I WANT YOUR STUFFS
GDI WHY ALL QUITTERS NOT ON MY SERVER
Printable View
You fail to note that the game will be free of monthly fees for over a year. Yoishida said 1.19 was the halfway point, not 1.20. Show me a MMO company that has had a free period that long without going to F2P model or taking any income and still be alive.
Quit your bitchin.
OH and another thing, they could had just not offer us anything and charge us full price. I'm quite tired of the selfish attitude some of the people is in this community, maybe the sub fees you filter some of you out.
If you really care about a lower price, just get the 6 month plan. You'll be playing that long at least if you really do like the game.
In reality the fee has nothing to do with 2.0.
They can either close the shop until 2.0
or make those who want to use the service pay for it up until 2.0.
There is no third option unless SE were a charity organization, which it is not. They don't have to keep the service running.
A couple of thoughts that I hope people can respect.
I think billing systems should be as simple as possible. This system isn't simple, and the character and retainer charges are both unwanted and unneeded.
Secondly, I'm happy that Square compromised, however it remains to be seen if there is $8 worth of content in FFXIV per month.
If this is a sarcastic reference to what will be the equivalent of WoW's cross-server dungeon finder, it still doesn't allow you to choose the people you play with on other servers. You're randomly queued up with others, and it's only to run instanced dungeons.
As it is now, that would mean you could only play with people on other servers during a Toto-Rak or Darkhold run. And only the Twelve know who would be plunked into your party, and what server they'd be from.
Here goes people with the 50% crap again. Yoshida said after 1.20 the game's systems will be almost to what they expect that the current engine can handle. (meaning over 50%) If you can't accept this then you simply don't have to resubscribe. I know a lot of people are going to enjoy less complaining on the forums.
For the great majority of people, the game wasn't worth it when it was free.
The point being, that's entirely subjective and everyone here already has different standards than the public. For many people, there will be $8 worth of content in this game. And for many others, there won't be.
It already sounds different from dungeon finder, much more all-encompassing for one because the server structure is made to handle such system from the get-go.Quote:

Now, that's not to say in the end it won't be just like dungeon finder. But the fact is that SE has a system in the pipes that will potentially allow you to play with your friends on other servers even on the same character. That's a better option than being lazy and just doing the half-assed option other MMO's do and force us to create new characters for it.
beware using real logic on people
they tend to be offended by it
it is true, we already play at a discount from most MMOs
and add on the 3 extra dollars to it for the next year and its not that bad(in my case itl 5 per month less since im going with the 6 month plan)
so 2 a month normaly cheaper
5 with the discount
7 if you go with a 6 month plan
works for me
True, I'll give you that, Betel. It would be nice if SE had a grander vision of how to utilize this tool, expand and improve upon it.
If you truly had cross-server freedom, that would be something quite innovative, indeed.
I suppose I'm just getting a little jaded in my faith that they can implement something so complex when they didn't build an MMO that could handle mailboxes, player searches or linkshell management. :/
how much crysta will it required/30 days now ?
I understand your point and we can do nothing but wait and see, but just because these features are not in the game does not mean it couldn't handle them. It's just not worth it to develop them for the current structure at this point.
We know that they need to go beyond our expectations to prove their competency this time.
The discount is great, Ill take it.
Really? And probably in your email inbox already, too.
And why has this product been service free for so long? Could it be due to the fact that it was rushed and had no content? Show me a company that would even dare release 2, yes 2 MMOs in such bad condition at launch as XI and XIV. SE has plenty of money to finish this project with or without your monetary contribution, and if you think they don't, that speaks very low of their previous products.
I simply stated my opinion, you're entitled to do the same, I don't go knocking you for being an FF fanboy.
Yes they could have, though the servers would likely be even less populated than they already are. I'm not being selfish, when you start earning my money and paying my bills, then you can decide where I spend it, till then shush. If anyone is being selfish it would be SE asking it's customers to continue to pay for an inferior product.
Some of us live pay check to paycheck due to the current state of economy and or don't wish to invest long term into a product that has no foreseeable future.
If you don't wish to read posts like mine, then don't read them, and don't waste your time responding. If that doesn't help, then don't visit the forums, most of the posts contain some negative reactions because believe it or not, everyone has differences of opinions.
It's too bad too, I had high hopes for this game for quite a while. If they had at least finished the original vision of the game it might have been a completely different story, but half implemented this and that, and no content at launch, well I think that was the stake in the heart of this undead game. (sorry for that reference)
If your account is EU it will be 0.01€ per crysta.
