Excuse. Why? They made all the racial gear pieces which were all unique, dyeable in a patch. When they weren't before. So yeah. Excuse. If they can make that gear dyeable, they could've made Shisui dyeable.

I'm conflicted. On one hand, I think the sets are pretty and would love a dyeable version. On the other hand, I hate that SE puts out dyeable versions of previously non-dyeable gear and is like "LOOK, NEW STUFF!" But back on the other hand, creating art assets is time consuming. But back on the other other hand, it's hard not to see this as lazy. But on the other other other hand, a lot of work clearly went into Stormblood. But on the other other other other hand, they really couldn't think of anything else?
At the very least, they couldn't even be bothered to give us every version of the set? The healer/caster tops have sleeves, the tank set has armor bits on it, the caster bottom doesn't have a skirt, etc. How much work would it really be to give us dyeable versions of all those sets? The differences seem trivial from a work standpoint, you clearly aren't making new models, but you couldn't even grant us that, SE?
I don't like being negative, but geez. The event hasn't even started and it's already left a bad taste.
If you're looking for a v shape why ya previewing on a midlander?
That said, thinking about it from my last post- if we had to get only one set I wish we were getting the m/f healer ones. They're the cutest of the bunch :c
While fair, that was a patch update. This is a side event they won't even turn the servers off for. I imagine the unique sets took far more work, hence why they bundled it into a patch in lieu of just saying, "here you go!" Personally, I just don't care enough whether it's "lazy" or not. It clears up my inventory for a set I rather fancy.
Moonfire Waire?
The dungeon gear should have been dyable, instead they decided to release 1 via the dungeons and the dyable version as a event reward, this screams laziness. I was hoping for the kimono/yukata outfits as this years Moonfire Faire reward, instead we get another rehash.

This. We just got a huge expansion with two extra updates a few weeks afterwards, and we have two events coming (Moonfire and the Rising). Devs needing to save time because they're already giving us a lot of stuff isn't laziness. Given them a break.
Besides, I find the Moonfire rewards very nice myself. First of all, they're releasing an improved version of my favourite type of set, which my WHM character couldn't wear (and she still couldn't have worn it if we simply got "dyeable dungeon sets"). Second because we can have the dyeable version *now*, otherwise we'd have had to wait many months, if not until 5.0 itself. Third, because I'm personally an alt-holic and now my low level alts have a chance to wear it too.
(Oh, and fourth, I really, really disliked the sleeves and extra details in the original sets; they somehow screamed like cheap e-bay cosplay to me, so I like the Moonfire top much better *amused*).
tl;dr, I don't think the event is bad at all, I understand why it's this way, and I sure will be enjoying it.
Wish we were getting the sleeves on the top..
When they said V shape they meant the cut of the speedo from the front. Like

My only real regret is that we girls can't get that pant, I find it pretty nice and would not mind switching the skirt for it :/
So... they start with 10min event containing 3 quests, and now they're making gear copy/paste? What's the point of event anymore? Where did last year event go with the cool quests and armor and emote? (Mog station I know). I know they just relased SB but even the one from HW's release year had better stuff.
I repeat, you're a customer and this game is a product. SE isn't your mom or your boss, they're not granting you a privilege.
Of course you should complain when something displeases you, otherwise the company will assume they're doing good (or that they can get away with it). Criticism is important.
This event overall isn't that significant but it's part of a bigger problem lately. SB launched with less skins than usual, the new crafted gear is a dyable version of WoD gear instead of a new skin, and worst of all they released a cash shop exclusive set and exclusives emotes a few months ago (something that's downright disrespectful for a game with a subscription). Do you still not see the issue ? What does this say about the future ?
I'll ignore the blatant ad hominem for the sake of discussion.
The gold saucer event was just an disappointment because you got every single price of the event by doing one quest. (I mean they even gave us 30k as a reward to buy everything at once)
Yet they got even lazier and just copy pasted an existing dungeon gear, took some parts away and made it dyeable. :/ Who would ever swim with socks on? This also means that anyone that wants at least one dyeable set will have to buy it from the mog station next year if they miss it this year..
Really after seeing my first event in Rift I just shake my head at the so called "events" here in FF14. Its mostly just short fates and stuff and mostly done in a few minutes. While in Rift you have so many achievements that you can do and so many things to buy.
At least you could have given us all the sets as dyeable gear for this event..this would have at least helped for storage problems..but its even just one too.
Glamour is truly not strong in SB..and I really fear that the only good stuff will go into the mog station.
Funny fact is, if they did not add previous rewards in kupo shop but gave us the ability to get those back next year instead people would probably not call them lazy cause more rewards = more time spent on the event (for those who missed it the past year)

SE on shooting yourself in the foot.
(do english speakers use that expression too ?)
To be fair, whilst I'm not impressed with the rewards on offer this time around whether or not a reward is 'good' is subjective to any given individual. The rewards for the anniversary event and/or the Halloween event may be much more subjectively appealing and meaty. We'll just have to wait and see.
Not a fan of chaps. I don't need to be showing that much crotch.

