Pretty well, comparatively speaking. Obviously WoW and FFXIV top the usual most-played lists for MMOs but they're followed closely by Guild Wars 2, TERA, Blade and Soul, and Black Desert Online, all of which tend more towards the "over-sexualized" spectrum. It's not a question of "does sex sell?" It's "how well does sex sell?"
FFXIV is one of the more conservative MMOs I've played in recent memory. Most of the armor sets don't change across genders (even I find the female DRG tummy window to be laughable) and I'd say a good 80% of the outfits in this game are not sexualized in the least. So I hardly see an issue with giving the character models a bit more volume and shape.
There's a reason I'm coming off as hostile - I have a group of people that finds the over sexualization that is happening within the game to be a detracting and enjoyment killing situation that needs to be voiced.
There isn't a WEEK that doesn't go by that I have to face the reality people want to leave because a certain group of people want to run around as sexually provocative as they can. On one hand - YES - you have the right to enjoy the game the way you would like, the problem lies in upsetting people that consider package sliders and jiggle physics to be absolutley disgusting =(

En Masse is closing their doors and are down to a Maintenance mode crew keeping Tera alive long enough to pay their bills and SWTOR is consistently having to offer free transfers to people stuck on dead servers - SWTOR is dying, there are maybe 5 servers that enjoy a medium population with a player base of MAYBE 50k people..
I suspect there's no real danger of the dev team doing an about-face on this one, but just the same I'd like to say that I support the current system of realistic (for real life, not video games) proportions and non-sexualized combat gear. It's one of my favorite things about the aesthetics of this game.
Then these people need to grow up and out of puberty if they find anything in this game detracting and even more dumb if it kills their enjoyment, not to mention there really isn't any over sexualization, that is usually an excuse people use to find stuff to complain bout, as this game is very tame
Yea, sounds like a bunch of small kids playing the games, or radical feminists, and they complain about everything. tell them, they may need to stick to games that have the kids and everyone sticker, like pokemon and mario.Quote:

They're working professionals - Christians - People with small chidren and morally conscience individuals that have the RIGHT to enjoy this game without people like you telling them to grow up and get over it.
They contribute to this game the very same way you and everyone else does and should have the expectations that their experiences aren't muddied by people who want to run around like a flashing free sex board..
You heard it here first folks - if you think there nothing wrong with varying body types, you're an unconscionable menace to society.
I was going to ask for a source on your claim about EME and TERA, and to ask what in the world gives you the idea that SWTOR is in the least bit over-sexualized, but after this post, I really don't need to.
You don't have a right to tell them to get over it - they have a right to play the game as it's presented - The bikinis are fine, it's the "glamouring" of outfits to make them very sexual that makes people uncomfortable. No worries, working on the suggestion post for that recommendation I made to hide player character models so ALLLL you people can prance about in whatever gets your jollies off without us having to look at you =\
Well you will indeed have to get over it, if ANY glamour in this game makes you "uncomfortable" you need to rethink your life and values. this game compared to others is very tame, Nothing wrong with showing skin in a VIDEO game. This is why i detected young kids playing, because only they get offended of minor and very silly things like "you showing to much!"
But i do have some advice for them, Tell them to stay only in their FC houses, or in a city, hiding, never df never do anything else except among them selves, That way they won't have to see those bad sinners showing skin.
I don't need to rethink one thing about my stance and they have a right to enjoy the game just as much as everyone else and shouldn't have to hide out in their homes away from the more populated areas of the game - Their money is just as good as yours and entitles them to the same comfort and luxury as everyone else.
Never said i did, my point was getting "offended" over midly skimpy outfits in this game is pretty sad and depressing. and they either need to learn to accept it or play some other game.
how is that a threat? but considering the type of person im talking to, i am not surprised you see it that way.Quote:
And um, that sounded like a threat.. will indeed HAVE to get over it - What're you going to do if I and other people DON'T want to get over it =)
Um - no they don't need to accept it and no they don't need to play some other game because a group of people want to run around in skimpy outfits
You told me I INDEED have to get over it - that has a threatening tone to it - I'll either HAVE to get over it or else..
You have to get over it or you will just be a miserable person, getting offended at the dumbest things is no way to live your life. That is not a threat, if anything it's advice. if you do not get over it you'll just restrict your self to the people you meet, and cut your self off.
But i tire of this convo, thise whole pages has been nothing but us, so i'm done, Tell them to mature up a bit. but honestly, your 1st post told me everything i needed, so i don't even know why i kept this going, Good day.
We have the right to tell them whatever we want to just like they have the right to ignore us or tell us their opinion. IMO, closed minded people that won't consider other people's perspectives should listen to others at the very least. That goes for the people telling your friends to grow up. Not every one had the same interests or beliefs.
Gonna break my own rule for this post, but only this once, but there is no over sexualization in this game, Not even sure what would ever possibly make you think that, unless you just use it randomly whenever someone shows an ankle or is not covered from head to toe, Stop over abusing that term, Women and men can show skin without it being called "over sexual"
The same goes for you - the point of all this is tell everyone, issues like this are offensive to other people and those very people have a right JUST like you to enjoy the game as is and not continue to suggest features certain people are going to find offensive... People have no right to force mind sets on people who consider these issues offensive and detracting to their game experiences and should consider them BEFORE topics like this arise =\

