Well, they plan to bring Diadem back with the Ishgard Restauration, so so still think they will be bringing back the rewards and archivements as well. That's propably the reason why they haven't announced anything.

I didn't hate it as much as the masses would have you think everyone hated it.
Heck I didn't even hate Dino-hunt Diadem 1.0.
But after it became irrelevant, much like everything else, people moved on. My goals left remaining in The Diadem had to be put on the backburner because the public stopped going and the one or two I could wrangle into going via private airship was never enough to reliably complete the mission, let alone NM farm.
I can only hope that NMs are still there when it's revamped for the Ishgard restoration and players who want to kill NMs for achievements still can.
if Diadem is being re-purposed as Gatherer Island for Ishagard restoration it wouldn't make any sense (to me imo) that it would include NM's.
I'm a pragmatist and the pessimist also in me says this stuff is gone for good.
This has got me thinking, if there is anything you want from Eureka you might want to make sure you get it, no clue how long that will stick around.
I fought long and hard to get as many as I could. I've reached the end of my steam, and I'm quoting myself here because I realized something. The original Guild Hest and Levequests(Battle/Field/Craft) all had huge numbers tied to them. 10k I think for the Guildhest completion achievement, and the levequests were at, something like, 10k leves done to max out and get those achievements.
Square Enix heard the outcries on the impossibility of these and reduced the numbers to something, mostly more manageable. Meaning. They can adjust the numbers again for these achievements, and give them out too.

Remains a mystery to me that existing progress wasn't rolled up into another game aspect - killing NMs could easily have translated to doing likewise in Eureka, and a clear in the Baldesion Arsenal qualifying for clearing the Diadem EM. Total forays into Diadem could've also been inclusive of total forays into Eureka.
Really want to hear back from the devs on this one.
I'm still really hoping for a dev response as well. Here's where we are now post-5.1:
- The issue wasn't addressed by Yoshida in last night's patch note reading.
- It's being swept under the rug a bit by other players with the hype for new content (completely understandable).
- Some players only learned about Diadem's removal last night. Many players will wait for full notes before reading, it's not unusual.
- Existing (earned) Diadem achievements remain under Exploration -> Duty in the achievement log. They weren't moved.
- All unearned Diadem achievements are no longer visible, much like uncompleted seasonal events or ranked PvP, they're hidden if you didn't earn them prior to 5.1.
Registering my concern here as well. I have chased achievements for so long; once did a Hatching-Tide event at 8 fps from a deployed location to make sure I did not permanently miss the achievement for it. It is not the Diadem items or mounts or titles, it is having the completed achievements in my list that is irreplaceable. If these become permanently unobtainable, I know it is something that will bother me every time I look at my achievements list going forward. After reading this thread, I suspect I am not the only one whose game experience would be negatively affected this way.
Dead content removal is understandable, but advance notice hurts no one. Witness how the early broadcast of GARO's terminal date half a year beforehand boosted participation. Every seasonal event quest throws up multiple warnings about not being obtainable after the event end date, presumably for the same reason. There is a history of the game warning players when something that could permanently affect them is coming.
There was no comparable advance notice for removal of Diadem, and the damage from that is multiplied here because Diadem achievements --especially the randomly timed emergency mission-- require so many people for sustained periods. Expanded participation was scarce until it was known the content was being removed. Had there been six months of activity at the levels Diadem 2.0 saw in its last weekend, I am fairly certain those expressing concern here could have cleared everything they needed in time. I could try over the next 3 days to complete the achievement for winning 50 pvp Verminion matches, but the queue for a single game on Crystal as of my last attempt was something over 2 hours. Were that content announced as leaving, people would prioritize, I could get matches, and 50 wins would become possible with enough time.
Some have commented we should have earned these achievements sooner, and that by waiting we showed we were not really interested. I want the achievement for leveling Monk to 80 but did not do it immediately after 5.0 came out because I have no reason to believe they are removing that content from the game, and worked on other achievements. If they announce Monk and its achievements are being removed, I will prioritize accordingly, but I see no reason to play FFXIV under an assumption that any and all content is subject to permanent removal with no more than a couple days' notice. In fact I do not think that is a type of game a completionist would enjoy playing at all.
Announcing Diadem was being reworked conjured notions of its 3.55b makeover which still allowed obtaining the old achievements. My hope is that now it comes back new and improved, but with the same --not replaced, not renamed, but the exact same-- achievements in the list available that we would have had if we had earned them three years ago. Fingers crossed!
Why is it so hard to get a response for anything even just if its for clarification?
And why are french mods in the forums way more active with replying to actual player issues? :/
SE feels sometimes very unnecessary secretive about what is planned and their reasoning for something, "rather giving no reply than any" even if the diadem topic now is rather simple one, where you don't even have to spoiler future content to give an answer.
I have a hunch that Twitter may be to blame. It's pure speculation on my part but it's a lot more active than this place in regards to communication. Every few months we'll get a post from someone introducing themselves as a member of the community team and then we rarely, if ever, see them post again.
It's difficult not to notice that - and it's disappointing given that this place absolutely should be the first port of call for fresh info given that it's the official site and all. Not everybody uses social media for a variety of reasons, including privacy concerns.
Alternatively perhaps their hands are just tied?
I fear that it may only become content for gatherers. From the Live Letter Translation:
"Additionally, Diadem will be revamped into instanced content for gatherers."

The fact that they actually removed the achievements altogether strongly implies they are gone forever and not coming back in any form. If you got them, they're still on your achievement list. If you didn't, they poofed in 5.1 from the list completely, like other limited time achievements such as GARO and seasonal events.
Why has this still not been clarified?
If you're concerned about the rewards other than the achievements the rewards were added to the firmament area and you buy them with the scrips.
If you talk to Aurvael at this point he says that missions to the Diadem have been "suspended", and he's working on something new.
I will say that I'm glad that the dev team made everything available through Ishgard Restoration, but to a good number of people achievements are just as important as any cosmetic reward in the game. The lack of notice for removal—and subsequent silence on the matter—still very much stings.
Still waiting for at least an apology to those who wanted to keep at it. :(
That is nice I guess but still doesn't help those of us that were trying to do emergency mission :( oh well, at least some people were able to complete it. I ended up having it come up two times, one time no other parties were able to join instance and the second time party for north went center and we were not able to complete it.
Let's wait until next time they remove content and achievements without telling more than 3 days before. Maybe people will care more when its not diadem but something else. -_-
Don't forget to leave a 'like' on the original post of this thread. Unfortunately that tends to dictate whether a thread receives an official reply or not these days.
This is definitely one of those situations where some clarification would be appreciated, though. Or just a message letting us know that feedback on the matter has been passed on to the development team.
Okay, they are gone now. No more emergency mission or monster hunter title. feelsbad
Would have been nice to say it before 3 days of closing diadem next time.
