything I was waiting a year for.
Excuse me if my hopes for 2.0 aren't too optimal.
Crappy drop rates with crappy rewards anyway. Not only is crappy rewards, but the materia systems makes it even worse. If materia system wasn't out I'd actually go for a Garuda staff, but because you can meld Intelligence into a thaumaturge weapon, why bother fighting Garuda when it's easier to meld?(I don't understand how no one is bothered by that)
Limited to 15 moves.
The storyline they are giving us is so god damn random I have no idea what's going on. I got the faded paper and I have no idea what to do with it. Might even be too late to pass it in. It's not even interesting unless Darnus is in the cutscene. I am not getting a impending doom feeling from the story at all... more like hurry up and get to the damn point, it's turning out to be CoP all over again with it's stupid Lord of the Rings sam and frodo scenes. Prishe is the Apocalypse Bringer bleh bleh bleh run to sandy, then run to here, then here, fight this, run back to sandy, find out again Prishe is the apocalypse bringer.
Classes Armor/Weapons... why would you use class gear when you could have double melded gear for both class and job. Why would you have two sets from one class and one job if you have all jobs?
Adding PVP restriction when PVP isn't even out!? (Movement cancel...)
You are both right and wrong. You are right in the fact that they will not be doing anything with Ver 2.0 at E3. You are wrong in assuming that we were promised anything more then a trailer at E3. If a trailer was the only thing scheduled for E3 then I can wait a little longer for more detailed info.
Please understand that the New promotional campaign would begin in Aug <as per the new roadmap>. That does not mean that we have to wait that long for more info concerning Ver 2.0.I suspect that we will start seeing more details sooner then that
Also noticed that a patch 1,22c is planned. First I heard of that. Did I miss something there?
Probably, thing is you kind of expect certain things from E3, and when the producer says he will be at E3 and that they have a planned in game trailer you expectations are further increased.
I fully understand that we have to wait until August now, (I'm not stupid :P) but that still doesn't make sense from a PR point of view, it's almost as if they are trying to cover something up by postponing this trailer and most of the 2.0 information.
It's hard to say if E3 will bring any kind of 2.0 news and information at this point as the letter can be interpreted either way, people with hope are seeing the best of this and those who are disappointed are seeing the worse.
Sadly this game has disappointed me too many times at this stage and I refuse to see the silver lining, especially when I was looking forward to E3.
FFXIV 2.0 trailers not being shown at e3 is one of the biggest marketing flops I've ever seen. I thought after all these years Square Enix would finally learn.....e3 is the best way to capture the attention of a western audience , period. Showing it at TSG, GC....doesn't matter....there are hundreds and thousands more that watch the e3 coverage live. If the trailer is finished...why not show it? do they have something to hide...possibly not enough substance to show the viewers...
Studying advertising.. this almost makes no sense in terms of a marketing perspective. The press conferences are the only thing the majority of players care about, FFXIV should have been there.
Sigh
Yet another Letter that they completely disregard the glaring bug of invisible tails. SE never fails to disappoint.
Both the German and French translations say: "We are planning on revealing new information about Version 2.0."
Maybe we'll get something interesting after all !
One more week for my viera result? /hides ''>_<'' Any how, looking forward for next week, as long they do open the new website soon after E3. Merge those 2 team fast so we can get stuff out quickly.
So word on the rumor mill(ie this thread) is that they're moving up the trailer(which could be nothing huge anyway) is being moved to August? That's a bloody brilliant(if not expected) move, and it shows that marketing knows what they're doing(and that they're smarter than most of you). For one thing, this move(and this letter) show that while this community might "help" with feedback in certain fine-tuning, it still isn't anywhere near big enough to have a large impact, and that's exactly what SE is going for.
A quick Google search will show you how many people have been in attendance to e3 over the past few years, and while it did increase over last year, it's pretty much flat lining around 45k attendance given the nature of the attendees, which is a relatively static number of industry professionals, analysts, investors, etc. SE probably isn't worried about all these suits because fuck it, they're SE and they've already mentioned previously that they ain't worried about that sort of thing.
Meanwhile over in Europa, Gamescom is only in it's FOURTH year(2009 -2012), and it has already seen a whopping 275 THOUSAND attendance. The audience also has a key element that e3 has dismissed: the gamers and fans. You aren't going to see non-professionals at e3, and that means that at Gamesom, there are actual THRONGS of people and fans(your target audience) PLAYING YOUR GAME.
There's still a large portion of gamers that don't get their information online or through the lodestone. I have people in my Linkshell that don't even know what the Lodestone even is. Hell, we see repeat threads on topics all the time here, so some people clearly aren't reading. Going to a gaming con and hearing a lot of buzz about certain things on the show floor can attract a much larger following. Besides, most major NA gaming outlets are sending people to Köln for Gamescom anyway. Give the site and online info for the people who know how to find it, and make it really visible at Gamescom like they did originally in 2009.
That ends speculation corner!
