New Relic weapon quest - are we down to 1 hour content already?

There was a literal interview about that where they specifically said they have no plans to do that despite the massive number of people asking for harder 4-man content.

It's literally the first step, acquisition. That's always braindead easy.
I expect the first upgrade to be more of an investment, but I also expected this to come with the first upgrade so...

I think there will be some Eureka style content to come. Personally Eureka was a lot of fun for me and relatively popular as far as relic chases go in my opinion. Instances still have quite a few people and many are still doing BA. I'm happy with the new relic introduction.

No matter which MMO it is, there will always be people who burn through content no matter who much it is. There isnt enough content a dev could do to satisfy that play style. For a first step, I dont really see what the problem is. I'm still trying to farm light for the anima relic. It's tedious. Its repetitive. And at time it can be fun and it times its not.

We dont need a complete slog like that again.

I want to see what they mean by blend. I've gone back into Eureka recently after all the nerfs; still nah.

If it weren't for all the rewards they stuck in there to incentivize the content, I doubt as many people would still be doing it. Glad that at least some of the rewards are MB tradeable; so I can just buy them off the MB and do content that I enjoy

Fate and Dungeon spam for relics is garbage... 100% agree. I hated that in ARR and HW... alot. Eureka was better in my eyes, but the first 2 areas were still flawed. After that got better. They needed to take that and build on it, fix the issues, and build on it not toss it away.

And you are wrong about no mmos being able to do that, most modern mmos ok that I agree with. But I use to put 50-60hrs a week into mmos back in my college days, now I average 30 pre-stay at home / 40 current since I cannot leave the house. I had mmos I played where that 60hrs was 100% filled with progression content for years at a time with no breaks. Now todays mmos are more casual focused granted, but the amount we have is not ok. I expected relics to take say 1-2 weeks for a normal gamer (20-30hrs) per relic weapon... I think that would be a ok progression rate for a casual style mmo. This is more or less designed for people who play 30mins a week.

While this may be true for many people... there are also players who aren't going to be playing the remake (I speak for myself here as an example) so it would have been nice to have something more substantial. Given that the relic is traditionally content to keep you occupied for the better part of the expansion, having it able to be completed so quickly is a bit disappointing. Even if it has more steps and you were going to play the remake, it's always been something you could come back to later on.

Dont even try to communicate with people who defending this, SE can slap vendor with wall of text as dialog and they still will praise it and lick corporate boots. People are happy that they dont need to do anything to get something, like, actually play the game, they got weapons for free, and its on par with Ruby extreme one. These people dont even want to play the game, they literally saying "Its good, I will have more time to play another game".

That means you can just throw us 1 easy duty and trial? Better solution just don't do anything, it's a choice as well.
Maybe we should look at what ARR gave us, when they just started and not so many people even played this game, when nowadays its really big MMO project that keeps good income for SE. Really good example.

This is how I feel about it too. I've been seriously lagging in other classes, so having a faster completion makes it easier to gear them up. Besides, we all know that the first step is always the easy part. The next parts will be the ones that drive us absolutely insane.

On one side I am sad that it was such short content. However at the same time I am happy because it gives me more time to play other games.

Even if the others do have more/longer steps, you're not exactly describing them in equal terms.

Yes, the ARR weapon has "unique trials" but what did we get just now? A new field zone, unique dungeon with multiple bosses (and story for those who care), and unique EX trial. The trial doesn't drop weapon components of course, but it's part of the package and people will certainly be grinding for their dyeable relic gear whether it's valuable as equipment or not. Also Eureka's elemental gear suggests the possibility that this is step one of another gear grind.

I just don't see the appeal of having to farm FATEs to gather up huge amounts of crystals. If you're disappointed that SE didn't force you to do it to earn your relic, would you voluntarily participate in an equal amount of FATEs just to amuse yourself? If so, there's nothing stopping you. Make your own grind - tell yourself you're not getting that weapon until you've done X arbitrary tasks. Do FATEs and roll some dice after each one; only progress if you rolled a 12. Run all the Eden raids.

If you don't want to put yourself through that... why is it appealing to be required to do them, if you wouldn't want to spend your time on it otherwise?

Ha, ain't that the truth? The ones complaining now about how short this is are going to complaining about how long the next one will be. Meanwhile those of us who have lived through any previous Relic quest are looking at them and saying "You poor sweet summer child...you know not of the misery that awaits you soon." This quest is the calm before the storm. The storm that will take days to months to survive through depending on your pace.

Not the same quantity of rewards. I tried/followed Eureka when it first dropped. No other piece of content had so many rewards tied to it during that period.

Maybe people want something that is an interesting grind? Eureka was boring to me and you needed to grind a lot..but if people are right the answer to that is one long cutscene and one solo fight. How about a nice middle ground? Even if this is just the first step they could have still done much more. Dont need to be a massive grind but also not just that.