I kind of find it a bit silly to suggest that an hour glass figure (Since that is proportional, as per what OP asked for I believe) is "steep" or something..I mean, that is how I am IRL..what is wrong with wanting to look proportionate in game?
I didn't know we all had to be pencils and hank hill butts or else it goes into Namco territory hahaha we had this in 1.0 and it was just fine. I agree though, if you mean Dead or Alive, yeah no thanks. But our 1.x stuff? That was fine :P
Sure there is - it's coming from the player base and giving them creative freedom to CHOOSE to run around like this - Not one person here is even taking into consideration people who might be forced to abstain from sexual activity because of life experiences like being RAPED - Molested - and any other form of issue they're having to deal with in their lives - Nope, you want this issue because the butts are to small or the package isn't defined enough and because of this issue, you seem to have this right to tell them to grow up and get over it.
Nothing more then thinly veiled activism just like every post up here suggesting these features...
The logistics of which are, frankly, impossible. I hope you can imagine the technical and ethical nightmares of hiding player models when, for all you know, you may find yourself in a DF or PF group with someone that you've hidden, or has hidden you. That'd be a trainwreck and a half if you are a healer. And what if they're on a different server? We can't even blacklist people on other servers--what you're asking for goes above and beyond that. So, how about instead of clamoring for an insular community where no one gets offended by anything (an impossible dream, as it is), you simply learn to accept that people have varying tastes that will clash with yours, and accept that that's fine. It's a lot less work for everyone involved, that's for sure.
FFXI has this sytem, albeit more for technical reasons than creative one (I think). Everyone gets their chosen face but all their gear is set to the racial defaults. If they were to create such a system for FFXIV they could just set all sliders and whatnot to racial defaults as well. Not that I'm in favor of such a system or anything, but there's no technical reason you couldn't do it. I'll leave the ethical implications to the philosophers. :)
I'd like the Dead or Alive 40lb boobs(each) to stay out of FFXIV please.
Lol we don't even need "better" bodies. Just more defined butts lol. That's what everyone was complaining/asking about for all this time. That's all we need
Roe fem bust is already pretty dang big on max. Any bigger and it wouldn't make sense anymore.
As a person with a petite body, I appreciate that there is a videogame that actually represents my body type. But, I think the petite bodies should be reserved to certain races. For example, in FFXI, mithra (miqo'te equivalent) were very petite with extremely athletic bodies. They didn't really have a big behind or chest, but other races did. So it would be nice if they did something like that.
But while we're on the topic of proportions... I'm a cosplayer and I enjoy making these costumes. The women have really long legs in this game, yet no one complains about that. Every costume I make, I have to make adjustments for my short legs. But, I'm pretty sure even people with average-sized legs would run into this problem. So why no complaints about the long legs? Because they are 'appealing'?
It's not about wanting proportionate bodies. You just want bodies that fit your ideal. And, that's fine. But let's please call it what it is.
yea! I really hope in 4.0 they bring back something like that..I miss my bum lol
Hehe I am not sure what you are trying to say XD But I do love DoA I just don't want FF to turn into that lmao
Keep my DoA in Doa! ^_^
I understand your PoV...but proportionate bodies are classified as "your hips and bust are the same size" aka hour glass. So if OP is asking for bust/bum to match..that is just simply hour glass, which does not exist in XIV...since they took away our butts haha
