No you are absolutely right Black Reaper.
You know because all the hundreds of thousands of players who have quit the game are clearly figured into the cap when the active population is only in the tens of thousands. Because that is obviously how they would do it.
You know even though they explicitly stated that inactive accounts were calculated when planning the merge (to whatever degree) but are not figured into the cap of active players allowed per server.
LOL Do you belive everything your told? SE also stated the game would be ready in Sept of 2010 to right? I think they do in fact affect the gap. I also feel inactive players shouldnt be considered in the process at all since they are not paying for the service. If and when their account becomes active again then their 2 cents would matter.
If that is indeed the case, then how is this effecting people to be able to go to the world of there choice then? I'm trying to have a better understand. If the Inactive players are just sleeping there and don't play a vital role in the server cap itself, then if the Server cap is still 5k a Server.. how come there's trouble getting into worlds?
That's a much better position!
Ship inactive players off their servers anyways, because SE is probably lying to us and secretly counting them in the cap!
Thank god sleuths like you are here to uncover the real truth.
Look I can play your meme game too:

kk you keep going on about active players when where mainly talking about inactive character on active accounts that take a spot on a server that should be reserved for another active character IMO inactive character should not alot to to be moved yet since in no way are they being used or payed for all they do as of right now is take up a spot on a server that could be used for an active player maybe a week later once ppl have moved there mains to there desired server and things have balanced out then allow the inactive character to move and another idea is inactive character should not be allowed to transfer till they become active again the fact that we get to tranfer for free is nice but there should be a limit to what you can move .
You assume that actives players cap is 5k? actually, there are no enough actives players on FFXIV to fill 9 whole servers with 5k actives players each...the cap is probably between 1200 and 2000 actives players.
It's a merge, not a migration service, at most they should have planned to give an 1 or 2 % free slots for permitting some players to move on ...
The servers are not show in live,so you sometime can enter on a world which is marked full , try sometime ^^
Coincidence. But that's beside the point you are just a liar, because you couldn't have moved your wife's "completely inactive account" since inactive accounts cannot transfer servers.
So you are just making things up now to try and justify screwing over non-active people since SE stated that the cap is only taking into account usable characters (those on active accounts).
Don't you think it is a little harsh to call him a liar? I mean, they said it shouldn't be possible, but that doesn't mean it isn't. Do you have an inactive account to log into the lodestone with and see if it works for you? I wish I did so that I could try it myself. Give him the benefit of the doubt. Why would he lie about that?
Meh, It doesn't really matter to me.. its just a Name of a server anyways :P.. I'm not picky about a Particular name to be on.. and besides I have alot of friends on my current server that I don't want to leave for some silly Server name :P.
In anyrate, I have a better understanding of the situation now. Thanks

What he is saying is true. GO read some of the other threads. Others have figured this out also. Calling people names, calling someone a liar. Just not cool. Do everyone a favor and disappear.
You are one to throw stones when your idea of "cool" are posts like this gem:
No I haven't seen anyone else say that they were able to move characters on an inactive account. I have many friends with inactive accounts, and as far as I know none of them have been able to.
So maybe his wife's account isn't really inactive, or maybe he is just making the whole thing up to push his anti-inactive players agenda.
It would be a horrible business practice to deprive your customers (and these people whether active or not remain customers) of their reasonable assumption that should they reactivate their account in the future they would be allowed to continue to play with their friends who remained.
Sunday...Monday... Happy Days... Tuesday.... Wednesday... Happy Days... Thursday!!!.... Friday..... Happy Days..... Saturday... What a day... Groovin' All week with you!!! :D
No agenda here Mur , I just would like to see paying players get to have their choice since they are paying for the service. They are no longer customers when they deactivate there account and cancel their service.Oh you Prolly wont see anyone else comment on inactive movement due to the server showing full. If I find another I will be sure to post if for you.. regardless I got two of my friends on the same server so at the end of the day I'm happy but I stand by paying customers should be considered over inactive. Keep Hating someone has to do it.

actives peoples get the priority and the limits are set for actives players but it's too the result of the choice a large part of paying customers choose...
Again no one is taking away their character or "Data"just moved till they activate their account was my suggestion . It's really nice for SE to keep it But their purchase just like everyones purchase was fufilled with a year of free to play, keeping their characters and not paying for the release of 2.0 and the exclussive content that 2.0ers wont get to particpate in. MMOS also work off subscriptions.. it's how they keep the the MMO running. :)
Coombah, i think you're too focused on inactives peoples...
Since limits are set for a certain number of actives peoples per server because it's a merge and not a migration service, SE can't give too much open slots for moving or servers will be desequilibrated...
Just a quick question... I have been refreshing the page all day long. Went to work for a few hours and started refreshing again... Is everyone else getting all x's except open on Rag (thats what I've been getting all day)? I was able to move my character off Saronia to Rag for now but would like to move her to Durandal where my other character is and make her active again. (I moved her to open space for people who want to move to the new Saronia server since I saw how much trouble its been.
Yes, that is exactly what the current status is. According to Bay, there will be assessment of server space and they will manually update this page, but you won't see it unless you are online during the Japanese work day. That was nice of you to take a chance and move on to Ragnarok to make room for others. I hope it works out for you and you get on the server of your choice.
considering yoshi stated inactives are not taking up space as far as the server being full or not and it is based off the active players then it doesn't matter if the inactives are on the server or not. if the server has their cap number of active players then whether those numbers also hold the inactives do not matter at all. these are just stupid numbers thrown out because nobody knows the true number caps.
cap 2000 active players = (now) 2000 actives + 10k inactives
cap 2000 active players = (without any inactives) 2000 actives
both ways have the same number of active players whether the inactives are counted or not.
Just did it again got another friend on our server..That's 3!
servers opened up again
Could be going out on a limb saying this, but it is possible that they can only accept a certain number of applications within a specific time frame. Being Lodestone only updates every 30-60mins, it might compensate for any extra applications until all of them have been resolved by the following lodestone update. The reason I'm thinking this is because whenever they took server transfer, test server, or restoration applications in FFXI they often only took so many applications at once before they reopened them again.
And I think the reason inactive characters on accounts are considered in the final number is due to the fact they take up memory in the server, not because they're can only be one active character on the account at a time. Since there a practical limit to how much each server reserves for characters (FFXI had a 10k limit originally) it would make sense they would compensate for any sudden additions/reactivation of characters.
For example say the server limit is 10000 characters (not accounts), and say there's currently 3000 active characters + 4000 non-active characters from players waiting for 2.0 or alts on accounts. Server merge happens and SE didn't account for inactives, so everyone moved too your sever with a staggering 8000 actives. October comes around and the 4000 inactives decide to reactivate their accounts for 2.0, but now the server has surpassed it's physical memory limit for characters so now... A. New players can't play on your server, B. Old players would be forced to move or give up all together, or C. Players can't activate alternate characters on accounts anymore.
Just to clarify I did read the post about how it said they were not taking inactive characters for the merge into consideration for the maximum limit, but I think that is due to the fact they already had predefined number goals in mind making sure there was plenty of room for new and returning players and to help evenly distribute the player-base among servers.
