Do people enjoy Eureka?

I really dislike it, but i feel i'm forced to do it now because the more i delay the slower my progress will be, and it will stop when next expansion launches. It sucks :(

I wish i could come back later and solo this on my own faster like what i'm doing now with ARR Relics.

It's possible to give us something new that isn't the equivalent of garbage. Eureka could have been significantly better than it currently is. No daily quests. No weekly (non challenge log) quests. No Disciple of the hand or land activities. Enemies in Pagos have about 350,000 hp which is ridiculous considering they didn't give us any boosts from the magia board in there.

I've been playing other games instead since even me who made like 8 anima weapons didn't bother finishing one pagos weapon, despite having made all anemos weapons (not like that part is difficult though).

If they would have put Relic grind into Diadem it would've been just as popular as Eureka, people don't do it because it's fun or appealing but because the relic is gated behind it which wasn't the cause in Diadem.
So saying it's more successful is a far stretch, it is the reward at the end of the stick that counts.

They did put one step of HW relic in Diadem, remember ? Initially you had to go Diadem to collect materials for the crafted items you need for one of the earlier steps.
Funny how that quickly got patched out to 'buy it from your friendly grand company' instead...... and I don't see much future for Eureka to be honest - it'll die faster than Diadem with fewer good memories attached to it.

The only good decision about HW relic was to just put one step of it in Diadem, rather than the whole thing - plus the HW relic largely kept step with the tomestone weapon, rather than catch up at end of tier at the edge of obsolescence.

I do enjoy the NM's mechanics that are more in line with dungeon/raid bosses as opposed to just being bigger, tougher versions of normal enemies as the vast majority of FATE bosses are.

Aside from that, there's not much I like about the place.

from the top of my head that nerf only happened quite a few patches later after the Umbrites step was already out, so that change was more amongst the lines of the 'usual' over time nerfs to the relic weapon steps.

We thought it sucked with Anemos and it’s NM train...then SE said “hold our beer” and gave us Pagos, which had us begging for the train to be restored.

I’m normally a glass half full type, but I have zero hope/expectations for Pyros and whatever follows.

Silver lining: Pagos inspired me to get off my virtual butt and push into savage instead of contending with the awful grind to get a weapon. Suzaku weapons are enough to clear all content in the game. Anything past them is icing on the cake.

I see a fair amount of people in Pagos with Ultima weapons, Omega weapons and the mount (and one person with all three at once). I often wonder if they'd be in there if it wasn't for the relic

Well my honest opinion about the whole Eureka thing is: It's bad, we're supposed to help eachother in there right? Yeah imagine you want to help someone 4 levels lower than you who is just starting with it, plot twist! You can't because the system doesen't like you helping people. So therefore we're not supposed to be social afterall! And now the huge timesink it is is just pretty boring imo, just mindlessly grinding mobs till you have no soul anymore just for a sparkly weapon that's gonna be nothing more than glamour in a few patches.
Don't wanna see this next expansion tbh.

Pagos is bad, and I legitimately believe that anyone who proclaims to "like" it is doing so out of spite towards the people complaining about how badly it's designed, and the only reason they say it's good is because they want other people to have to suffer through terrible content instead of just admitting that it sucks. It's a mish-mash of obnoxious and outdated MMO mechanics that don't work well together coupled with terrible map design and extremely odd level requirements for fast travel.

Anemos was not well-received at first but once it was more or less "solved" in a way that didn't line up with the developer's vision, it became significantly more tolerable and somewhat enjoyable to do.

People need to stop defending Pagos. It's unfun, not engaging, not difficult to do, extremely tedious and extremely boring. It's objectively bad content and the developers need to understand that so they don't repeat it again, and instead make something that is fun and engaging, and SE at least somewhat agrees that it missed the mark because they nerfed it THREE TIMES while it was the CURRENT RELIC STEP. That should give people a giant hint that even the developers understand that people don't like it because it's bad.

The core of Eureka is fairly enjoyable. Anemos was decent enough. Pagos was somehow a downgrade by not giving you a meaningful sense of progression while you level, locked mounts and teleports behind higher levels than Anemos did and the map design is just awful. Once you hit 35 its kind of fun again but the road to max level is horrible. Plus anemos the grind to the relic was naturally completed with the road to EL20, while in pagos that isn't the case.

At least some mechanics introduced in Pagos that might carry over next maps are pretty cool like Mutation, Adaptation and Eureka Effect. I wish those have been there since Anemos.

here is the unpopular opinion! I was hyped for Eureka when SE explained it in letters. But when they've released Anemos, I disliked so much. Easy and boring, but the worst of it was the Train. entered, grind about two days, got two relics and never go again. Then Pagos. Is nearly all what I wanted in Anemos. Enemies were hard enough to find parties. No trains. terrains was hard enough to learn how to travel... I needed to pick a party and start farming enemies. Even you get the possibility to fail and get a total party kill. I leveled to 35 at third day of Pagos. It was progresive. At some point I became aquainted with other players, regardless server. When I enter, I checked party list and whisper them, or I've recieved whispers of them.

I think Pagos had some flaws, but for me was far better than Anemos. What I want for Pyros: Lenght. I love to farm in party. Give me weeks of that! more progression, more danger, more elemental system or new things. chocobo companion? I think eureka in general is the best content I've played in FFXIV (off raid)

But, for people who do like it... well, good for them. There is content for them.

I'm more at issue with the way some aspects were implemented. Essentially not allowing friends and groups to easily band together because of the huge exp penalties or overall combat in-effectiveness seems a very opposite approach to the way SE generally tries to design everything else in the game.

The FATE train can be debated over and over, but it's just kind of a fact of life now. They could change it, but I think it should be left in there because if they fixed the real root of the problem (people can't really effectively get groups in any other form reliably), then the FATE train wouldn't be the de-facto best option.

This is a good way to look at it. Personally, I was so let down by Eureka Anemos that I ended up taking a break. 5 months away from the game which was probably the longest I've ever stayed unsubbed from this game. Even gave up my house which I worked hard to get. Came back about a month ago, stepped into Pagos maybe twice before putting it in my rear view mirror. I'm happier playing the game if I just pretend it doesn't exist and am currently enjoying the game as a whole...except Eureka. Screw that place.
