Viera males should be smaller like Au Ra females

...looking at this thread I cant help but think that at least one reason they hesitated about adding male Viera is that they were aware of how many different images, ideas and expectations people are having for them - as far as I can tell we heard everything from "I want them to be lala-sized but less fat" to "I want beefy, muscular elezen with bunny ears".
No surprise no one wants to come up with a definitive look for male Viera - they can only disappoint, no matter what they do, they'll get backlash. Partly because of their own making of course, giving people so much time to come up with their perfect bunny-boy-image that they'll never met now, but I'm calling it right now: if we ever get male Viera, most of you wont get what they want. And I dont envy the poor person (most likely Yoshi...) who has to tell the crowd that they eventually decided to make the male Viera look like the dwarf rabbit minion that you can play as now (you can pick from 25 different fur colours, adjust the ear length and choose one of 4 fur-patterns - no gear will be visible, cutting down costs), since they wont be able to come up with a design that pleases the playerbase anyways...

Is Alphinaud really that much shorter than a min. height Midlander/Miqote male though? I don't get why people are freaking out over people wanting to play as a character that size. He's literally 16 (maybe 17 now?) in the story. People can already easily make female characters that look 16, especially miqote and au ra females.

EDIT: And furthermore... we literally have a race of people designed to look like grade school children. It says so in the ARR artbook that that's what they were modelled after. So somehow we're able to get away with that... but young looking male characters would be going too far somehow? I really don't get it.

Hard pass on small male Viera from me.
While I do agree that the options for shorter male characters are lacking, I'm not keen on the Viera being used to fill that void.
I dislike the sexual dimorphism of the Au Ra and I'd dislike it here.

Sadly not everyone wants to have the Viera looking like that - I get it; but the other part of a race that has been sought after for over a decade - to have it looking like a child, huge let down. I'd be fine with feol looking like this but I do not wish the entire 'male' population to look like children. It would honestly ruin it for me. Besides, I honestly find the idea of playing as a child or looking like one to be disturbing in regards to a MMO.

I don't want to see it in a bathing suit, I don't wish to see people erping in any guide on frisky manner on that bodytype. Sure, it happens with the females - and it's still creepy. And the massive dimorphism with the aura is bad.

Yea, I agree with this. Just going off how they were described, I have trouble imagining male Viera being small and cute. The only thing I could see happening is one of the subraces being a bit smaller and softer looking than the other.

Yea, I agree completely with you. I don't want male Viera to look like that either (at least not all of them). I just don't like the double standard of it being okay with females (judging by how popular fem au ra is) but suddenly perverse and strange when people dare ask for something similar for male characters. Just looks like hypocrisy to me. If we're going to try and apply morality to it like that we should be doing it universally. We can't just assume that everyone who wants an option like that to be perverse or something.

I'm okay with them being a little shorter than female viera, but I don't approve of au ra level of height difference. That said, I'm an owner of two bunnies irl, male and female and the size difference isn't that absurd (not that it matters, just felt like pointing it out).

I've never liked the sexual dimorphism that we have with the Au Ra, and I'd strongly prefer to not have it with the bunnies as well. I don't think the small males would fit with the female version we are getting. Also, I just want some eye candy, and I love me the slender/strong type ;)

Honestly coming back to this and doing the latest main scenario - there's already a body type around that they're most likely going to use. It's obviously the Elezen model - Nero and Maxima are using it - and without the stupidly long neck, it actually looks good. Slap on a muscle scale and a decent height scale and wham.

Per Wandering Dramaturge text, there is no sexual dimorphism in Viera. Men and women can't be differentiated at all until adulthood.