Notice how rewards just get less and less.. Minus Little Ladies day
If they didn't add the fuga set to the cash shop we would've had an unique set for this year's Moonfire Faire.
Not gonna quote the entire list, but here's a few corrections.
Your list of the rewards from the 2015 Moonfire Faire is actually from the 2014 one. The 2015 one had two variations of southern seas tops and bottoms.
The 2015 Rising Event had Ysayle and Yugiri minions, not Moenbryda.
The Iroha event was a collaboration event with FFXI, and not a seasonal event.
The 2016 Rising Event had Krile and Dress-up Y'shtola minions.
The 2017 Little Ladies Day also had the Songbird dance emote.
Because we haven't gotten the remaining events for this year yet. If you've been playing XIV for a while, you'll notice that they always pick some events to develop more rewards for, while other events get less rewards. This changes every year.Quote:

2014: A minion, and earrings.
In comparison to: Valentione's Day
2017: Emote, a minion, a furnishing and an orchestrion roll.
2016: Two hats, two earrings, three furnishings.
2015: A barding and two furnishings.
2014: A hat, gloves and boots for both genders, chest and pants that were gender specific. Three necklaces.
As you can see, the 2014 Valentione's Day event had more rewards than the 2014 Little Ladies Day, while the 2017 Little Ladies Day event had more rewards than the 2017 Valentione's Day event.
I never did the 2014 summer event as I had not joined at that point. But I remember those items being in there(2015 summer) for sure...
And I see there were alot of things I missed with a bunch of events in 15, 16, and 17 lol. It still doesn't change the pattern <.<. Like it's literally not just one odd event with only one or two rewards. It was one after the other ever since Saints' Wake 2016. And the events also have no depth anymore. Grab quest -> Talk to NPC -> Complete.
They were added to the mogstation in 2015, so I'm fairly sure that they weren't obtainable through in-game means, at that point.
You're missing the point I was trying to make. Not every event in their respective years will have the same amount of rewards. If event x and y have little rewards in one year, while event z has more rewards, that means that they put more focus on event z.Quote:

And they've said Stormblood was even more daunting due to the amount of changes being made, yet they wanted to push through and maintain their schedule. Basically, they have a similar workload but aren't taking a break. Thus, less important things won't be a major priority. That's... not really surprising.
My inventory is ready! Took some time to clean out btw.... and could use more space still, after all that... anyway, bring it on! :)
more Posing ranger please let have female villain witch
Or instead of wanting people to stop playing something that they still like in some aspects, maybe accept that criticism is a important part in the company-customer relationship? I mean if everyone just stops because they find something bad instead of just complaining about it..well you might not be able to play FF14 anymore since they need people to continue the game. Also criticism is a good way for them to improve thus making the game better for everyone. Its way better than just seeing the numbers of sub dropping without them knowing why.
Sometimes I do get the feeling like some take criticism toward SE as a personal attack..
We got less content in SB then in HW (no new race, only two jobs, same manner in which they will release content, lots of recycled gear in dungeons and more) so if this would be way more taxing, then it would be quite concerning. Anyway like someone has pointed out, instead of giving us that one item as a cash shop only item, they could have used this as unique glamour item. Yet they decided to put it into the cash shop again while the event itself only has a reworked gear set. I just hope that at least the quest itself would be more than the gold saucer event one.
While I agree with the part where SE (and some players) should accept criticism, but to be fair, there's quite a bit of work going into creating the new skills and re-balancing of class/pvp in SB too. Whether those effort pay off is another topic though. At the end of the day, the seasonal events usually alternate between "good" and "bad" rewards. If you find this one "bad", just hope the next one is better I guess?
On a side note, was there ever any seasonal event that received so much backslash before it even launch? (Well there's the youkai event but that's a cross-over event instead.)
