A kid has no reason to be fighting anything. They should be running around doing kid things like.... Kid stuff!

easy way to play a young cat girl. Go for the tan nose miqo'te, use make up to lighten the face. Make the character as short as you can, and put the bust size at the lowest setting. Dress the, in outfits that have a youthful appearance.

You can be younger by making yourself shorter.

The people trying to come up with logical reasons why a kid can't fight amuse me because we have these little potatoes casting explosions and people that can jump super high in the air. When it comes to physical feats of strength and athleticism, this game's world does not play by our rules. Kids being able to fight makes just as much sense as a tiny little baby with stubby arms being able to fight Shinryu.

With that out the way, the actual reason why they won't is because it's a bad look for them if people start utilizing these children characters to ERP all over Balmung.

So how about mentality (mentally? brain processing powers? critical thinking? iunno pick one)? I can't imagine a kid (or a group of kids potentially in the hundreds, which would just be jarring) being capable of handling constant danger involving death and destruction (some of which us, the players, are responsible for) on a near daily basis.

And again. This. Game. Specifically. I do not deny that children can be main characters and fight evil. I know there are plenty of games and anime with young main protagonists. And yes, one of the top reasons not to have them probably are perverts. But to me personally, it would just be really immersion breaking, to be one of the few adults in a sea of children, when I take out a primal or fight the Garlean empire.

We have people running around with Fat Chocobo heads, bikinis, huge Succubus horns, etc. I'd say children chars wouldn't be that out of the park, especially with all the lala's who look more like babies.

That's an argument, I think it really depends on the child's age and their character. Like we have an actual 6 year old in FF9.

I could see in FFXIV's world potentially 13-14 year olds working as that's not too far off from Alphinaud (16).

I dont think this will happen, but SE did create a concept art for their Viera and it showed a teen version of the Ivalice Viera. So while we might not get a teen miqote, I would not be suprised to see a new race that looks alot younger.

Well if it's just one kid capable of handling death and destruction, it's fine (I still hate children heroes, but that's my opinion), but when it's like... hundreds or something (playable, I mean), then it's just ergh. Even for a fantasy game, having so many kids capable of killing 'Gods' and not being phased by horrible disasters/tragedies is just... I don't like it :U

The Lalafells already look like children. The Cats look like they are about 16 to 18 years old. No way there going to make them look younger than that..

And they balance it with Lalafells by giving them the most fucked up lore in the game at present as well as going out of the way to make /sure/ we know they're adults. While there's many sexual innuendos and implied situations in the game, Lalafell's by and large make up the bulk of them with this year's entire Moonfire Faire event being a testament to how perverse they can be. They look like children and have OOC emotes that lend credence to that notion, but in game they're anything but childlike which helps break some level of the 'ick' factor for me when I see one running around in a bathing suit. It also helps that they're essentially sentient potatoes.

Actually children on the other hand? No thank you, I don't care how cute they look, that's just begging for creepy shit to happen.

I believe we already witness the younger version of Cat,Elezen,Hryuu,Au Ra.
But I never saw young Roe before.

Indeed, I too am curious where are the Roe kids?

The Roe children were actually planned for 4.0 but got pushed aside for lizard kids.

We're probably going to see them with 5.0 or 6.0 depending on if we go to Garlemald or not.

We are sculpted from clay and given life by The Twelve.

Most Miqo'te already are borderline and look very young (probably around 15-18 human years). It has also already been established that Miqo'te age and grow in size, so they can't just throw the Lala card out there. We simply can't have children hooking up with adults, even if they are just avatars.

With possible ill and creepy intentions aside, I believe each race/clan has a size/height range so a much smaller Miqo'te would likely have to be implemented as a completely different race/clan option.
