6.0 Hopes and Fears?

Hopes:
-New healer
-Healers get their own job identity and more things to do than spam 1 spell in between healing
-Male viera and female hrotghar
-Female viera and male hrotgar get finished
-We kill Zenos already
-No more Zenos, please
-Seriously no need for more Zenos
-Story that is at least 2/3 of the quality of shadowbringers

Fears:
-They wont have budget to add any of the things stated above
-Zenos will become main villain for 2 more expansions

I don't see this way myself. From Heavensward onwards they put mobs in the most inconvenient spots possible which seriously gets in the way of on-foot exploration. And it feels like it only got worse with Stormblood and then Shadowbringers. I wish they either put less wild/aggressive monsters or just placed them in a less haphazard manner in the future. ARR had better mobs placement and not all of them were aggressive, so if anything it became less accessible.

All of these people hoping we get rid of Zenos should hope we deal with him in 5.5, because I don’t want to deal with him for another full expansion.

Updated & improved character creator- the FFXIV character creator shows its age & needs an overhaul & if Blizzard can update their character creator for WoW, so can Square Enix with FFXIV

I would love for tweaks to be made to Elezen.

I want them to have slightly shorter arms and slightly bigger heads to make them more like the concept art (which have silhouettes different than the hyurs)

Another hope is to choose our character's idle stance which we can do in game through timing and /cpose it just doesn't show in cutscenes. It would be nice to select a a resting stance for cutscenes.

....more character customization tweaks in general, I guess I'm saying.

My hopes:
- a decent story after what ShB brought us
- more diversity in job rotations. Specifically in healers, but would still love more diversity in everything else.
- a new healer
- give some utility back to NIN and BRD
- more free inventory space
- brand new glamour system that is similar to the transmog
- fixed some of the housing problems
(kind of hoping for male vieras and female hrothgar, but I know that won't be happening)

My fears:
- jobs are going to get more simplified and dumbed down for the sake of "accessibility", as well as homogenized
- Fandaniel is the new Joker
- no inventory space
- housing is still terrible
- more limited jobs
- new gear still gets terrible dye options, and has undyeable black colouring somewhere.

I don't think there's a race with a bigger gap between the concept art and in-game models. They really deserved better. It's one of the only games where the elven race doesn't appeal to me.

I am hoping they will reinvest in FFXIV and give it an HD overhaul. The last thing I want to see is FFXIV given minimum staff for a by-the-numbers expansion. The outdated graphics seem like they're exponentially getting more noticeable every year. I don't play the game for graphics but there is a limit to how far behind a modern game can get.

I think there's something to be said for having a unique take on elves vs. the standard 'Lothlorien'-type elves we see in a lot of media, but with Elezen it looks like they tried to have it both ways and... This is the result.

The female Elezen in that art especially looks nothing like how they look in the game with the slim shoulders and slightly larger head, it's closer to the proportions Viera ended up getting.

That said though I still think they can look nice in the game (though not as nice as the concept art) but once they start running it really is just tragic.

Hopes:

* Eyebrows for male Highlanders

* Underclothing sets (like the Hempen Undershirt and Hempen Camise.) being split into multiple items so that each race can equip a different race's version of them.

* Male Viera and Female Hrothgar. (Man, a few people will be pissed if we don't get them.)

* A DPS job that dual-wields hatchets.

Fears:

* People being PISSED about not getting ♂Viera and ♀Hrothgar (To be honest, I'd be a little upset, too.)

* Zenos and/or Fandaniel being really... really... really bland.

I started the game with a male elezen, but the weird proportions and the run just ruined it for me. I've switched to a male derplander since and haven't looked back. Occasionally switch to male au ra since I like those too. Even with their own oddities, they're still not as awkward as Elezen and they look very good in certain gear types.

