Housing

I just poked around Jenova and there are smalls less than normal price in all the original wards. There's one Shiro small that I'm sure is a transfer. About three wards in the Goblet were nearly empty last night, so I know those available aren't all transfers. We were a preferred server not that long ago, so we have a decent population.

I upgraded to a medium in Goblet last week, and while it's in a "weird" location it actually feels a lot more like a city or village than Lavender Beds or Mist did, to me. I am surrounded by buiidings on all sides.

Just wish my neighbor didn't have that creepy chocobo house across the street ._.

There are still well over 100 small and a a few mediums available in LB alone on my server. While I haven't been to the other housing areas I would guess a 200-300 smalls are available and 10-15 mediums across them. And nobody appears to be camping them based on the price drops.

Not on Coeurl. I'm literally one of 3 people in this ward. So empty. O: It's nice.

It's night time in Jenova and there are TONS of plots everywhere except Shirogane. And yeah, maybe some people didn't get the medium or large that they were looking for, but a small house works just fine as a cool hang-out spot. ESPECIALLY if you don't even have a FC and are just looking for someone for yourself or perhaps to share with a friend.

Anyone who doesn't have a house by now is either too picky or doesn't really want one.

I really think they did solve the housing situation. Like someone said earlier, the fact that people can't just trade them off to other players anymore for ridiculous prices went a long way to solving the issue.

That might be why the one small house in my ward was still empty when I left for work: It's right next to one of those weird Paissa houses

Most were sold 10 min after Balmung was back up still upset that I camped and still got squat

Balmung filled up fast today but lots of my friends were able to get plots! I'm excited to see what all the new homeowners come up with!

Ya, got home from work and also gone on Ragnarok aswell. most of the legacy servers/or high pop are gone within 10mins and then there are the relocation spots which is also gone. Disappointing, yes but I have come to realize that this is going to be a problem all the time, and there is nothing that SE can do to fix it. Same as glamour system. O'well grats to all who got there dream house happy decorating

Mateus, the alternative RP world, just looking at the ward my FC house is in, there were still a couple cottages left. Probably a scattering all around. Can't expect them to dedicate resources to solving issues on outlier worlds.

I just logged out of Ultros, and there were still plenty of smalls in the Beds, and in the Goblet. Didn't check the other two areas, but I imagine that Mist is fine also.

Can confirm that there are still some smalls in Ultros in the Mist.

Only a few smalls in goblet but now at least groups of 8-10 people are camping near em.

Plenty houses still available on Louisoix

When I logged off around 10 hours ago, there was over half my subdivision unclaimed in The Mist on Brynhildr.

There are houses still available in all districts in Sarg (except shirogane) . Less so than last night, but the houses are still there. If there are still houses by the end of the week I'm gonna say the solution for a medium pop server works.

No idea how things are currently, but I was able to buy a small house on a great plot last night around 8:30 on Gilgamesh. There were some smalls available in every district except for Shirogane.

That was weird because there was like 30 players on the same plot and still I was able to buy the plot.

I am happy I could finally buy a plot but I still think the system is awful for the game.

Odin: Seems like every area is sold except Goblet which has like, I don't know, 40ish small houses open.

No, most of the legacy / high pop servers still have houses, this is just 2 servers out of over 60 that are out of them because people insist on stacking there like sardines.

I came home from work yesterday looking forward to finally being able to purchase a house. I saw about two dozen plots available so I decided which one to go after. When I ran there I found I was unable to purchase the plot because it was not ready for sale. So I tried another, and another, and another half dozen. Every single one of them was unavailable for purchase.

What kind of horrible system is this? If plots are unavailable then they be marked as such on the ward selection screen. People were running around like headless chickens on Ragnarok last night trying to find a plot that was available for purchase, with no luck.

I come home from work tonight and find there is only about half a dozen plots available in total, and again they are not ready for purchase. I've given up.

The only way to fix housing in this game is to have a 1.23 style cataclysmic event totally destroy every ward available and start again with a system that works. They are never going to solve the problems with the current system unless they add 100 more wards.

The worst part about it all is I used to own a house, but because I had to stop playing for a short period I had it taken from me. I understand why they do that, but to me that is an indicator of bad design rather than a solution. You shouldn't have large purchases confiscated from you for taking a break.

