So don't :D

People whined all the same when Airships didn't require a quest to do and could be taken at any level, when favored locations came in, when ports directly to cities were cut in half, when return was reduce to 0 anima, etc. You'll get over it and nobody will care after a week or two.
dont like it dont use it.
Actually I made a thread asking for anima to be reduced to 0 since people were already blood warping and people flamed the shit out of me.
So yeah, I'm confident enough to say this is lousy design.
edit:
Currently the only use for airships is to avoid gil costs when moving from one city to another.
After this? Why would anyone pay 5k to ride an airship which actually takes time and walking?
I like the idea of being able to tele to inn. The question is... how many anima will it take to teleport to inn? <_<; Cuz I'm disgusted with spending 6 anima when I only have 10 most of the time.
Does anyone even use the boat or airships anymore anyway?
Sargatanas must be aeronavisphobic then because those trips are pretty lonely.
Laziness has nothing to do with it, but if you need to tell yourself that to feel smug, feel free. I and others in my LS use the airship and chocobos in order to save anima for quests and leves. Usually there are about six or seven others using the airship at the same time. Reduced anima costs, etc. don't stop people from using those features, they just offer a greater variety of choices.
Kind of a silly interpretation, considering you aren't really playing when riding the airship, just standing in one spot. But hey, your right to pretensions
Aren't you being a tad bit overdramatic? In spite of all the anima breaks people have been given, people still use chocobos, airships and even the boat.
Perhaps I never said anything about chocbos, and I highly doubt many people use the boat...if any.
I don't blame people for wanting a easy way around the game world, I just think they are focusing on the issue rather than a solution. Making the game a series of loading screens from a personal hub is not where this game should be headed (Everytime they update anything about travel we are getting closer to playing Phantasy star Online).
The developers should (I hope they are) Focusing on making the game world so awesome that people would be stupid to not traverse it.
*edit*
Please don't lump me in with people wanting teleportation and convience to be totally abolished, I just think we have crossed a line and I'm afraid at how it will effect the game world itself.
Teleports just need to be reasonably spaced out and take just a smidgen of effort to actually obtain.
The boat never stood a chance. Anima is always going to preferable to running entirely out of the way and riding a boat for 5 minutes and when airship restrictions were nothing more than "go to the third floor", it pretty much sealed the deal. The only thing that will get people riding the boat is making it go somewhere that Anima can't reach that has worthwhile content, put content on it, or make it worthwhile for fishing; otherwise, people are always going to choose Airship/Anima over it.
Just popping in from Ridillbina to say Rokien's an idiot and should be ignored.
I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how allowing to set your home point in two different cities won't render airship travel useless.
Currently that's what I use the airship for: move from city to city. It takes walking to the airport, it costs 5k, and it takes some walking again.
How will being able to hit 1 button at NO cost to teleport yourself from city to city DIRECTLY into the inn or gate NOT render airships completely useless as means of transporation?
At most you could say that SOMETIMES you need to go to the third city, but how often can that be, honestly? If it were really that often, you'd just change your HP.
So... I want my inn return point to be in uldah but i want my HP to Broken water so i can do leves whats your point? Does not matter if someone can do Uldah inn then grid HP. It's their choice, you are still limiting your self if you keep your hp in a town when you can use an inn.
I care about game balance. It matters.
Do you think I would be taking the airship if they implement this? Hell no.
If they enabled an option to toggle infinite HP on and off, would I keep god mod off when doing ifrit runs for equip and such? Hell no.
Doesn't mean its good design and it doesn't mean it won't ruin that aspect of the game.
You're making very broad assumptions about how it's going to work when nothing has been explained so you can say it's making Airships die. You're also jumping to the conclusion that the entire playerbase will set their HPs in two cities which, spoiler alert:
They won't
- Yes and it will still be available and used in the situations where a teleport can't get the job done (i.e. getting to a third city, and a fourth when Ishgard is opened)
- Here comes the bulls**t blanket "stop liking what I don't like" term
- They will still be available, this will not stop devs from doing this
- And... they will still be available to use when teleports don't cut it. And fyi, new gil sinks can always be created.
A lot of people use airships. The one in uldah always has people waiting.
It seems pretty clear in that japanese translation.
Set Inn in gridania.
Set HP in uldah.
Want to go to the inn in uldah? Return to uldah, then walk to the inn.
(Works the other way around too)
