I had this exact same argument and have yet to get a thoughtful response! In the end, it has nothing to do with what's smart of fair. It doesn't even have anything to do with what's healthy for the queue times. All it is is people complaining that they didn't get it their way.
It never ceases to amaze me that after getting such amazing announcements that all people can do is complain. I really wonder if I'm the only one who is actually excited what's coming down the pipeline...
Doesn't want samurai

Go figure.
The issue has more to do with the fact that if you re going ro release a tank or a healing job you do have to implement utility spells, while when you release damage dealing jobs you only have to develop animations for the spells, as the effect to deal damage is straightforward.
My only concern with them not releasing a tank or healer is, obviously, queues. Now this will (probably) even out some six to eight months after the release if we're lucky but its certainly going to be a pain for awhile. I'd agree that new classes don't necessarily lead to life long healer and tanks but in my experience they do at least pull in new people willing to give it a go for a short time. Some will stick around, most won't, but that supplements the ranks of healers and tanks just enough to somewhat counter the influx of dps that always follows when a new class drops. Without that, and with life long tanks and healers also taking a break to try out the new classes since they don't have one of their own, we're going to see an increase in the already existing shortages. Otherwise I don't find anything wrong with not having new tanks and healers and I'm excited to see some more dps options for my alts. Actually I was a bit worried after how long it took them to balance Astro in with the original two but that said, I think they need to be on point with the reworks/new abilities to be added in order to keep the tank and healer roles (especially the original four) from growing stale.
To be honest there are quite a few tank pieces that are not like tin cans and some are even pretty feminine (void ark cough)
Here are few for you to check out:
Hellfire Armor of Fending
Prototype Midan Coat of Fending
Midan Coat of Fending
Demon Armor of Fending
Dreadwrym Armor of Fending (or replica)
heavy high Allagan coat (or replica)
Void Ark Armor of Fending
adamantite pauldroncoat of fending
sky pirate's coat of fending
holy rainbow shirt of fending
Yafaemi Mail of Fending
Not to say these are all extremely feminine, but they are hardly tin cans. Quite a few are from this expansion as well. If you check some of those out maybe you'll find something you like. I personally really like the Midan Coat of Fending and the Void Ark set and the Hellfire body.
As for OP....sure be salty about it but you have kinda a rude attitude going on by labeling people "weebs" just because they like SAM and you don't. Not only your opinion matters sorry :/
I wanted Dancer preferably but a lot of people wanted SAM so I can enjoy and be happy that people can be excited about it and maybe get some players back to the game for SB. While I kind of wish a new healer was brought in because I love healing SE obviously needs more time to work on balancing healers and tanks and I just got an awesome healer at HW (AST).
Since when did asking for feminine armor equate to bikini armor? There are plenty of ways to give a more feminine feel to female versions of armor without resorting to bikini armor.
As for female armor not being functional, none of the armor we use is strictly functional. Asking for feminine style for female armor is not asking for bikinis. There were several designs in the tank armor contest that used feminine sale on the female version, and they would have been awesome, instead SE chose another mis-shapen lump of metal.
Ast....Balanced?

Can I ask a question? What if the situations were reversed? What if RDM/SAM were 3.0 and AST/DRK/MCH were 4.0? Would melee/caster DPS be complaining they got nothing this time around? Would you still say "You got something last time, sucks to be you?"
This is honest curiosity. I'm personally not upset by the 2 DPS only showing, since I'm a healer anyways. I'll just keep on healing.
Personally the main issue with tanks/healer is that right now there are 2 classes each competing for the main spot (drk/pala and ast/whm) while there is only one as the uncontested off duty kings (warr as offtank sch as off healer).
No matter how you balance the pala/whm (they need some love, yes) to be a real main option, as long as warr/schl keep being the best by far off tank/healer the class imbalance would remain. Adding another off tank and off healer class could have solved or at least reduced that issue.
Unless they heavily remake all the tanks and healer to be equally viable as main and off tank/healer, we will keep seeing off tank only wars, off healer only sch unless you are willing to take a subpar compo. At least with the bard spot we got the mch as an alternative so theres at least some choice...
4.0 eye candy for tanks:
more skirts for female tanks to show more leg skin
more shirts for male tanks to show more arm skin
more topless male bosses for female tanks
2.x Ninja
3.0 AST/DRK/MCH
No complains from melee players, if i rember it correct.
There were some complains from casters, that there were still only 2 caster jobs to choose.
I think Kosmos mean female gears more like this

Yes, that would be good. But also, take the typical Cuirass style armor for example. It would be nice if some of those sets (all of them?) had a more fitted chest piece and a skirt instead of pants option; generally more fitted and less bulky would be nice. And before anyone says that's impractical, tell that to the Roman Legions who conquered almost all of Europe in 'skirted' leather armor.
As someone who mains heals, I'm perfectly ok with not having a 4th healer to try to level - at least not right away.
Carrots on sticks are always great ways to encourage people to try something new. I'd be really happy if there were mounts for the healing jobs like the tanks. That's actually one why I've been trying out tanking. I want the bear and panther. I already grabbed the lion.
Yeah, I would be more encouraged if there words hadn't been 'we will spend as much time on balancing the tanks and healers as we did with the AST'. Considering it took them all expansion and its still unbalanced, it wasn't really reassuring.
I think what bothers me is I am not entirely convinced they understand the issue with the balance between the tank and healing classes. The reason PLD and WHM are currently the odd ones out is they are based around effectively providing unnecessary output. Since WAR and DRK have to have enough mitigation to tank anything, any additional mitigation from PLD becomes wasteful. Likewise a WHM has very powerful heals but healing isn't like dps. There is only so much that needs to be healed. Healing in excess to that has no real value. This is why AST is stronger than WHM at the moment. It can heal enough to fill the role but brings extra that WHM doesn't.
Either they need to change the Meta or they need to give WHM new utility because an identity that is 'strongest heals' is a dud identity and will always place WHM as the least valuable option.
Of course the risk with just adding utility is that it risks swinging things back the other way and also risks Job Homogenisation. Its a pickle and one that I think requires a rethinking of how the Jobs fit into the meta.
