Bazaars are for transactions, not -bleep- storage!

My complaint is a valid complaint. One looks in a bazaar, expecting to find items for sale (or stuff to repair if they have a repair request in there), and more often than not, it's not the case. Considering what bazaars were created for, to me this is a legitimate frustration. I'm proposing that this problem be resolved. As compensation for bazaars not being their own little space, you gain the same amount of inventory space that was previously provided by the bazaar. This way you get 10 more storage, just like before, and nobody else has to check you and find stuff you have no intention of selling.

Bazaar can be utilized to hold two identical unique items, your proposal of simply giving everyone 10 extra space won't help, this is especially helpful with how the loot is like in AV and CC. Without bazaar, many of these loot would go to waste. If you have bought anything from the Market Ward that comes from one of those dungeons, you are benefiting from the fact that bazaar can be used as storage.

That's an abuse, not a feature. You shouldnt even be getting two of the same unique item on a single event, so what reason is there that you can't just put it on a retainer?

Make it a special bag or something that lets you carry more unique items (Defeats the purpose of the unique tag, but whatever- since everyone hates limiting mechanics) and seperate the bazaar functionality from it. I don't want to see the unique items you're holding but dont want to sell. I want to see the stuff you want to sell.

There are reasons why someone cannot go back to the wards after each run so they can transfer the loot to the retainers to sell.

1. Group may not end in one run (in fact all of the groups I've joined so far do at least two runs, if not more).
2. You may be wearing/using some of the loot already.

Like I said, if you have bought from the ward or given any drops from Aurum or Cutter's from a friend, you yourself is a hypocrite that have benefited from the so called "flawed system" yet you preach against it.

Your logic is flawed. I use my bazaar for storage, but I'm not placing anything up for 999,999,999. When I need space I put something in the bazaar I would be willing to part with for double the normal price. None of these items ever sell but 15k for a tier 1 materia doesnt look terrible to you, just over priced. So I can place things up for sale and store them at the same time and if they sell then great, I'll get more to use.

I don't stand around in uldah. I dont leave my pc on to bazaar. Its pointless for me to try selling items seriously in my bazaar(huge waste of time). But the bottom line is.. you cant do anything about this. Dont let it annoy you.

i like standing in uldah and afking i like using my bazaar for extra storage especially when i have just solo farmed 5+ sentinel drops and holding them all in my bazaar at 999999999 price before i try double/triple meld them and blow them all up, i also like drinking to excess puking my guts up feeling like shit for a couple of days after, or even crossing the road without looking both ways, hell i even did a lot of drugs in my day and drove my car and rode my bike fast over the speed limit.....

Actually, it's a flaw in certain forum users, and I'd love for them to be removed.

You aren't even listening to reasonable suggestions here.

I know one thing a lot of people asked for in FFXI to resolve this issue there was to add a "showcase." This could be viewed by other players seperately from the bazaar and also keeps you from accidentally tossing stuff like the bazaar. Then people would see two options, one for the showcase and one for the bazaar. This way, you can still abuse the crap out of carrying more than one unique item and safeguard anything else important of yours, and at the same time, people won't see a 'brows bazaar' option if you aren't actually selling anything.

I'm totally bewildered as to why nobody would actually want bazaars to be bazaars. I'm even more bewildered as to why so many people's reaction to this thread is "I CAN DO WHAT I WANT AND <insert stupid meme video or image here>".

I'm constantly running out space myself, even with 500 spaces. I've got multiple AF gear, non-AF gear, Ifrit weapons, Moogle weapons, event items, normal quality materials, +1 materials, +3 materials, different types of materia... and yes I admit, I do like to hoard stuff. But as new stuff continues to come out, this is going to be a growing problem.

