I'd like to see a Magitek Reaper, a Magitek Vanguard, and a Ultima statue.
I doubt they would need an in-game emote to sell.

And selling the high end raid equip would only affect you positively, as the players that buy it would be able to carry the players in worse equip better with their higher output. PvP is synced, so no advantage there and you don't get an advantage on the Market Board game either.
And if you can't afford it, you can still just do the raids yourself and get the weapons that way. Not only does selling power like that positively affect other players, they can also get it via ingame means if they cannot afford it. Seems much better than exclusive cosmetics from a rational point of view. Even more so when you consider that the equipment will become outdated anyway.
Irrationally, people will be screaming at the notion! Just watch.
I'm saying your way of thinking is wrong, and that your priorities are in the wrong places, that's all. I used the not-playing thing as an example, I'm not saying you don't deserve it or that you shouldn't have the opportunity, but the fact that a vanity item affects you negatively (outside of racism and stereotyping but let's not go into that) is very dramatic and attention-seeking. It doesn't feel like a genuine issue.Quote:

I'm saying your way of thinking is wrong.... Lol...
Also I'm quite intrigued in a nervous way about your sudden jump into racism and stereotyping... You are digging deep at the bottom of some barrel
So what i'm getting from this thread:
Waaah pander to me I want to ERP!
Waaah curse the twelve why is everyone privileged but me?!
Sensible people who realize it's just a flavor of the month emote that will be forgotten as soon as a new one is added.
And typical of the forum-goers, they will jump to snappy remarks and insults instead of finding reasoning. Why do I even bother? :D
EDIT: You obviously didn't read my post, since you just twisted what I said about the racism and stereotyping thing. Well have fun whining about emotes bothering you in a negative way.
Frankly, I'm glad this emote is heavily gated behind a paywall, because people spamming it all over the place would get old really fast.
The cost of the statue is fine, as a collectors item. I have bought many figurines from SE in the past (albeit not directly from their store) and they were worth the money that I spent. A lot of time and effort goes into making these items and the emote is a nice bonus. And yes perhaps they could of added it with the mount etc as some people have suggested earlier on in the thread - but they can do as they wish at their discretion. Now if they made an Aymeric figurine, I would happily give them money but I'm going off topic now..
And who knows maybe in time the emote will become available to purchase on its own, we just have to wait and see. Patience is a virtue. As for the OP making a big fuss about it and making other threads about "complaining players" and yet managing to pay for the live-stream... really that in itself is shocking. >_>
Like having a job suddenly makes a $100 emote a good purchase...
Seriously $100 for statue +emote is so far beyond what I think the vast majority is willing to pay. Say .1% of the players pay $100, or they could price it at $1 and 50% of players buy it. In which scenario does SE make more money? (Of course, referring to just the emote not the statue. There's way less demand for the statue than the emote, ironically)
But it's SE's product, I'll just do what I always do when I'm not happy with the price of something: not buy it.
I wonder how many would sell if it came with a stack of fantasia, like the aetheryte tickets.
On a side note there are people out there who just want the statue and there is a good chance you might have the emote listed on ebay... lol
Merchandise should be just that, merchandise.
Charge whatever you want for a statue, within the reasonable depending on the material and paint job, if the Odin statue is really made in high grade materials and has a profesional paint job work is totally worth its price, that for fans who want to get the item. But giving ingame features, even if its an emote is just a terrible way to encourage said bought.
But this company lives off whales and players have asked for this kind of things forever, so expect no diferent. Just the same way a streaming (which service was terrible btw) costed 30 USD and gave ingame content. Content that could be used as a reward for ingame feats actually. But again, people wants to spend money and get instant gratification and braging rights. I can't wait to see the emote spammers "look at me, look at me, i like this game more than you do, because i spend more than you do, am i special yet"
My only gripe is I cant use the emote on a mount. Seriously though I was getting the statue whether it came with an emote or not.
I want the statue and emote so I don't have a problem with this. I keep refreshing the NA store and the Odin still says it will be available for pre-order on 10-17-2016 but there's no pre-order button. Did they forget to list it?
It is up for pre order now: https://store.na.square-enix.com/pro...ty-figure-odin
I just ordered mine :)
Yes, the way I flaunt my Chinese dress and Collector's edition mounts...except I don't flaunt them, I use them, sometimes, and sometimes not. Like everything else. Flaunting is very much in the eye of the beholder. A person wearing a $100,000 diamond ring is not flaunting it simply because you want it and can't have it. They're just wearing something that they have. The problem is not them flaunting the ring, it's more about the envy and jealousy you have in your heart over something that another person has.
P.S. I must also add that I feel that tug sometimes too for things I can't afford. I'm not sure how long it took me to learn this lesson, and it's not a perfect lesson since I can still feel that tug. but I know what it is, and I can put it into perspective.
