In the old system, even mages had to wait 51 seconds to get all their TP back in combat (60/tick) and thus get the full 20 seconds of sprint. Simply removing the TP requirement is a big advantage, even for them. That said, 51 is still less than 60, and plenty of mechanics in this game work differently in and out of combat, so I don't see why sprint recast shouldn't be one of them.
my guess is that they felt that there needed to be compensation. not just for sprint no longer costing TP, but for the new mount speed and how specifically TP users could utilize it more often.
however, i believe they were focusing too much on one factor (TP users) and did not keep an open mind.

SE seems to have this idea that to fix a problem for one group they have to break things for another. There is no reason to have to treat classes the same. SE could have kept Sprint based on TP and shorter CD for casters while eliminating the dependency on TP and long CD for melee or better yet give the player a choice via the actions.
Considering it ate all the TP? No.. this change is much better. Sorry, even as a WHM main this is a better option.
The sprint change is fine. I am glad for the change because now Melee/Tanks can sprint. The only change I would say is increase how long you sprint when in town and that's it. Everyone is able to sprint I really don't see what the problem here is.
I love the new sprint change! It's finally useful for all jobs during raids.
Why should casters have the advantage? The skill was adjusted for all jobs.... they changes the CD for a reason obviously.

Yet people still don't use it even though it doesn't cost anything I still see people never using it in dungeons. Nor do they use it to escape large AOE's which cause death.
The cooldown is too long, however even for casters this change is generally a good thing. Being able to sprint through dungeons just meant you got to hurry up and wait for the tank and melee to catch up. Once TP users really start to realize they can sprint whenever it's available, dungeon runs will be that much faster.
at the very least they can give DoW/DoL a different sprint.
Habits leftover from when it wasn't a viable option are too deeply ingrained, at least for now. It's a bit early to tell whether it will remain under-utilized or whether over time we'll start seeing more people making effective use of it. (Probably some of each, depending on who you get teamed up with.)
The sprint cooldown is there to balance fights now that everyone can use it, or dodging would be too easy constantly. If it's a problem for gathering classes, instead of a different sprint, I would suggest a speed buff granted after "killing" the node (so you can't abuse it by leaving the node) for some seconds to help players move from node to node without adding new abilities and making it more interactive with gathering itself.
Casters are ranged, so they're not in the area of nearly as many AoEs as melee fighters are. Plus they already have another reason to not be sprinting constantly—cast bars. So a free Sprint skill is a lot more powerful for melee DoW. That had to be balanced with the longer cooldown to avoid being OP.
I honestly disagree it would be OP. Telegraphs are easily avoidable without ever using sprint.
I always thought if sprint consumed all TP for DoW jobs, then it should've consumed all MP for DoM jobs; at least everyone gets free sprint now.
But TP regens faster than mana....... Can't tell if serious or not LOL
I like the new Sprint. I no longer need to be on DRK for speed runs in Gubal Hard :)
My question is, why are DPS players not using it?
Everyone who likes it are melees talking about in combat and everyone who hates it are not talking about combat and hate the cooldown time. I hate it because I'm just trying to run from quest to quest in cities and it's taking forever when it used to be much faster since I could sprint more often. We can all agree it's cool that melees can sprint in combat now but just make it the old timer when out of combat
The only reason I can think of that the dev's would do this is to force things to take longer, thus people need to be subscribed more.
