The best models were from the 80's, and they were tall!
Somehow some of the most beautiful women in the world aren't feminine! It's actually crazy how many people here took up the defense of this! Rightfully so!
Many models are somewhat anorexic which has nothing to do with being tall. Super skinny isn't sexy in my opinion and sorry but relatively tall women are more beautiful then short. I have nothing against short women but they are not the epitome of beauty by a long shot for me at least. All my avatars are tall including my Au ra's although at the moment until I can get a comparison of female Viera to other avatar heights I am very tentative with the height slider. I don't want my Viera to be as tall as Fran.
Quit complaining. please. I cant be the only one thats sick and tired of seeing someone nitpick and whine and whinge and mope and cry about every single thing that's coming up If you dont like it just dont play it. But geeze at least have the realisation that youre not going to get everything you want ,nobody ever will youre not alone in that whole not always getting what you want thing.
It's standard fare for this forum. There is an all about me mind set that is so apparent with many of the threads and posts here complaining about this or that. Given the time and effort put into these races and the fact that they aren't even completely ready for prime time we'll get those who expect and ask the devs to add more to their workload to meet this or that demand.
I'm ecstatic we are getting new genders/races. One of my biggest disappointments for Stormblood was the fact we didn't get any.
No! Make them taller. I want to stomp all over the city like Godzilla in my fabulous new heels. ♥
It's kind of astonishing to me how many people think Viera need to be shorter and equating shortness with femininity. They're clearly supposed to be based more off of a "model" type figure, and presented as more mature and elegant than the shorter races. Tall isn't ugly, nor is it inherently masculine. Going in, I thought the range would be shorter, but I'm HAPPY they're on the taller side. I was going to make my bunny 5'10" - 5'11" anyways, and that's even on the shorter side for what we got.
Coming from a short woman, I wish we could quit with the whole "short girls are more feminine" or whatever. It's weird.
I've seen this movie.

Not sure what the hell this issue is now (anyone here starting to see political responses become frequent in threads that regard the base identity thing).
The OP simply asked for being able to make the races shorter. And some other opinions (most notably Craft0s), said they viewed shorter women as more feminine. Look here folks, thats an opinion. Anyone stomping their feet acting like this is some sexist thing that needs to be addressed or quashed is being silly. They had an opinion what they view as feminine. You can disagree with that opinion. That's fine. Trying to 'correct' their opinion with your opinion and then getting into socio-political garbage is not necessary. Like for reals, what do you hope to do by fighting this battle? Stamp out someone's opinion you dont agree with and make yours the 'morally correct' one? Gee, Ive never seen that turn into a crap show. And what is it to anyone if some people would like their Viera shorter? Is that affecting you any? No. If they lengthen the slider to allow an even broader range, who cares.
Christ, I know Im a kettle, but I swear it feels like these threads that start to get overtly political and mudslinging and aspersions start becoming the norm is becoming more frequent. Look, if you dont like someone's subjective opinion on beauty standards, just be cool about it and be like "Yeah, well I prefer this instead." And let it be that. This nonsense is getting overtly stupid pretty quickly in threads like this. Wish people would take a step back here and let it be, but I dunno. Got 'fight them battles' no matter what, it seems, even if the victories are hollow and pyrrhic in the end.
Half-Viera were supposedly shorter. You first saw those in the tactics advance games I believe.
I honestly prefer to have my characters short like me. But..the viera are tall. I'm still going to change my Au Ra to a Viera. Why? Because they're beautiful and elegant and I have always been fond of the race. Also..what is wrong with tall women?
Seriously??? If anything they should go taller. I was going to go max height and tower over everyone but they're shorter than highlanders, elezens, and femroes.
I wonder if there are people who don't think Bayonetta or Jeanne are feminine due to their height.