I suggest one or more of the following things needs to happen:

- Allow us to have more than 2 retainers, but have to pay for them/earn them somehow
- Give us a quest or some way to earn a "gobbie bag" or similar extra inventory (isn't there still one gear slot that still isn't being used for anything...?)
- Expand upon what can be placed in the inn's armoires for the next patch
- Allow crafters to make things like cabinets, safes, etc. as storage units once player housing is implemented
- Further expand item stacks to 999
- Expand our current inventory and have additional tabs/categories for things like gear, loot, materia, crystals, currency, etc.

All great ideas. The only problem is no matter how much storage you give people, they will find a way to fill it and the complaining and bazaar-storing will resume.

This is exactly how I feel. It's so annoying to see internet meme's posted for replies and seeing SE official forums turn into trash basically. It's been going down hill for a few months now lol. 4chan stuff belongs on 4chan.

I don't get why everyone is so against your idea also. I miss the FFXI bazaars and finding useful stuff in them. I don't mind people having extra storage but seeing the bazaar system not being utilized to its fullest makes me sad ; ; Like everything else though I imagine it will be addressed and fixed in 2.0 /crossesfingers

It's obviously a QQ thread. Especialy after implementation of ward search, merge and 1.22 access to international wards (from any city) this "problem" that you keep crying about over and over in this thread is such a minor thing that its not even worth mentioning. At this point its nothing but telling others that they should listen to you and use bazaar as intended. Bazaar is completely out dated and useless cause everything in game is easily obtainable via ward search. Just because a system gets outdated at some point in game doesnt mean that you have to cry about it and require some change, its still usefull for other purposes mentioned above and theres no emergency to change anything about it right now, seeing how there thousands of other things that should be prioritized. So stop making a big deal out of it. If you are trying to make ppl use bazaar as intended - you fail, if you are trying to reach devs by continuous crying you will only get some answer like "this issue will be overlooked after 2.0" so you are failing either way. I think also that personal bazaar needs a fix, it isnt working for its purpose, i do not check any player bazaar since the first month the game came out cos you know that you will prolly find items at 999.999.999 gil.

Im not saying to remove the 10 inventory space extra you have but make any other improvements, like you can make a static chat bubble with some words of what are you selling or something like that, something that tells what are you selling or what type of items are you selling without having to be checked first...

well here's a thing. originally i did use my bazaar for selling items and i still do when i am in a situation that warrants it. when i am crafting i use it to hold additional materials i am using because i grind when crafting. when i'm farming i'll hold collected materials to save space. when i am at a dungeon you can usually find me with foods and potions for multiple classes.

the point is originally when people did use the bazaars for actually selling items they hardly ever sold at all. the only time you would sell an item off your personal bazaar is if you went afk in a place that there was a group of people or an area large groups of people would pass by it daily. why would you go afk for the night to try and sell a few items if you were lucky when you can sell them off your retainers and get a bonus for logging out at one of the inns?

now go to the way it is now. with as many people in uldah right now there is no way you can tell me that you run through and check each and every person's bazaar there(you can't even get them to all load at once to see them). if you aren't checking everyone's bazaar's what would be the point in trying to sell anything out of it in the first place? if you are the question is why in the world would you spend 3 hours looking at each and every individual bazaar when it would take you 2 min to check the wards and buy from there even cheaper?

Um... if its in the game, and its not a cheat, does not hurt me, you or SE. then i will do what i want.

You can blame the launch and general structure of bazaars for the sorry state that the system is in and why it has (to my knowledge) stayed that way, and probably will stay until 2.0. Here's a little story for you!

Back in the first few weeks before it became the norm to stuff extra items in your bazaar, I found a pretty damn cheap mid-R20 range polearm that I could use in the near future. Naturally, I wanted to buy it before somebody else did.

Great! It was used properly back then. Guess what happened next? I got to chase the person down for about 2 minutes before I finally sent the player a tell politely asking them to stop so that I could actually purchase the weapon. Not sure if it's still the same way now since there is very little reason to check, but your character is frozen in place while the bazaar window is up.

Combine that with the lack of notification for your bazaar being examined by X player as well as the fact that you need to be within trading range to actually buy something, you have a clunky, highly user-unfriendly system which is a hassle to even think about utilizing.

