I don't disagree about your comment about who the toxic players actually are, but do they have to announce their quitting reason in the open either? We see a ton of these threads and they're all over things no one gives a damn about in a couple months, and there's a good chance they will come back later because their excuse is petty.

Yes, how dare people voice their displeasure over wasting countless hours on the misconception that the anima would be BiS until the expansion just like the relic, when it was instead replaced nine days after completion. Being upset over being duped into grinding our lives away only to have the carpet pulled out from under us completely without warning is quite petty.

Nothing has value.

People beat Savage in 250 crafted gear. You can get that day 1.
You can quit for 4 years, come back, do story and get crafted gear. Grats, you can beat every fight now.

+ 3 Weapon Dmg over Relic does make it better though regardless of secondary stats..
Anyhow yes it was a kick to the face considering the last step of Relic was just introduced but will not leave over this, then again i have not Pre-ordered Sb either.
If the only reason which is sounding like it is, was to add 280 weapons only to get people to actually go to Diadem, we know Diadem is still a problem they could not fix...

Misery loves company and it'seems a lot easier to complain than it is to be positive. I stand by that it'd be better to provide ideas going forward that'd might prove to be better than complain about things you can't change.

This was the worst possible response.

Giving out an i280 that heavily undermines Anima and Alex weapons is bad, but it isn't the core of the issue here. The problem is that those two weapons have a consistent method of acquisition. The Anima weapon requires the same level of effort from everyone with a very small amount of variance. The Alex weapon might require more or less effort to gain depending on player skill, but you're still guaranteed to obtain it at some point as long as you clear the fight. No matter what, everyone is on equal ground, and everyone has the same potential to obtain a weapon.

This weapon adheres to no such principles. Two people who put in equal effort and have equal skill do not get the same result from this. It wouldn't be as bad if it was common and easier to get. People would be far less angry if they felt like they had an actual chance to obtain it, and it didn't come out of nowhere. Making it like a lottery makes it infinitesimally worse.

This is ridiculous. I hope this is that silly little damage control thing he sometimes does to back up his team when they make awful design decisions, and he actually intends on rectifying this.

You have would hated how legendaries used to be in wow.

What in the hell are you talking about? I have said, consistantly, on this thread and others, that the only reason I started and completed the anima was so that I would have BiS from completion until SB. Are you just trolling me, now?

The worst thing about this is, so many people choose to ignore the inherent problem with trivializing the strongest weapons in the game and your completed anima weapons on a whim.

Keep ignoring it, and SE is going to think it's fine to do this, and soon every ultimate raid weapon is going to be trivialized by some other random piece of content they want us to run.

SE aren't physic. They need our voices and criticism. Otherwise this is just going to happen again, and people really will start leaving the game for better games with better systems in place.

Please do not. There was wisdom in enticing a piece of equipment with the endgame level accomplishment that has been asked for in odd patches for years. The argument that these weapons are more powerful in a shorter period of time (which is false for Raid weapons, which typical have about a six month lifespan anyways) goes against the desire of dedicated endgame players to have content beyond raiding to keep them occupied for more than their weekly lockout. Also creating content that entices players who have completed their raiding progression and are completed or mostly completed with their gearing from the raid also wanted some more sense of progress beyond Savage Raiding.

The Diadem 280 weapons satisfy these needs in this regard.

Do not disqualify the desire for continued progression simply because you dislike the manner in which it was executed. Please keep your arguments more nuanced than that.


Not that I agree with the elitism statically-reliant endgame 'progression' creates anyways - I do accept it as a reality of our game. Perhaps you should consider the catering to casual players, also a hallmark of this game, a continuing reality as well? Neither one of these has changed, and I doubt they will.

The boss said so himself in the last Fanfast, "I TRUST NO ONE"

It has been 6 months since A12 Savage came out. That's more than enough time to have small increase in item level. At this point everyone who is still doing savage content is already outgearing the fight anyway.

Yea and it's not like you can just go and get the Coven weapon for every job in a week. It's completely random and extremely low drop rate. Relic weapon is still ideal.

What about all the amazing things in this game? Story, music, fun fights, friends, etc.
The numbers they set on items can break enjoyment on all of that? You're not interested in playing all the new content, exploring the Far East, being a samurai, etc. because they set a rare weapon to lv280...?

The only reason I made an anima was because it, like the relic, was going to be BiS from completion to SB. They killed that after nine days. All of that effort, the countless hours, the couple million gil, all of it was a complete waste. And SE did so just to bait people into their awful new Diadem. Yes, there is a lot of good to the game, but I could have spent the wasted time with my family and friends. I could have spent it on something fun. I was duped out of a lot of time, and that's hard to overlook or forgive.

If there was any content in the game at all that I had to drag myself through the dirt with my the strength of nails and my hatred in the bleak ice cold pouring rain to barely even have a glimmer of hope to meet dps checks for on my 270 main I would care about this.

As it stands I can easily dps through any content that I put forth the effort to learn mechanics for so having +3 weapon damage means absolutely nothing to me.

@OP. i280 by your own admission is the best weapon in the game because it has the best stats. However what is the point of having such high stats when there is literally nothing in the game, not now or in stormblood, that requires you to have stats this high.

For all intents and purposes, this weapon has no actual use, other than to show that you got really really lucky and probably wasted a lot of time.

That said, I think the developers could have released this content with 275 weapons and had chance to obtain one be a little better and I think this whole fiasco would have been avoided and you might have more people enjoying the content instead of ragequitting.

Personally, I won't be participating in this content at all because I have no desire to play the lottery when the cost of entry is 1hr of my time. I'm perfectly satisfied being i270 with my anima weapon for stormblood launch. I'll continue to log in and do zhloe each week and work on side projects like leveling up my desynthing and crafting stuff for my house.

I'm sorry, but i feel like there's much wrong here. Much obvious too.
You go and do something you do not enjoy, to be BiS for Stormblood, which is gonna last until.. level 65 most likely?
Now you complain that you could be BiS until 67? Not even full BiS, only the weapon BiS until 67.
I feel like something is wrong here, but not judging, it is your time, your choice.
But then again, you chose to ditch Friends and Family so you could force yourself farm a virtual item to be BiS for level 60-65.
I feel like it's wrong, cheap and dirty to go around and blame any of that on SE now.

Now, 90% of the players will most likely not get their weapon, even if they try.
Which in return does keep the Relic relevant, even if it is slightly weaker than the 280 Diadem.
But at the same time, it does give Diadem more purpose, it does give people something to work towards to.
People need goals, it's an important part of mmos.

And for those that do get it, it's just a fancy toy to mess around with. That is all.
You might get some new pushes when speed running.
Some might go harder, some might take it easy.
But it's new stuff to do, new goals to bridge the gap until stormblood.
It literally doesn't change anything besides speed runs and your epeen.

And in a way, I'm happy they did it.
We don't have much content where pretty much anyone can participate, and where people come together like this.
I feel that part is nice and refreshing, it kind of brings people together.

What was all that work defeating Alexander for if some dog in Diadem dropped something much stronger?