100 crystas = $1 / €1 / £1
Then the price (and thus the amount of crystas) will change according to your currency.
Very true, and if the game does make it to 2.0, they've already stated that there will be another free month. My guess is to try and get back players that don't feel like paying to play for a year before the game is finished. So if that comes to pass, then I can always try it again, and hopefully I'll be in awe of the improvements.
This is great news. I have no issue in paying to pay. My main concern is will people stop playing and if they do will the servers be as dead for parties as it has been in the last 2 weeks. Maybe its just the server I am on I am not sure if this has happened on the other servers. Now granted I can solo but I prefer to party. Also how much new content will there be or better yet how long will the content be? SE needs to make sure content is not something that can be finished before they release the next version update.
Correct me if I am wrong here but didn't they say you have to setup your billing for automatic renewal "IE" credit card and not crysta?
It's sad people should learn about economics when talking about pricing of games...complainers will complain...buyers will buy...the supply and demand will dictate the direction...right now...they don't really care...and I'm sure they'll re-evaluate it when 2.0 comes out. But the price is too low anyways...especially if you pay in advance...
There are a lot of people I know that would pay full price. So, the discount should come to make many happy. If you still complaining go pay your $15 to another MMO already. Seriously...
Um just use your credit card and buy crysta...if you set it to automate the purchase of x amount of crysta a month then the crysta is applied to your FFXIV subscription when you automate that. They just want to use crysta for more then just this game. Like many other game companies one virtual currency for multiple games.
They figure if you buy enough crysta and get bored of one game you'll use your left over crysta for another game.
It's this {they can do no wrong} mentality that allows governments to become corrupt, and companies to keep screwing over their customers with terrible products.
People payed for a product, the product was incomplete and people are voicing it. You on the other hand are defending their actions and telling everyone that doesn't agree with you that their opinions don't matter.
other companies don't allow your character do to every class and craft.
Don't bother calling in EVE: it don't have class, nor you can max out everything
As I wrote in another forum voicing more or less the same problems, other than being a business strategy, as they already said before release in many interviews, the 3$/€/£ of the characters is there because they want to promote a sort of social projection of the player in the character.
A 'persona' of sort (psychologically speaking); that way, the player develops and builds a sort of permanent reputation in the world (and we all know that a bad reputation is hard to reset), trying at the same time to diminish the bad behaviour many players tend to have just because 'it's a game, so there are not any problems with how I behave'... and being the price of a single character so high, it'd not be so common for someone to just buy another character (or wipe out the progress with the one someone already has) just to start with a blank reputation.
That way, someone will try to act the best they can, because, let's face it, no one wants to be the black sheep in a community... any kind of community
Other than that, you don't even have the 'mule' fact, because we have retainers, and they cost 1$/€/£ each.
And of course, we don't really know how many variables a single character has to store, given the amount of jobs/skills and whatnot (Skyrim comes to mind.. each save is roughly 5MB in size... ok, they're different games altogether but try to get to my point here).
Of course, everything in here is my 2cents on the matter. I'll gladly pay for the service, I just hope patch 1.20 will be delivered soon, the wait is killing me.
Edited for better formatting <_<
You so exaggerated here it's not even funny.... No one is paying out the arse for the monthly subscription on this. I have two characters and am a little glad they have applied a reduction to the monthly fee per character. Otherwise, I would have been paying $16.00 per month.
It's quite simple - just like everything else in life that you have choices given to you, do not play an additional character here. No one is forcing you to do so. :)
So uh... all i really see is for the most part is the complaining about $3 character slots.... this is how i see it:
SE target price $9.99
$6.99 (basic service) + $3 (character slot) = $9.99 <- NO other existing MMO is this low!
$9.99 (full service) Same $H!T as above ^^^
and if you really gonna complain about needing to pay for another slot for another character, you really have too much time and too little money... I suggest finding a minimum wage job to support this $3 fee (half an hour of work for 30 days of an extra slot).
The price isn't bad but click and buy, eww no thank you.
This may or may not be true, as the page doesn't explicitly state whether there will be purchasable retainers available once sub goes live. The statement is ambiguous enough that it can be read both ways, and without any explicit mention of purchasable retainers at all atm, I'm leaning towards the side that there in fact may very well be no purchasable retainer until 2.0 at the earliest.