You guys put way to much energy in this. Beside we do get multiple preset of faces, im sure people will make Viera either young/old/masculine/feminine like any other male race.
The only thing left is the body type and I actually just want to Yasumi Matsuno's version of male Viera.
Beside I do wonder if it wouldnt be weird if male Viera looked like teens that would be ready to mate with a female Viera for... well descendents. (Though I wouldnt want them to be buff either...) qq the artwork looked fine to me.

personally i will have found nice and fun to have muscular viera man, after all they live in the jungle alone or small group of 2... i imagine them like some killer bunny man covered in scar that fight to death all the time with beast we don't want to get close.... because people that did play FF12 remember what type of monster live in golmorre jungle? Coeurl, morbol and such. not a easy place to live into...

I honestly don't see Male Viera being small and cute like people want them to be.

Its said that they're very aggressive,savage and protectors of the forest. I doubt they're going to be tiny petite boys, that would be comical.

Just think heading into the forest after hearing about how savage and strong the male viera are and you see one and its just a cute,small male viera that looks like they can't even lift a 12 pack can of soda.

some people here want a race with childlike features, not a male race that is young, slender and smaler or androgynous
i have no problems if they add a smaller, slender, androgynous male race BUT alphinaud looks like a 16 years old or younger - this makes it wrong for me. (also we know from the lore that childhood can last longer for elezen (because elezen can potentially live longer than other races, even though he might be 16 by number, he might be more youthful than the average 16 years old)

that means alphinaud himself will grow out of his height, which doesn't mean he's a short person but still a teeny. which means, he will loose the childlike features(rounder face, soft nose), while you could confound a female au ra to be 16 or 25 or older

i think even SE has said themselves, they would feel very uneasy giving other races alphinauds body features (im talking about the childlike features), and no lalas don't fall in the same pot, since they are disformed potato dwarves, if people find them arousing.. well.. (weren't people even banned for spreading nsfw pictures of lalas or something similiar, which makes them still a greyzone?)

I'd like to hope when people are asking for a body type like Alphinaud they're just speaking of his height and slight build. I can understand a request like that, just like how some people surely requested a body type like fem Au Ra. I mean, smaller guys do exist. Don't teenage people play this game too? What if they wanted to make a character similar in build to themselves? I don't think we should be assuming people are perverse just for requesting it. :v No more perverse than people playing fem Au Ra are at least (though that might be a can of worms in and of itself...).

Just from the standpoint of viera though, I don't think having a build like that would make sense with everything else we know. Think a mix between highlander and elezen would be the likely result. Maybe being just a tad shorter than a max height female viera to go with the idea of female rabbits being bigger.

People are asking for these because they want "hairless twink" males. It's not about small and cute. They want slim and young looking. My preference is no male Viera, to keep with the present intention.

I mean it's not even that he looks like a child, he's, 16 years old which isn't the legal standard in a lot of countries. I think the main issue is(And this isn't addressing you Atreyu)

IF YOU WANT MALE VIERA TO BE SHORT MALES STOP USING ALPHINAUD'S BODY TYPE AS A POINT OF REFERENCE, HE IS 16 YEARS OLD. USE ANOTHER CHARACTER IN MEDIA WHO IS OF AGE AS A REFERENCE POINT.

You're just bound to cause discomfort if you press for that sort of body type comparison, it'll probably make the devs(and forum posters) weary of what your intentions are when you specifically shout out a 16 year old characters body type as being what you would prefer.

Regardless of if male viera are taller or shorter, I feel they need to come across as more...feral.

They are supposed to be incredibly isolated and territorial, spending the vast majority of their lives in solitude except for the rare occasions they go to the villages to mate.

What I'm getting at is they shouldn't really look pretty. They should look like at some point they decided that instead of living by themselves in the Wood they would travel, and thus they do, but they still look like someone who spent most of their lives alone in the woods.

Valid statement, but I've had friends who were way shorter than me (I'm 6'4) that I could have sworn were like 18 at MOST and they turned out to be 3 or 5 years older than me. Again I'm not saying it's right, i think in general that's slightly 'alright dude haha xd' worthy when you see a shuisui female au ra, but people like that do exist. It's just when those people are literally like, 15 that it becomes offputting like people who wanted to be child miqo's. You're actively choosing the child variant because they are children.
