I know what an ISF cert is. I was however talking about resolution, not color.
Good, ISF is not about color it's about Picture so everything that produces it that includes pixels.
the point of having a big screen is emergence, 3 screens that's a wide big screen again emergence.
( I realize that you would get more space in 533563 pixels X 25523424 Pixels) would it beat playing on a couch and being engulfed by the screen size, no.
Would it beat it for you? No. For some other people? Maybe. For me? Yes. For me, the size of the screen means very little if the image is the same as on a smaller screen just stretched out to the point I can see the pixels even more clearly. this is why I prefer the smallest possible screen for a given resolution. Which is why I like 1080 laptop screens over 22" Desktop displays at the same resolution. I don't like seeing pixels and sadly i see them all to easily the larger a screen goes without a resolution bump.
Also, you can't calibrate the pixels on a display, but you can calibrate most everything else. ie Color, brightness, contrast, etc. So, again, I was talking about resolution only.
EDIT: To add a comment about "being engulfed" I just can't see it. The larger a screen is, the farther back you have to sit to see it all. Maybe you like turning your head around to see things while missing others(if there's anything to miss of course), I do not. A 22" and 42" display set to fit in my FoV look the same to me, aside from other panel differences and such.
Am talking about emergence if you only need a 22" to have it good for you, am a full grown man that would be too tiny for me. I would really look like a fool viewing my content the way you described, I guess that would be you trying to check every pixel. There is a ratio between screen size and viewing distance for optimal experience (meaning you would see the whole screen and the intended resolution), I thought you knew about that based on one of your previous posts.
Checking every pixel.... no. I just see them unless the display is beyond a certain point based on the screen size and dot pitch. I don't "need" any specific size. And what I meant was, you can only see so far to the sides without moving your eyes or turning your head. A 24" Monitor and 42" TV at the right distance will look the same. Put them too far and you see everything outside of the TV, too close and you have to turn your eyes or move your head to see it all. Like at a theater, sitting in the front you have to turn your head to see some things clearly. Sit in the back and you can usually see the whole screen and then some. But sit in the right spot and you see the whole screen without having to turn your head or move your eyes and you don't see much to the sides beyond the image.
Also, you can drop the condescending attitude. I don't care what certs either of us have, nor our ages. A cert is something showing you took a course or passed a test, nothing more. YOU show you know the info or not, and YOU show whether you can learn beyond that or not. I may not agree with your view on the subject, but I do understand why you like it the way you watch it.
YOU show that you don't understand what am saying, and this is getting old have a good night.
P.S. Something you might want to think about before you go to sleep tonight, why would someone with 120" screen sit at the same distance they would sit from a 30" monitor?
I understand it fine, thanks. But whipping out a cert or saying that you're a "grown man" is just condescending. I've learned many things from this thread already. And i've also learned over many years what my own eyes can and can't see.
And i've already said they do not. Unless they like moving their heads and/or eyes to see everything. Looking straight ahead, 2 screens of different sizes, placed at the right distance will look pretty much the same.
You, as supposedly having a cert for this type of thing, should know this. It's basic stuff, the farther something is from you, the smaller it looks. And two items that are the same aside from physical size, placed at appropriate distances look the same due that same basic concept. ie a 42" @ 10 feet looks smaller than the same at 6 feet.
I sit 2-2.5' from my 28" monitors, I'd obviously sit further from a projector. However I would not even want a single 47" screen, let alone 120", because I want to be surrounded. It's not just about size, and for me there's such a thing as to big.
The other downfall of a projector is space. Sure, I could use a projector, set up 3 of them, 3 angled backdrops, but it would take up an unbelievably large amount of space. I have a single 6'x8' L shaped desk that I wheel into the corner of with my monitors surrounding me. That's my immersive experience. It's RIGHT THERE. And I have noticed stuff moving to my left and right, I can spot people or monsters better, so it is giving an advantage.
Yep, if you have the space for it, fine. But the thing is, if you sit the right distance away from say your 3 28" displays, and then the right distance away from the 3 120" projection displays, it will look mostly the same due to distance and how our eyes see things.
ie I understand your point. It's not for me, but I totally see why people prefer it that way.
This makes me wanna buy 2 more 24" monitors and hook up my ATI 6950HD like that but there isnt enough space on my computer desk lol
But with that setup you gotta run at a lower res. (draw quality) + you cant have shadow effects on, I like running max shadows + max general and background drawing
Depends on the card(s). A single 6950, likely yeah, you'll need to tone down some settings to make it "playable" Well playable to my standards anyhow. Like when i'm moving I use my laptop until my heavy-as-bricks desktop is moved, but the two GTX 480Ms can't handle 2560x1600 comfortably for me, have to drop it down to like 1920x1200.
holy poop that is the video card I have (ATI 5850) .....must get... two more... LCDs.......
my PC is pretty strong, but I never have run it to its max yet.....
I honestly would just want to do this, so all my chat and UI stuff would be on the two other screens, and my center would be nothing but gameplay and the action bar ^.^
True, however going from low settings across the board to high settings, there's a big difference, but low settings is still damned goodlooking. My laptop has a gtx260m and i run low settings and it looks pretty nice still.
And i'm pretty sure you can get displayport to HDMI/DVI off ebay for under $5.
I did this for a while with ATI, but it ended up being more annoying than it was worth to me. And taking screenshot's really sucked.
Why did taking screenshots suck? I linked a few and they were amazing. Also, though, I use fraps for screenshots.
Active Displayport to HDMI for $9.98, sorry I was close.

The only downside is I can't just throw up a movie on my right monitor, unless I want it over top of the game. And even then I can't fullscreen it. I could put it on my laptop but it'd be to far to the side to watch while playing game.
They've come down in price since i've last looked at them. I'm half tempted to believe that it won't work with anything but the listed Apple devices, but seeing as Apple didn't actually make it, and that DP and HDMI are standards, it should. Now if you have DisplayPort Capable screens, all the better.
meh, screw 'em if they don't have a big enough screen to view full size. they can zoom in and be jealous of your three displays. Also, i'd rather have to much real estate than not enough, if i want to crop it for a banner or something.
Gotta admin, seeing it posted here makes me want to do it again :D
just to make sprintfox stop crying about cpu parking.
can't wait to see what the system does in beta for 2.0 though.
i have 2 monitors.. if i do this my char would be in the middle crevice between monitors lol ..now i must get a third!
nasomi i don't know if nvidia have the option but on ati you have the option to compensate the bezel of the monitor adding more resolution, so the image don't seem to jump from one screen to another. I have 2 7950 on CF and my res is 6000x1080. The bezel on my setups takes around 120 pixels of the screen.
Looks great. Need to get this for myself! :D