Wasn't it explicitly stated that they rolled a significant portion of the profit from the game back into the servers and development for 4.0? Seems like the cash shop is part of that profit, so when we're all enjoying expanded inventory, perhaps we need to thank those who do spend more than others on the game in general?
Yes, they did. They're going to be using part of the game's profits specifically for infrastructure upgrades - the hardware and server teams will get the toys needed to figure out a way to give us the "significant inventory expansion" they promised us in 4.0.
I agree, SE was sucking the money up from XIV and using it for other departments. Which.... to be fair, SE did take a huge hit with the loss of 1.0 and gambled with Yoshi P on the 2.0 remake. So they had that right. Maybe that debt is finally paid off and they can actually keep some of the extra money for themselves again.
you can't play the game anymore unless you get this emote?
I do wonder if cash shop profit goes directly to FF 14 dev team, while FF14 sale and subs go to SE where they then give the team a set budget? Since they did say that it was thanks to cash shop profits that they were able to get EU servers.
Uh lol, I'm from a first world country. But with the recent brexit that has increased the value of major currencies, the odin statue costs 263 SGD here. For your info Cait sith costs 90SGD due to shipment and tax here. For every plushie I purchase I can actually get another one.
Btw for malaysians that's 800RM, that's how much two traffic officers make in a month. While I'm not really keen on this or act like I'm entitled to everything, I do think that your reasoning is illogical because you're forgetting not everyone has access to purchasing this without the means of 3rd party. Personally I do think the prices of items are alittle too much, there are too much things locked behind real money purchase (Which is well, your DLC) and it has been happening way too often.
I have a good job for a fresh graduate, in a sense I can afford the things that interests me but that doesn't mean I shouldn't empathise nor close an eye when there is something I feel is becoming unethical.
Tsuyoshi may I ask how you ship the items over to Singapore?
See OP this is exactly what happens in this forum if you complain about things. Instead of trying to find a good argument some people love to throw things like "get a job" at you. Maybe this gives a little understanding for the next thread that you find to be about too much complaining ;).
But I agree with you..I have nothing against merchandise, I even purchased some of them too. They could put them out for 200$ and I would not care, because if I want it I could save up over time or wait for a discount some month later. But those that come with a ingame item are often restricted. I am not sure if this Odin is limited orders only but the code at least will only be there till the end of 2018. This might be a long time for some but for people that need to save quite some money for this, this might be not enough. (And anyone that got the game after that will miss out of this..at least with veteran rewards or even the cash shop you can still get those items..)
And attacking the OP because he bought the livestream for the fanfest is really low..you know that this cost way much less money than the statue? (No shipping costs..) Maybe they got it as a present from someone, or maybe they saved up for this for some time?
Why exactly do they need to put all those ingame items behind it? Are they afraid that otherwise people wont buy it? And if someone only buys this for the figurine than shouldnt it be okay to just put the emote as a extra in the mogstation for some dollar? I mean if everyone here argues that the emote is kinda free and not the reason why they would buy it, than it shouldnt be a problem if others can only buy the emote right? ;) I am quite sure that there will be some of those that would complain that they suddenly could not feel special anymore if that would be the case. So dear SE: Please just put all those merchandise ingame items in the mogstation too! It seems that people only buy this for the merchandise and it seems that for them the items are only a free present anyway so wouldn't it be better if you give them those items free with the merchandise and sell it to us as a extra in the mogstation? Win win for everyone.(And lets see how many people are suddenly like: "No they will take my special ingame items away from me because anyone can get them now!")
As someone that likes to collect minions, scrolls, emotes and so on these merchandises are always a very big annoyance..either because I came to late to the game and the merchandise does not have the items anymore since they were limited thus having no chance at all to buy them (and making the argument, you can buy them later not relevant anymore...) or they are way too expensive for a single emote. (And IMO the Odin statue looks kinda ugly..so I would not have bought it anyway.)
Does SE really need so much money for this game that a sub and a pricey cash shop is not enough? I know they are a company and want to make as much money as possible (nothing wrong with that) but its getting kinda tiresome that if you want to have every minion in the game you also need to buy lots of real live expensive merchandise too..
Its sad that some people cant understand that collecting minions and glamour is the part of the game that is fun for other people. I dont care much about savage, but I really love to get minions and yet I will never able to get them all, either because I dont have the money for it right now or because I came to late to buy a real life item..Does this make the game unplayable for me? No! But its a annoyance for me...Well I still hope for the day where we could buy something like weapons from cash shop..only to have all those people that said that this is no problem, come to the forum to complain about it. Than I can finally use the very bad argument: "But you don't have to buy them!"
