Why Alphinaud and Alisaie are so well treated despite being just kids

Did you manage to purge both XIII from your memory? The majority of its cast, including the most main-ish character, are over 20.

(Arguably XII, too, unless you consider only Vaan a main character there. I mention this primarily because, in literary terms at least, there are better candidates for the "protagonist" of the story, a term otherwise largely interchangeable with MC, from what I recall of the story.)

theyre related to fourchenault and louisoix. kids born into a rich and powerful family enjoying the privilege that comes with it. almost like real life.

Literally half the party in XII are teenagers lol. Ashe is 17 in the prologue, 19 in the main game.

TL;DR

-The twins are considered of age in their home society
-Being the grandkids of the great archon Louisoix, a hero to Eorzea
-The kids of the wealthiest and most influential family of Sharlaya
-The fact that both have proven themselves as capable individuals in their own rights in their fields
-This is a an MMO with JRPG influence so capable characters in the latter half of their teens are common

is this about alphi and the crystal braves? alphi accepted responsibility for the whole assassination banquet in a cutscene where he admitted that his arrogance was the cause because he was the crystal braves' creator.

People also forget that "life expectancy" dosnt mean "most people die with thirty" the life expectancy was so low because(in part) child mortaility rates being super high.


If you have a ton of people die when they are like 5, that will drag down the average significantly

2.0 cutscenes imply they were staying in Ul'dah where your worth is determined by how wealthy you are. Theres your answer.

Accurate but not valid simultaneously, people in Rome lived as long as we did today if they were wealthy. However, if you were not, and this went for the majority of the middle ages, your actual life expectancy was around 30 - 40. Most societies asked their elders to kill themselves to save food in the winter, especially if crops were unsuccessful. Even ten years ago, many of our nations did not prolong education till age 18. We allowed people to leave at 15-16 to find work, but this has become untenable as society has gone from valuing low skilled labour to highly skilled labour, demanding a degree or 5+ years of experience, which are untenable by a 16-year-old.

Not exactly. The WoL and Scions become persona non grata. No blame was attached to Alphinaud by those in power. How Alphinaud himself felt may have been established in the cut scene. But the real perpetrator died at the banquet, and the main corrupter of the Crystal Braves warmly embraced death while performing a summoning ritual two expansions later.

its not that alphi is being blamed for the assassination attempt itself but he was still very foolish for creating a company which had people working for teledji and lolorito. obviously the traitors themselves are the real perpetrators but alphi couldve at least done something to make sure he wasnt hiring spies. being negligent has its consequences.

The claim being contested was that FF hasn't had a single main party character over 19 since FFVII. Half the cast would be greater than 0, no? If so, both XII and XIII stand as counterexamples.
