What were we really expecting from eureka?

The two main things I want are along the same vein.

1. You are entering an instance with other players, all those players should have a common goal and be able to work together for that goal. This has been getting progressively worse with each iteration of exploratory missions. They keep hammering home the fact that you are out for yourself. I mean look at the Pagos, if you want to light farm at 35 there are only like 6 or so viable areas, and with 144 player maximum that is not enough. You are in competition for a limited resource and you have no tools except breaking the rules to do anything about it. if your group starts after all areas are taken you are left with breaking the rules to try to force a group to quit or not playing. This is terrible game design.

2. Once again we entered a instance together, you should be able to play with all the players in there. The combination of a long grind leveling system and the harsh punishment of playing with players that are not at most 2 levels away from you is extremely limiting. We entered an instance together we should be allowed to play together. This is like a basic concept that I just don't understand how they missed when designing this piece of junk. Even out in the regular game this isn't an issue. You don't get punished in hunts for playing with low level players or even helping low level players with lower level hunts.

It's not exactly a secret YoshiP takes the jpn playerbase's words above the NA/EU so if they feel fine with it, at least I'd understand why he persists with content like this...(outside of developing it already).

They had a big discussion about Anemos which they disliked too (+100 Likes for posts that said that its dirt) and seeing what Tsumdere posted they also dont really like Pagos. So honestly I am not sure how Eureka can really count as a success if even the JP players are that divided about it.

it's hard for me to believe the JP players are that into it at all, I'm on Tonberry and every time I go in there I'm surprised to see 50+ in the instance. The PF is also dead, practically nothing, the odd one here and there. If you open one, you'll not find 8 people in an hour either (though I suspect I'd have a better chance with that if I spoke JP). Even when I want to bore my pants off killing the same thing over and over, it's still impossible to do without a party. Last time I was there, was with a party (could only scrape together 6), there was less than 50 in the instance the entire time, and a whole TWO fates to break the monotony over 2 hours. The next patch needs to contain the nerf of all nerfs to fix that, or pyros is going to tank badly.

Fanfest is in 4 weeks and Pyros should be out by then, and I think the NA Fanfest Live letter and Q&A in the past has typically been about the most recent patch, since they only really talk about the new expansion in the keynote.

So, hopefully they'll be talking about Pyros in front of a live audience that can let them know how much they like Eureka directly.

I was expecting nothing from Eureka.
But the sad part is that there's the relic in it. And I loved doing relic step by step, slowly... alone
So it's like trapping you.
"Please force yourself enjoying and doing that content if you want the relic weapon".

The shareholders wouldn't care for this, so therefore I approve. Let your feelings be known, people! Pagos all but killed Eureka for some...and it's becoming more evident by the day that more and more people are fed up with it. Pyros isn't looking too promising unless they take the "forget Pagos, just go to Pyros guys!" stance and allow people to grind there.

Going to use some fake numbers here to make my point so please bear with me on this. My concern is that Eureka has probably had a large drop off in Pagos, how much I am not sure but I am going to bet its quiet a bit. For illustration purposes, here are my guesstimates (Worldwide):
Zone completion: Anemos 100,000 --> Pagos: 10,000 --> Pyros (if its awesome) --> 8,000 --> Final Eureka: 5,000 <-- These are made up numbers to illustrate my point

If we see drop offs in percentages such as this, then we would eventually end up with more people completing Savage and quite possibly Ultimate than who would finish Eureka. Such a fall off would be devastating for SE as Eureka is supposed to be the casual full time worker friendly zone to have fun and play the game. So far, Anemos fulfilled that part but Pagos absolutely nuked it from orbit with the Zeus Cannon (Yes I just Invoked Final Fantasy Spirits Within). Even if Pyros is the devs gift to the players and is perfect in every way, hardly anybody will be able to play it and their final zone will be unplayable due to the lack of people who could populate an instance.

They are getting dangerously close to the next release and the current gains that players can make in there are insufficient with the time remaining. More needs to be done but I am starting to get worried that nothing will be done at this point. Any nerfs with Pyros may be too little, too late due to people getting frustrated by Pagos blocking them.

My initial expectations were that it would be lousy and then it was. My current expectation is that it's realistically too late in the dev cycle to fix the content but they could do a half-assed job salvaging the relic chain by recycling previous steps and getting it out of this abysmal content. Or leave it in for the people that like it, just give us an alternative. Literally any relic step that isn't light grinding is preferable.

Yes, even that one. ESPECIALLY that one.

I kinda want to see Dual Affiliation monsters with the addition of this 6th magicite.

Didnt had many expectations, i stqrted late Anemos and catch up enough to make 3 relics, Pagos was way to grindy but Pyros was perfect in my opinion (i made 60m gil) selling stuff on MB, waiting for last step and i hope will be like Pyros.