I don't really mind a unique take on elves, per se - in fact, I really loved how WoW handled night and blood elves (up to the end of TBC anyway), as they're amongst the most interesting looking elves out there, while still being attractive. Same with the Witcher 3's Aen Elle, etc. It's just that they still need to look good in some way, and elezen, far from the elven archetype of graceful elegance, are the opposite of that, even if they have attractive faces. I don't think they'll ever fix it, since they think it'll risk upsetting existing players. Their workaround seems to have been to cast Viera in the wood elf type role, but obviously with only one half of them added.

In Stormblood I was still a WAR main, but I loved another job quite a bit but not as much. I am talking about the Astrologian. I was happy with WAR in Shadowbringers, but not at all happy with what they did to AST. It's been over a year since and I've tried AST frequently. I like it more than I did with AST on Shadowbringers release, but I still really hate the cards and the Divination mechanic and everything about the job gauge. Next expansion, I hope in general they revise their approach to healers... There seems to be some kind of mental block in the development team. I hope SCH and AST come up with designs that are more fun. My fear is that they find a way to make WAR unfun and I end up with no jobs I have much attachment to.

Hopes:
- Jobs being unique from one another instead of being homogenized.
- big overwork on PvP so that 1vs1 Matches are finally working on every matchup possibility.
- another Deep Dungeon.
- Dungeons which aren't marathon tracks with 3 bosses and ads in between.
- higher difficulty options for already existing dungeons or rework.
- Equipment stored in the Glamour Chest becomes "all jobs" for the glamour purposes.

Fears/Expects:
- Jobs getting dumbed down even further.
- another attempt to remove Energy Drain from Scholar.
- no changes to the dungeon template they're using.
- unsignificant potency changes
- MP being removed
- maybe HP too since you can't die out in the field and inside Dungeons anyway.
- further Monk adjustments will give the Job inner release and stances will be gone.

While I agree the difference is striking...what about the Au Ra? I'd wager they top the elezen, but if not they are definitely second

They were far more like the draconic race nearly everyone wants them to be in concept art.

Hopes: more glam dresser space (more than the usual 200 per expac.. we need 400 this time around)

Fears: They keep pushing healers in the wrong direction... Probably going to happen since they haven't listened to the community these past 6 years, I don't really see this changing.

There will be 0 complaints from me if they fix our shoulders and nothing else. IMO that's the major problem with elezen. Neck being long - necklaces. Run cycle - eugh I can live with it. Shoulder proportions though? I swear its 90% the reason why I can't wear certain gear in this game.

Hopes

- I hope the story is good and Zenos surprises me. I actually would like him to kill someone important, I think it would help his character and most of the scions have served their purpose.
- I hope there’s a colourful new job. I’d like Corsair, Chemist, Juggler, something fun and light
- MCH buffs
- Less scions but more Ryne and Alisae
- Another zone like Doma Enclave
- Ala Mhigo Restoration
- Do something with the world of darkness
- Final Fantasy 7

Fears

- I think story might be a letdown, not terrible but like going from HW to SB was.
- boring jobs
- MCH nerfs
- Ryne sits out like lyse sat out SHB and never becomes a scion of the seventh dawn :(
- Boring content in general.. we’ve been spoilt a bit lately.

Hope: That they stop with the f---ing Limited Jobs.

Fear: That they keep adding the f---ing Limited Jobs.

Hope they revamp / refresh some older content like chocobos, squadron, grand companies, armoire system... everything feels old and left to rot
Hope they find a good balance for healers, possibly granting us more DPS skills / rotations or giving more mobs that can only be killed via healing

Fear that story will be very Garlean-centric, which after I-don't-know-how-many-years is really no longer welcome in my book

Hope: That they improve and build upon Limited Jobs by adding Beast Tamer, and content that both BST and BLU can take part in together.

- I know she's gone, but I want to see minfilia once again. Properly says goodbye to her.
- we don't actually deal with the Sound at 6.0, but it was kept for 7.0 onwards for plot
- they finally addressed the problem with ilvl cheese for alliance raid. I'm sick of CT.
- we go to Garlemad, and not sharlayan.

