Wrong attitude to have, kid. A subscription means that what we should be expecting is the absolute, bare minimum. They aren't required to give us more than our money's worth, which is a functional game. (in before people start arguing about this.).

This was something they didn't have to do. They didn't need to do it and your subscription would have been the same if they hadn't.

It was a kind gesture and a little gift included in a hot-fix patch.

This poor sense of entitlement really needs to go.

I don't mean to insult the OP. I've submitted my fair share of negative feedback on these forums, but I believe this viewpoint to be a bit short-sighted. I respect that some people don't like the Goobbue mount for various reasons (I don't personally share that opinion, but I understand). No matter how you feel about it, it was announced in Letter from the Producer Live that an exclusive mount would be a gift to pre-2.0 subscribers.

So, yes, it did need to be prioritized, and within the first month of subs going into effect. Otherwise Yoshi-P would have made a false statement (what if someone subbed only just for the first month, but the mount made it into the game two or three months later - that person wouldn't get their mount and outrage would ensue all over these forums).

But what concerns me is how complaints about fun items that are given to us as a show of appreciation could have a negative impact on how the dev team treats us in the future. I worked for a company that used to put trays of free chocolate chip cookies in the break room once a month as a show of employee appreciation. Most enjoyed a couple cookies and left it at that. But there were always those who complained. Cookies were a futile gesture. They didn't like chocolate chip. So-and-so was greedy and took more than their share. You know what happened? They got tired of the drama and stopped setting out cookies.

I don't want Yoshi-P to stop giving us cookies. :(

You know what my main concern is?

They have hundreds of these perfectly trained Goobbues to haul our asses around without incident...

But they couldn't used one perfectly trained one in the introduction to Ul'dah? For the love of the Twelve, a man died and orphaned his young daughter!

Yes that bloody bard came too late! What excites me though is all of the the areas the bard listen that he had traveled to. I think i'm going to make a list of all the outlaying areas NPCs talk about! Gobbue could have used a cutscene though. Not enough cutscenes in the game. Also everyone who is threatening to quit due to gobbue mount...you are hilarious O_o. But not really, just kind of sad. *hug* Feel better? Didn't think so :( I'm sorry for your loss.

I wouldn't have minded a semi challenging quest either but what he heck. It's just a free mount that does the exact some thing as a chocobo we already worked for.

This game right now is purely for the easy to please--vanity-mongers; who don't care about the game. They just want to play dress up and talk internet lingo with other morons. The fact it's a Final Fantasy title pleases these people even more. They can discuss their love of ponies and their fursona. Then they will mention their love of Kingdom Hearts and its deep script that put Shakespeare to shame.

Oh but there are some who simply don't think you're giving proper criticism. Apparently the criticism cannot touch to close to home or it will be deemed counter-productive and trolling.

The Goobbue mount put smiles on my 3 and 5 year old's faces, made them giggle uncontrollably, and made them drag their mother from across the house yelling "Momma momma come look! The Kitty is riding a GOOBOO!". I then indulged them in making it run around Thanalan, much to their delight.

That right there made any resources they spent giving us this gift worth it.

SO the OP shouldn't be mad at the Devs but more upset with those who requested the things he is pissed about. Devs are trying to make the players happy. Unfortunately, imho, to many of "those" players who asked for imo ridiculous crap are also the ones who are gone for the most part because their free ride is up. Now, what we need is Yoshi to pull out a good old fashion players poll and ask us about previous threads and such asking "Hey, you guys at one point asked for this, is this still valid?" And take some time. Work on 2.0 and the other important items need for a successful game and community IN the game. Then after a nice Player Poll, some [dev] tag forum posts with more details about some of the poll question that might require more than a simple yes or no. THEN they can go back and review those items and come back to us maybe next live letter to let us know what's good and what's not.

Idk, does that make too much sense to ask those of us who ARE PAYING and PLAYING for our opinions now that the fodder is mostly gone? *shrug*

That's why we need a Gigantoad mount that moves forward by leaping forward. It is both a slap in the face to those who do not like novel mounts and to those who do not like jump.

In addition the following things should also be mounts:

Marmots
Ifrit
Roegadyns
Those reporters for the various city newspapers
Other PCs (specifically those who don't like mounts)

I can't get over the Tantrums here.

To those of who are saying "THEY COULD'VE DONE MORE WITH THEIR TIME."

Do you really think it takes that long to put the character on top of the goobbue who already has animations in a /sit pose that's already in the game. Do you HONESTLY think that it took them that much time? There's no new animations, it was just "put you up here," a carpet for its head, wristlets, NPC with gear that's going to be in 1.21 and some text. In before music, I HIGHLY doubt that people that make the music program the game as well. Petty arguments. Very, very petty arguments.