It was fine up until they explicitly stated that this said opinion was objective. Also, I don't think anyone said that this particular user couldn't have an opinion. The majority of the people who stand contrary to their views gave reasons as to why this opinion is not only shitty, but wrong in the context of it being anything other than subjective.
So when you come back in 4 hours I want to talk about how its ok for your character to be butch but not tall.
I'd like to see more short races, myself. I play a six-foot-tall female Highlander, and I'm a little annoyed that with the addition of Viera and Hrothgar she will now be below median height for player race/sex options. That's right; a six-foot-tall woman will now technically be on the short side in this game.
So, yeah; I say open up that option. Let players make smaller Viera and Hrothgar if they want to.
It's still an opinion, and opinions cant be 'right or wrong'. Theyre personal viewpoints, and the most that can be argued is you personally do not agree with it. Yes, trouble can happen when you start holding opinion as fact and that can be addressed, but as far as Im seeing, both sides are acting stupid.
Look at it this way, there are two ways you can handle other people's opinions:
1) "I like apples. Theyre the best fruit." - "No, apples are stupid and arent the best fruit. They taste terrible, and science says apples are full of sugar and are terrible! That and people who like apples, they also like kicking puppies. If you really like fruits, its all about those big beautiful oranges. Better color and far better taste. If you cant see that, you just hate oranges, you apple scum."
or
2) "I like apples. Theyre the best fruit." - "Im personally more of a fan of Oranges. I think the citrus taste of oranges goes well with stuff in the morning and wakes me up better. Also jus tlike the color. Brightens my day."
Hyperbole aside, between the two which is better? Tearing down someone elses opinion and trying to use your opinion to correct theres, or just giving your personal perspective on why you might like something without invalidating the other. If they resort to trying to invalidate, thats on them, not you. You know a lot of this forum garbage about politics, and bad opinions, and friction can be corrected if people actually took a second to talk positively about what they feel personally instead of trying to invalidate the feelings of someone else and tear them down.
Even if Craft0s said it was fact, you still have the opportunity of saying "I personally dont agree. I think them being tall is nice cause of how elegant they are and (insert other subjective opinions here that you personally like)." You dont have to resort to tearing down the other person. Be the better person if need be. This isnt rocket science people. It just takes everyone to take a cool minute over a hot second.
Personally, I think they look goofy as hell cause their head sizes seem so tiny on their bodies. I like tall women, short women, stocky women, lean women, all kinds of women generally. As long as it all seems nicely proportionate to the overall asthetics.
So when you come back yet again lets discuss your characters more masculine traits and why they dont matter because shes tiny
Only thing I can think of as to why they don't increase the height threshold is because of sitting poses on mounts (Imagine a Roe with a midlander size sitting on a whisper a-go-go mount). So they're probably sitting those height limits as to which both min and max values don't look weird.
While I always do support more character creation options, and I won't be upset at all if OP's wish comes true, in fact I would welcome it...but we kind of have something like short viera already?
Female miqos already fill the gap of "short and slender mostly human looking race with animal ears, button upturned noses, large eyes, heart shaped jaws, and the option to have very bushy eyebrows." Female au ra also have some of those features.
Viera and female miqos have very similar facial features, skin tones and posture. I think this is partially why SE decided to give us hrothgar. To give the playerbase something it actually doesn't have already. I know both they and miqos are cats, but hrothgar are far more beast than man. Aside from their bulky build, they share very little with the other races when it comes to physical appearance. Viera and miqos look like they could share a common ancestor.
Basically I don't think SE are going to give us something we already have. If we get a significant update to the new races, it most likely would be the missing genders.
But if we get shorter versions of the new races I won't complain. I'm just expecting to not ever see it happen.
I'm seriously hoping for Male Viera to be short like the female Au Ra because we don't have that option yet.
Character models don't change proportions with height like real people do - the entire model scales up and down. So there's a limit on how much they can be resized before it starts looking odd.
Lolwut? I'm a conservative, and I'm sure you've seen me complaining non-stop about my tall female character no longer being tall. It's right here in this very thread!
I don't think partisan political views have anything to do with it.
Don't give them attention. You can't reason with these people. If you argue with them, they'll bring u down to their lvl and beat you with experience.
But all in all, I agree that we should have more height customization and more customization options in general. I'd love a customization option to adjust the waist and another option to change the horns and hips for male au ra.
You just reminded me of the height slider on Phantasy Star Online. That is the only character creator I've seen that actually changes the body proportions as you configure your character's height.

Please let these races be what they are.
People should be able to chose a tall race whitout being forced to play elezen.
I'm not even playing tall races. But I find it a bit unfair for people that like those. Also, this races been asked knowing they would be like that why complain now?
As someone who is settled comfortably in the viera height range. Anyone who tells me I'm unfeminine can kiss my bejeweled stilettos
