To bump this thread with information...
Our group got the speed run for Aurum Saturday and have since been trying our hardest to find the mystery "5th chest" (far right chest at the end of the Morbol fight). We were initially hoping to figure it out to be world first on the the 5 chest achievement but we've seriously just given up after 4 days of straight testing only the 5th chest. Here is a list of things we've tried for solely the 5th chest.
* Killing everything in the instance including the despawned ghosts before they despawn
* Kill ONLY mobs required to complete the instance and nothing else (porter mobs only + bosses)
* Eat all fruit, including the fruit that drops from the Lilies of the Vale and the Poisoned Peasants
* Eat only Blue Fruit and eat all blue fruit
* Eat only Red Fruit and eat all red fruit
* Not eating fruit period (achievement)
* Doing the run without aggroing any ghosts the entire run (forcing depop before they aggro)
* Time killing ghosts with their depop mob set (e.g. kill ghost then kill Eftstool immediately)
* Time killing ghosts together (poison room 2 and the final 3 porter room after coin)
* Timing so that all porters are hit at the same time for the 2 rooms with multiple portals
* Getting all 5 chests during the run
* Getting all 5 chests during the run AND getting 4 chests at the end with speed run
* Checking the initial deactivated portal multiple times during the run to see if it activates
* Going through the whole run without touching a bile pond (proc'ing status)
You guys can verify this all yourself if you'd like but we feel pretty confident that all these were tested correctly. We've run out of good ideas (most of these are already bad ideas) so we're leaving it to the open forum to see if we can collaborate.
Any and all good or bad ideas welcome at this point. We're just so frustrated at this point that we're hoping someone else has some good ideas.

No deaths?
Done it without dying multiple times. We'll field any questions because we might have tried something incidentally. Collectively we have about 13 runs on video so we can go back and look if you have something very specific.
You didn't bring the parrot.

Do you know exactly what spawns chests #2 and #3? I just had guesses before but didn't know for certain. We only ran it one day, CC the next, and finished more job BC's today so haven't had a chance to go back to check if my guesses were correct. A 5 chest run is possible according to achievements so knowing exactly those requirements is good because they wouldn't overlap with whatever the final chest is.
For the "min kill required" did you happen to kill any slugs? Or in the Mistress fight, flowers as well? (I wonder if 6 MNK, 1 WAR, 1 WHM could conceivably kill it before it runs to the first regen spot). So on Boss fights kill only the bosses and nothing else, however I admit it doesn't seem like that would be it.
And remember DH had lamps that were just "there" that didn't do anything like the entry one in AV
DH Chests were... been a while:
1: Batraal
2: All Portal's hit?
3: Orobon
4: All chests?
5: <25m
Its quite ponderous indeed. SE really has a knack for creating obscure ways of doing this (ohi AV strat video).
Batraal Chest were (from left to right):
#1. Orobon
#2. Unsure about this, probably portal, but never seen this chest not there yet.
#3. gold chest is always there, so i assume ogre kill.
#4. <25m
#5. All 5 chest opened.
Correct it was
1) Killing the Orobon in Chocobo Stables
2) Opening all Blue Portals
3) [GOLD] Batraal Kill
4) Speed Run
5) Opening all chests
In Toto-Rak it was
1) Killing something. I don't know if the specific mob(s) was ever determined
2) Opening all Magitec devices
3) [GOLD] Shuala/Antates/Sargas Kill
4) Speed Run
5) Opening all chests
Since the chest in question is the 5th one, I am assuming it has something to do with chests. Perhaps like the Drakes room in Darkhold, another chest appears in an area after certain mobs are killed and can only be accessed at a particular point?
As for the other dungeon, one chest pop if you kill the lonely Pampa in the upper room.
Thanks for the information, Kaeko. I think Peng has recorded a few runs so we'll go over the tape and see if we can figure this out.
We've killed all the Giltraps/slugs and have also left them up and just focused on her. Neither seems to do the trick to spawn the 5th chest. Killing no adds would be extremely difficult in her fight as all the slugs will just snowball and are eventually completely CC resistant due to diminishing returns.
Try kill the boss before the poison fog in the room goes away?
If anyone wants to help test, right now we're thinking the best ideas left are:
(1) Going 1 of every job (no switch start to finish, 8th gets to be whatever)
(2) Something involving Incaps on either or both bosses
We usually kill the boss before it moves to the 2nd regen pool but it would require a sub 2 min kill to come close to a no regen boss fight. We usually kill 1 set of tender victuals as well. I really doubt this has to do with boss adds though.
I feel like incaps is the most likely one (what can you even incap on a morbol?)
Also like others said, perhaps there is a hidden chest with weird pop conditions
Why avoid the obvious? Get all chests => 5th chest. You are missing a chest during the run, as stated like Drake chest that is a strange pop condition. I would be very surprised if they changed the dungeon design just to mess with ppl.
Is possible to burn Mistress down before she regens in the first pool. :)

Maybe try to eat only thoses fruits.Quote:

Whichever DD players you have that can push ~100+ DPS. Honestly, with balance the way it is, MNK seems to have a slight edge on Morbol due to elemental weakness (which actually I've only eyeballed, so it might not even be that), but other DD jobs should be able to get really close. We're still doing a lot of testing, so we haven't actually verified the theory of burning her down before she moves at all.
Our biggest problem with that is the DD taking hate.
Do you guys know of a guaranteed way to avoid eye of the beholder from coincounter?
don't stay to far.
Stay far away from his 100T, but not to far, there's a safe circle range area.
How do you get Mistress out of the puddles? Sometimes she won't leave til full HP even when our tank vokes
Gotcha! thanks Richard
Eye of beholder is the long range eyeball laser thing. If we stand at max range it will sometimes rape our mages. It's wierd because we can be standing right next to each other and one person dies, others live.
The swings/swipes reach to just about 10 yards, and the lazrz hit from outside of 15 yards. So you have to sit in the middle of those ranges and you're safe.
You can essentially be sure that you're safe if you're always JUST outside of the swing range (the wind-looking animation). BUT, this means that whenever your tank moves Cyclops you have to move with him, so be wary of where you're standing at all times.
If you're on a melee then you just have to run out whenever he charges up 10/100-ton swing to avoid any dmg. It's easy to see him powering up and if not you can adjust your log to show it ;3
Also, like I said above, when he does his swing; you know that big circular wind animation that surrounds him? THAT is just about 10 yards from his hitbox. If you stand juuuust an inch outside of that you're good.
what do u guys do about the slugs?
Since Cutters cry 5th chest is all chest (with bonus one from Ant) perhaps Coincutter has a special condition that unlocks a 2nd chest.
Or one is in a funky spot that no one has found D:
Grats to you all! Now you can rest up in your room and do nothing ^^
