This option is quite agreeable, please keep it.

Just wandering, what's gonna happen if EU players don't wanna go the tenth server?
-.-'
I mean, what if just a minority of EU goes to that server and it ends up with even lower population than what we have now... are they gonna shut down the server or what?
Not that it concerns me since I'm EU but I don't plan on changing server, I was just curious..
Well I hope it remains an option for the EU players to go to a dedicated server and they don't get forced there.
Several of us have good friends from the EU region and I know for a fact some of them maybe MOST of them, wouldn't want to be forced onto a server just because one guy at a company thinks its a good idea. Sometimes it isn't. FFXI for example has never had region specific servers and even now it still works.
They are trying to force us to work with the community on this game, and doing what they were planning was a big mistake so I am glad they are looking into it.
However I don't think any EU players should be forced to the EU servers with the merge it should be am option for them. Because if they get forced there and aren't currently playing, but planning on coming back before 2.0 should they really have to wait? No, they shouldn't. Chances are they'll stop playing completely since they can't play with their friends they have possibly had for years (very true for those of us that all came from FFXI in a group).
I know they never said they would be forced there but lets face it, I didn't see a post where they said they would have the option to go there either. I'm just saying forcing people onto one region server type is a bad idea as a whole.
yeah but you guys cant remember that they did not rule in the future, to place some servers by location. And if they want a decent PvP system (yoshi-P love pvp) is not so rare to have it. If they want to locate server 10 in EU in a future, you will play with 200-300 ping from japan or 30-80 EU?
Excalibur, Orichalcum, Masamune, Ultima Weapon, Save the Queen, Lionheart, Ragnarok, Muramasa, Gungnir, Chicken Blade. Calling it out now.
Lol my ping from Europe is a lot lower than 200-300.
What about an RP server?
Silly thought- a world event that ties in 7th umbral era occurances, and the merging of multiple parallel realities into one?
Discuss!
I actually had a passing thought about this too. Would be pretty cool...could even have one of the three big newspapers write an article about it.
Better yet. All RP to the EU server. They be in bed for NA prime time anyway.
Awww I just wonder...
Which will be the server merged with Lindblum ?! *-*
100% WIN
Only part I'm a bit curious about is this:
While it may not affect me directly, what would happen if an entire Linkshell decides to move to a new server and the server cap is reached before all members are able to transfer? Will those who already transferred to the new world no longer be able to choose another server to preserve their Linkshell as a whole?Quote:
2.World Transfer Period B (Players in Worlds that have reached the limit cannot re-select a destination World)
I know there will be icons to indicate current populations, but it may take some members longer to transfer than others due to real life issues. Then again, I may not fully understand what constitutes the start of this transfer period (B) to begin with. Will it start at a predetermined time, or does it start once the server in question has reached its cap?
Character name overlap. So someone who played on a buddy key first month and never again get to force a name change on current customers? :o This shall be interesting.
Yes! Yes! ( Yes! )
EDIT: It's relevantly fresh and cool because it's a merger; This allows the new worlds to become one with their new identities!
whats the difference between 4 and 2?
In 4 people had to choose a destination server, if they did not they would be sent to a random server.
In option 2 all people on a server are by default moved to a specific destination world, but there will be two opportunities (before and after the merge) for them to transfer to a server of their choice.
Did I miss read, or are they going to introduce things and stuff into 14 from previous final fantasies?
Some will say "nothing", but they're quite wrong.
Option 2 is what Yoshi refers to as "basic consolidation" with the added bonus of free electable transfers. At the end of the day, it takes two full communities and smashes them together-- save the for the stragglers who opt to transfer elsewhere. No matter where they go, however, they will be joining a world that has two or more communities coexisting.
Option 4, when it was still an option, created new worlds from all of the current worlds collectively. It provided no structure to preserve communities. However, it had the added benefit of population control at the time of the merges. Also, the a new server's community would be established from the ground up as a "new" community unique to that server. This is as opposed to two pre-established communities coexisting, as we see in option 2.
A couple of small gems from Yoshi's post:

Also, as we look to expand FFXIV, some of our visions for the future, such as releasing content based in Worlds from previous FF titles
Dude!Quote:
Also, we would like to reserve the name Gold Saucer for the casino,
They listened to every little detail from a diverse amount of opinions and came up with the perfect merge plan - Epic win SE! I hope I end up on "Excalibur" =D
There's gonna be a CASINO!? =D!!Quote:

We're grateful to have such a great team on our side!Quote:
We are very grateful that we received lots of feedback from players all over the world.
If they're going to put content in from previous FF titles that's cool! Can we have costumes =D also what happens if a deactivated character who was created first reactivates after the merge and someone who created their character after has the same name...i assume the one who recently reactivated will be asked to change ?
but wouldnt the branches of each servers community who actually cared about being with eachother still choose to follow eachother to their server of choice regardless of either option? Do most linkshells in each server commune with eachother enough to know eachothers existence?
Im just wondering how established these "communities" are to where they need to be treated like holy porcelain dolls.
if you wanted to play with your friends and they wanted to play with you.... then wouldnt you guys follow eachother through either option? if your friends left you and you decided to go to that server.... doesnt that mean you guys arent that great of friends? idk, it just seems to me that the only people who need this type of guidence and structure are children.