On to the actual poll results. Well I can say that I'm pretty cool with 'em, given that most of the responses with the biggest numbers were the ones that I selected in my version, so hooray to that. Given the scramble that the devs are going through what with gaming con season coming up, I think I can easily forgive them one more week for the other results.
I also think it's important to remember a little factoid(that admittedly most people here already knew) about how they've essentially split the dev team for the current patches we've been getting(which have been pretty sizeable) AND working on 2.0(which is even bigger somehow...). This right here is pretty damn impressive for any company at all, and I can't wait to see what we'll get once these two forces combine post 1.23 completion and 2.0 release.
Well at least we can look forward to Wii-U at E3, Nintendo won't let us down like this XD
LOL @ Malakhim, E3 is a media event designed to show the upcoming games to the world through media outlets like websites and magazines.
Companies don't care about showing their games to the average joe, its designed to hype it to the world not only those who can attend the event.
If nothing regarding FFXIV 2.0 is going to be @ E3, then what does this mean:
"Well, the public release of version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles."
And why is he even going?
Ok listen for a little bit, they do not need a trailer for the press conferance, they will probably talk about the changes they have made, show some ingame footage (not a trailer) from 2.0 to completly wow the audiance and viewers, then in Aug release the trailer, possibly at gamescom, (15th-19th Aug) then at TGS show some more gameplay this will bring new players in and make them want to play (assuming it is all good)
The gameplay is what matters, so they want to show that to the masses, the trailer can be shown at gamescom, which has less viewers than E3, and more info at TGS, this will attract everyone, and show what 2.0 will do. Alot of people don't care about none gameplay trailers, they care about gameplay.
Is there going to be a dev response or is the letter meant to be confusing?
I've never seen so many people who lack basic reading skills.
Going to E3Quote:
For myself, I’m shifting into super producer mode for the release of version 2.0.
I’m in Japan right now, but will soon be winging my way to LA for E3.
Showing content at E3Quote:
Well, the public release of version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. We also plan to unveil a brand new promotion site for version 2.0 soon after E3 ends.
Releasing website after new content is shown at E3
Not showing a trailer at E3Quote:
We had planned to release a new trailer for version 2.0 at E3 this year, but instead we’ve decided to keep it under wraps for now.
Trailer = trickle. Instead they are taking a different approach to E3.Quote:
We came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle.
Now according to the road map they have "2.0 Marketing Campaign (Including Trailer Release)" listed in August.
It is heavily suggested there will be content at E3 followed by the website with information and then the trailer will be shown later in august along with more information coming out regularly and consistently.
Thats because they dont let just anybody into E3. It is intended for members of the industry. It is an event that gets a tremendous amount of media coverage though and not showing a trailer there is a mistake. The point of trailers is to be teasers, not to be informative. It would have gotten the game a lot more attention than some interviews that will mostly be read by readers of this forum.
This statement is so unbelivably stupid I can't even begin to respond.
E3 is broadcast on television and online to MILLIONS every year. It's an industry only event but it's second to NO event as far as announcements, reveals and releases are concerned.
Gamescom is a PUBLIC show and is meant mostly as a showcase of demos and products previously announced (usually at e3). Obviously a PUBLIC show will have a lot more attendees than a PRIVATE show. But attendance accounts for absolutely nothing because the actual announcements happen at E3 every year and are broadcast/published/streamed to EVERYONE.
There's a reason Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and all the other industry leaders present and announce their newest products during their own E3 press conferences and not at Gamescom.
Although Gamescom has a larger attendance ratio than e3. E3 is mostly veiwed online via gamestrailers, ign, etc. It is also watched on Spike TV. Reported on hundreds of thousands of gaming sites. E3 is known to have the biggest gaming reveals for many years now. Although the attendance ratio is small...you are not counting the tens of thousands of people that watch it online...This is almost impossible to calculate since its watched on over 10 different sources.
lol you guys have the worst logic ever..
Yoshida: Well, the public release of version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. We also plan to unveil a brand new promotion site for version 2.0 soon after E3 ends.
Lodestone Forum: So that means he's not showing anything at E3!!!
Anyway what are you guys trying to whine about? 2.0 won't be released until the end of this year they have plenty of time to show you the new stuff. This entire forum is nothing but whining, trolling, and self-entitlement. There will be a huge time for this game to show 2.0 you've waited 2 years you can wait a bit longer.
Except one little thing: E3 has 45,000 people plus hundreds of thousands of online views on streams and is the one gaming event that gets the most coverage in pretty much every gaming site. From Gamespot to IGN to Kotaku to randomguysgamingblog.com, E3 will be the one thing everyone will be talking about. If someone farts on E3, the whole world will know seconds later. That kind of thing just doesn't happen with Gamescon, TGS or any other gaming event.
So, I too believe that not presenting FFXIV on E3 is an error. They need to start marketing FFXIV 2.0 as early as possible, and yes, E3 would be a nice start, with or without a trailer. August might be too late, given the fact that so many people out there either believe the game is the exact same thing as 2010 or think it's has been shut down and erased from everyone's memories.
To me, it seems that SE is missing pretty much every chance they get to market this thing, and like I've said, when they actually decide to start it, it might already be too late.
