Where were you looking?
Anyways,
Variety of content > instanced onry content
Precisely. I see no issue with balancing instances and open world NMs. Everyone gets a little bit of what they want.
As was pointed out, a lot of people actually miss the FFXI camping days. I appreciate that camping for 3 hours wasn't for everyone, but I think it's a mistake to reduce it to irrelevance.
they did this on XI with claim block. Random block between 1.5secs and 3 secs after it spawned (server time) before it could be claimed and attempting to claim would put your ability on cooldown even if it failed.
Server latency seems to be around 1/2 sec or very slightly over it for most ppl. So the same claim block system should work.
As much as you want to say, the game is inclined towards Instanced stuff and even if they place in open world content, the loot isn't going to be as good as Instanced Areas. Even so with timed pops, Instanced gear will have the upper hand. So you can counter my argument as much as you want but unfortunately the direction Yoshi is headed in majority is Instanced.
I would love to see some high level NM's that are too hard for one person but can be killed with two people. Give something fun for you and your buddy to do. Honestly, it is so hard to get a party of 8 together on my server atm, if you are not in an end-game linkshell there is really nothing to do. I really believe having more content for 2-4 players to do (which is rewarding) could really save this game until 2.0.
A good drop would be Tier IV materia. You could make an NM for each kind of materia and the materia they drop could coincide with the kind of challenge the battle had. For example a wind based mob that uses wind attacks could drop Wind Resit+ materia. A mob that needs to be killed with magic attacks can drop Magic Attack+ materia.
This would be so awesome!
What's the point of bringing up the current direction of the game in a suggestion thread? The whole point is to change the direction a bit. Is that all you had to fall back on after realizing how hypocritical you were being before?
And by the way, NM gear can be better than raided and normal crafted gear, it doesn't have to be rare/ex. Dodore doublet is a good example (BiS for Craftsmanship). And that's been out since like last November?
Why do people always have to use the botting comment about open world nm's every time someone mentions it. If my ls claimed a mob in XI my ls was always called bots even tho my ls was a ps2 only ls lol.....
Yeah All they have to do is make a mob, jack up the level give it some drop and a funny name and put ??? in front of it.
Why are there not more of these?
Exactly. They can release 50+ NMs in the time it takes them to make 1 dungeon. That's enough content to keep us busy for a very long time.
With the new claiming system high level world NMs just don't work. You can't design something to be challenging when you can have 50 people beating on it. I suppose they could add dynamic difficulty where each person on the hate list adds to the fight difficulty but that adds more development time. They should just use the old claim system for NMs.
Well, I was exaggerating a bit. But realistically, it probably takes about 1/0 the time to make 1 NM, its drop pool, and the items created by its drops (if they're materials) than making an entire dungeon.
I think we got like 20 mid lv NMs when DH and TR were released? Why can't this continue?
For every dungeon they release, give us 5 NMs. That seems pretty feasible.
You're just a bunch of elitists.
Where is our Serket? Where is our Charybdis?
You know what, they don't even need to be on that level. I can wait for alliance content to get even such minor HNM's.
However, the best in slot items in the game comes from sheep and common grade 5 node drops. I'm pretty sure there is plenty of room in the current itemization to introduce some high level Notorious Monsters before 1.21 which are maybe not the most spectacular encounters ever, but could still top the wonderment and exhilaration I get from killing a Karakul Sheep.
Give us something relevant for endgame shells to aim for other than dark moogle. 3 Months of nothing for us to kill but moogles is 3 months too long.
I'd like open world NMs that are relatively high level (47-55) that can be lowmanned. My small playing group of three friends had lots of fun going after all these NMs as we were leveling up, gave us fun content to do on the side as we were going up the ranks. Currently NMs for us (now that we're 45-50) range between really easy and beyond-a-lowman-party (Uraeus, Eldergoat, etc)
I really think we should stop calling them instanced NMs. I think bosses is the more correct term, as they're the big badass mob you fight at the end of a run.
And yeah, I'd like gear from open world NMs to be useful, just not better than what bosses drop, and I'm ok with that. Like I said, more fun things to do for all of us - those who like to raid versus those who just like to dick around on open worlds.
AS i said before, make a monster 2x as big as regular, give it 50k hp make their attacks 5x stronger then the regular version and make it have 4 normal versions running around it ( give it a different name too) not that hard to do. (for a major company mgiht i add)
If the open world NM drop U/U equipment then that would be ok wouldn't it? Why would anyone monopolize it if their whole group had the drop anyway.
If they had a decent drop rate, a reasonable respawn I don't see a problem.
I wouldn't mind a couple with crazy or random respawns depending on the drop. It is fun to run into something rare and go kill it. However I agree it is not fun to lose claim after claim to another group.
It's a pickle, I don't like a ton of instanced stuff either. A dungeon they intend a group of 8 to run, fine but I would miss those nights where I'm exploring or looking for a NM and bump into someone new and make a friend. I like to hear "Hey, can you help me?" and be able to give them a hand and if everything is instanced we lose that.
no i'm sick of all the gear dropping being u/u and worthless within a short time span.
give an addition of 10 more high level nm's like the original ones and people will be busy for a while. let them drop materials for gear that can be convertable/meldable just the dodore doublet and people have content for a while trying to get hq versions.
Look i know that you may not want to fight lv 99 goblins, no one does, but the point of fighting a lv 99 goblin is that it has a challange but no reward, give this mob a nice reward and everyon will do it.