Sorry to say, but we're playing in 1.X's limitations and I really don't see the bazaar system as a high priority fix before the relaunch. Maybe in 2.0 when they revamp everything we'll see something of an improvement.

A sensible post, for once. I understand what you're saying- though the main appeal of bazaar selling is to sell related items to a particular location- for example, selling ammo and consumables near the entrance of a popular camping spot or raid. This is what I liked most about the system. Think back to XI, especially the early days. There were almost always bazaars in Selbina or by the zone in the dunes to sell people food and stuff. This was where the brilliance of the feature really shined. They carry the same system over to XIV, but once the market wards became functional, people forgot about this (even though the auction house didn't have the same effect in FFXI)

I sell things in my bazzar all the time, if everyone was like "use bazaar is storage" People wouldn't look in em anymore, there for I wouldn't sell things.

So yes, it does effect everyone.

Dense Rokien is dense again.

The Market Wards is better in every way. It gets more traffic as a plus for the seller, and has more competitive prices as a plus for the buyer. It's also in a single spot accessible by everyone. There's no reason to actually use a bazaar to sell anything. If everyone decided to put shit up for sale on their bazaars only - and most people don't even fill their entire bazaar with storage - the market wards would still be preferred. This is why people stopped using their personal bazaars.

So other than to play devil's advocate here on the forums, or to just try and sell shit that way for w.e personal reasons you may have, there's no reason for you to reduce your ability to sell efficiently by using a personal bazaar over the market wards.

I get that and loved using/checking bazaars alongside the AH back on XI. There were just some items that you weren't allowed to put on the AH that you could pawn off or purchase in a bazaar (Aketons, Signet staves, Beastman caps, etc.)

There are some key differences between this and XI's bazaar systems though, and by differences I mean things that were left behind which (in my opinion, at least) make the current 1.X bazaar system borderline unusable.

XI:

• Players got a notification both in the chat log (unless filtered) and a little bag above the HP/MP plate when being browsed. People tended to stop moving when this happened unless they were being chased by Goblins or something.
  
• Players examining bazaars could continue to move freely and make purchases from a decent distance away.
  
• Say someone was shouting in Jeuno that they had X item for sale in their bazaar at <pos>. Even if they didn't load up on screen, you could type in /c *name here* and still view their bazaar as long as you were in their general vicinity.
  
• Some items could not be sold on the AH but could be sold in bazaars or traded in person
  
• Bazaar'd items did not free up normal inventory space.

Now, in XIV we have...

• No notification whatsoever, let it be text based or visually cued by an icon.
  
• Players checking bazaars are frozen in place, and due to the lack of a notification for being examined, the other party will continue to run around as they see fit and run out of trading range
  
• The inability to check the bazaar of a character who is not loaded up on your screen. You're forced to wait until the client happens to load up the person who was shouting about selling X item in their bazaar
  
• Bazaar'd items are removed from the basic inventory, which is a nice gimmick for those of us who could use the extra space, but is the bane of the system as a whole.

Again, I loved the system in XI and hope that it's improved come 2.0. Though the way things are now, my bag and retainers are full with gear for the classes I actively play, the AF for the corresponding jobs, event items (thank the twelve for the armoire next patch), and stacks of low-mid level mats from gathering for personal use/giving to LS mates who are starting up on DoH.
Frankly, I just need that extra 10 slots and will use the currently abysmal bazaar system as a means to get that extra bit of space until it is fixed.

Adding 10 more slots wont help.

Adding a house with XXX storage spaces (storage furnitures like FFXI) most likely would solve it for some time.
Either way, storage will always be a "problem" depeing on your "Hoarding".

Okay, I am intrigued, how is the bazaar used in a way that is arguably cheating?

It is not the suggestion that is making people call it a QQ thread. It is the presentation. The hysterics and aggressive phrasing is also causing some of the responses.

In reality, there is nothing to it that needs to be defended on your side or convinced of by others. It is a simple preference issue.