Fears:
- Zenos being the last boss, I much prefer if fandaniel is the last one
-Zenos somehow survive 6.0
- hydaelyn is secretly evil
- homogenizing jobs even further
- No drk and sch rework (they're too simple)
- more g'raha and alisae being obsessed with us (seriously, it's getting creepy). At least give us the option to tell them off.
- g'raha keep stealing the spotlight from other scions/characters
- more rework to simplify crafting

More Dungeons and Trials is what I'm hoping for, 5.X's lack of them really bummed me out.

Other ones? Chemist as a healer, healers being reworked to be more engaging, DRK being made into something unique and not just edgy WAR, BLU upgraded to a full Job, more of the special metallic dyes added a patch or so ago, like the bronze (should be the one in my char pic if I had it on when I logged off) and white ones, they look so natural on armour compared to the regular dyes.

My hopes have little chance to happen but well:
- One new healer, and a complete reconsideration of how healing works in FFXIV. LEt's just embrace the DPS during downtime path, and give healers somethings to do.
- Roll back some of the jobs identity / complexities. Just between 4.X and 5.X, DPS lost a few things to micro-manage (agro, apocastasis / palissade, mana shift) and while those were not essential, they were nice things to keep in mind, and it added up to more things to have in mind. Now we don't have any of that, AND most rotations have been simplified.
If this means only adding one new job with the remaining resources allocated to rethinking existing jobs, honestly I'm fine with that. I don't trust them adding new jobs without breaking others (like how Dancer came in with lots of support and Bard lost most of its support kit)
- Like almost everyone, I am not convinced by Fandaniel and Zenos. True, Solus was "meh" when he appeared in 4.4 and he was very well written in 5.0, but Zenos has been an empty lukewarm shell since his introduction, and Fandaniel just doesn't work, for me. I'd love some BIG SURPRISE where 5.5 trial is the WOL against them, and 6.0 is a completely different story. Yes it would feel rushed, but that is what these characters deserve in my opinion.
- Shaking the habitual cycle of content. Let's face it, Shadowbringers is the all time lowest on content. Ishgard is mostly reused assets, ever repeating the same content. We have one dungeon less in even patch compared to Stormblood. Relic first step was a joke, Bozja's first proper iteration was lackluster, Blue Mage is recycled content, so are Unreal trials, no deep dungeon, no sign of a second Ultimate fight (although it whould happen in 5.5). (But we had Trusts and Ocean Fishing, right). Everything wears out so fast.
- Not a real hope, but I trust them with 6.0 MSQ. I don't really care if it is not as good as 5.0, it should be good. Just like Stormblood wasn't as good as Heavensward, but still enjoyable anyway.
- While I'm not actually concerned, I think it would be fair ifViera and Hrothgar could finally wear headgear, and have their missing genders added. If no new race will be added as they indicated, they might want to consider updating the current races.

Fears (again, I'm pretty sure they will happen and I made up my mind, but one can dream):
- Another layer of oversimplification of jobs and overall content.
- Healing situation not addressed
- Launch issues for jobs. AST was cruelly underpowered, RDM could not keep its MP, SMN had an oGCD bloat for average damage, SCH lost energy drain, BRD lost all support...
- More and more visual improvements, but lackluster content with no replayability (see solo instances in Bozja and Werlyt, the Pixie extra zone)
- Personal opinion here, but I think the Eden raids were not that good, especially Eden's Promise. I get the "Final Fantasy fan service" can be annoying, but I think it worked fine in Omega, or Alexander 11, and these fights had their own identity. I didn't like the FFXIV primals revisited for Eden, it starts being too much "already seen". So a 6.0 raid serie with 100% original fights would be perfect. (I can say the exact same thing about the Trials in 5.X actually, the Weapons were boring and on the easy side. MSQ trials were okay at best. Story and visuals are great, but the gameplay, not so much)

Listen I could care less about numbers but Complexity? Your saying Ranged jobs due to them being Ranged have to be less complex too? This is the most backwards logic I’ve ever heard in a while

Already see topics begging BRD to be dragged to their level cuz they don’t have closed position and it’s numbers are 0.4716% lower than average. Maybe that’s my fear after all complete ruination of fun flowing jobs for Ranged.