So because of your short comings we should nuke and start over -.- lol funny, people think is an easy solution. They will eventually b e adding more plots and are making it so that RTM traders add flipping houses won't become an issue. It will take time. Just like you had to quit on your own, knowing their was a deadline, why should SE hold on to houses for non paying members? Got to pay to play. The real fix is as follows; be patient, join an FC in the meant time.

I actually like the solution they've put in to deter people from selling houses, they just need to fix the UI so that people don't have to run around like headless chickens checking every plot that looks empty to see if it's actually purchasable. It's up there with the market wards from 1.0 where you had to go in and check each retainer to see if it had the item you wanted. Just mark them as unavailable in the UI and problem solved on that front.

As for nuking - most people seem to agree that the small houses suck. Nuking the wards and starting again would allow SE to provide bigger houses for more people. They could also use a system that doesn't rely on having a set number of plots. Separate FC and personal housing while they're at it.

Everyone on the server should be able to have a house if they wish to - there is no valid argument against that so don't try.

Really just depends on server now. Still over 600 houses available here across 4 regions. Housing is best pursued on non-extremely populated servers.

Just a tip for next time you want to know if a house is available for purchase you should check the price. If the current price of the plot is the starting max price then it probably has a demo timer. If the price is devalued a good bit then it can probably be purchased. Every time someone relocates the price of the houses reset, this will give you a good gauge if you should be running around the wards to try and buy some.

A day and a half later... Still over 1/2 the plots unclaimed in my subdivision. So, there are still lots of housing opportunities left on some servers.

Its mainly the large pop servers which are hurting, bal and rag to name a few.

Thanks. That's good info, but it really shouldn't be like that.

I think there's only one plot left on Ragnarok now and there's about 10 people camping it.

I think there's something to be said about the distribution of housing ward resources too. Why should a small population server get allocated the same number of resources as a large population server? If there are finite resources then they should be distributed on a percentage basis of where the players actually are.

Pretty simple to give players a incentive to transfer over to low populated servers to balance out the population between all servers. If they started taking out wards and plots from lower populated servers those servers would NEVER get new players and the server would slowly die resulting in merging of servers or worse locking those highly populated servers even quicker.

That would be a very dirty move, I don't think that is the answer to the current problem with demand on High Populated servers to say hey jump shipif you want to use a feature that we provide. SE needs to address the demands that is required on the High Populated servers, why would I want to move if I have been on a server since I started ARR and have the same friends who play there and are friends irl too. Makes no sense. The bottom line is going to another server is not the option to correct the issue, the issue is demand greater than what SE's servers can handle.

We have to live with it now, as this proves yet again that SE cannot keep up, simple. If you play the game only for a house and nothing more then moving to a dead server should be fine for you. If you are on a server that you like and been there for years, your f**ked.

Or you could start a conversation with your friends about all moving together? A million years ago when I played WoW, I played on a super high population server. When they opened up free transfers my entire guild (FC equiv) transferred to a different server together. With cross world PF and friends list, it wouldn't be that bad as long as you stayed in your current data center. SE has made it pretty clear that they want the server population to be balanced throughout all the servers. If you don't want to move, then that's fine, but you should realize that means you have to deal with the housing system as it is, 'cause they're not gonna start doing dynamic wards or take away wards from low pop servers to give more to high pop servers.

Then, just like Blizzard did, they should open a free transfer limited-time window. Only adding a bonus exp on some servers (and you'll look at that only during character creation) won't solve any problem in high populated servers, Legacy ones in primis.

They had a free transfer window for "congested servers" to preferred or new servers. That's why Balmung's active population is about half of what it used to be. People transferred off. And I think it's still the highest population server, anywhere.

edit: Transfer was free. Max amount of gil that could be transferred was increased to 999,999,999. They gave you 10 gold chocobo feathers. Reimbursed people for housing and apartment costs PLUS an additional amount for furnishing that couldn't be recovered. But it did lock you on the new server for 90 days.

I've thought about transferring as I have no ties to Ragnarok due to being a returning player, but that is simply not the solution to the housing problem. If I was in a decent FC with lots of people I play with regularly I wouldn't dream of leaving the server for a house and you aren't going to have any luck convincing 50+ people or however large your FC is to go with you.

Transferring is only viable during free periods too because the gil caps make it next to impossible for a longtime player to transfer during normal times. That limits which servers you can pick as well. But I guess the same people who say you should transfer for a house are the same people who would say you should transfer and lose 90% of your gil because you're on a new world.

But then the preferred worlds limitation is set to send you to worlds with low population, thus easier to get a house. Where you can start with all your money and do your own thing...