Please make sure to see if its the same people that are in your eyes crying. ;) Cant have the possibilty that there are many people posting here with different opinions and thus one could find this one too short and another ones hates the next step because its too long...of course also lets ignore that maybe SE cant just seem to get it right with their grinds. So yes someone posting here that its too short but also posting later that another step is too grindy can be right. Maybe SE then simply switched it to the other extreme.

Found this. Not sure if it's been posted yet. Guess this relic will be casual the entire way through. Makes sense if they're also having crafting relics to work towards as well this time around though.

No PC version means no FFVII for me so the lack of content hurts. I appreciate the attention to crafting and gathering but I think there going too far now at the expense of PVE content.

This is an insult ... we were waiting for content to grind to keep us busy between patches ... and now its THIS. 1h of Quests and the cost of 1k poetics per weapon ... its a disaster what ShB is turning into ... they scratched the bloody HM trial as well.

So what now i can go farm poetics ... this is just bad.

Stop crying, they could give you a free fully maxed out relic and you would still be wiping your tears.

Not every patch needs to be a massive dump. That was, in fact, what was changed post Heavensward to keep a steady and maintainable update cycle. This is not a 4.# patch, so it is to be expected to be not as huge as a main patch.

Even taking my time with the story, I was done within two hours. People keeping saying not to rush but the content simply doesn't last even at a gradual pace. Considering I've been sitting on Poetics for months now. I'm basically done three relics without an ounce of effort. So lets not pretend people are simply rushing through content.

Now I will say, the EX version is pretty damn fun. Not a hard fight by any means but a step up from Ruby at least.

Ugh, the countless crying in this thread gives me a headache. You have people who want it less grindy and then you have people who want it grindy. You just can't appease everyone. Of course, you have people who don't understand this because they are to self-centered which leads to these threads - lots of them.

Relic was always the grind, you had options if you wanted less grind ... its called tome/trial weapon. Half the world is under quarantine and we get our first ever non grind relic?

I've always said they really need to release their relics MUCH earlier than they do.

ARR had it at 2.0 and it gave fall back content if you were bored.

This current halfway through an expansion life cycle content is a really bad idea IMHO.

How about neither extreme? It shouldn't be one step only and it shouldn't require 100 hours to complete. A nice middle ground isn't unrealistic.

I have never been this disappointed on a patch day. Especially when I actually have the tone to sink my teeth into content and we get this garbage. Free relics for everyone on like 45 minutes? I’d rather do another Zeta than this crap. I’ve been sinking all my poetics into animal weapons for years now and have finished all but 2 of them and now I get to grind the same content for this? The Skysteel tools are a joke as well. Free relics for anyone who happens to acquire poetics or yellow scripts? What’s the point of doing any of this? No accomplishment, no pride, nothing special at all. I’ll be unsubbing for the first time since 2014 to play ffvii remake. This is a terrible sign of things to come. Dumbing everything down so everyone gets a prize.

i literaly hate the direction of this expansion so far, basically they are just going to the other extreme like there is no tomorrow, the old relics are to much grind? ok lets just make it 1 hour instead like WTH, we are getting way less content for the same price, the skill ceiling of this expansion has been lower to the ground and all the sacrified developed content has been translated to slightly more fancy custences you watch 1 time and never again? (for me at least), whats the freaking point to encourage you playerbase to play your game the lest amount of time as posible? now we have months of doing literaly nothing until the next nier raid wich is ridiculous and not everyone like doing crafting or tribes that just take what? 10 min per day, the old relics didn't even consume much time and you can even get 2-3 before the next step was released with the most casual schelude.

They separated FATE farming from relics this expansion. We have now been able to farm FATES for materials, minions, music and mount speed since the beginning of the expansion. The early relics are instead delivered with a story and a battle and some tomes, as they should be. I love it! Anemos was horrible in comparison.

And we also got an extra trial to farm glamour from. I consider that plus relic tools a worthy replacement for a second dungeon which doesn't offer any meaningful rewards.

They did tell us beforehand that this first step was going to be mainly story driven and not much work would be needed, and that enhancing the weapons in the next steps will take more work. I am also pretty excited to get started on the crafting and gathering relic tools. That is pretty awesome to me, that they are finally adding stuff to gathering and crafting and giving us some love and things to do.

Patch they specifically said was going to be short turned out to be short in the end.

This is seeming like less of a "lack of content" thread and more of a "I'm HARDCOEEERE! Damn welfare relickkkzz!" Thread.

I think for the first part of the questline it was totally fine. The cutscenes and lore were interesting. And that you can get the first weapon easily is fine for me too. I'm sure it'll get grindy enough in the upcoming steps.

The only thing I don't like is that they kind of invalidate the Ruby ex weapons.
