This this this so many times this. SE did not make the items for China. China's distributing company made the items for China. Same thing with Korea. It would be one thing if SE made these and withheld them but they didn't even make them in the first place. At this point it's like complaining that somebody else's mom made them a cool shirt you want.

I love them and I want them available to me but I understand the blame isn't entirely on SE here because it probably isn't their intellectual property (at least not entirely) to decide who does and doesn't get it in the first place.

*smashes her face on the keyboard* do any of you look into stuff before typing...... ff14 in china and korea isn't handled by SE, China has its own company that holds rights/copyright that publishes content for their version of ff14 to handle censorship laws in china ect ect ect. AKA why you cant play with China/go to Chinese servers. And same goes for Korea due to their billing/sales laws. Just a tidbit of info. Yoshi had nothing to do with those items.

In some way, it's like glamour locked race and gender even if i can admit glamour locked country is a bit different because everybody could get it and don't have the lore as excuse.

So, before I respond to a couple of things brought up in this thread, there's something I'd like to get out of my system.

I keep seeing people coming here and throwing around words like entitled and entitlement.

Square still has say in what happens with their game and by extension... those items. The other company may hold the rights to provide the service there, but Square should still be having the final say in anything development/service related. Including promotions.

If it comes down to not being able to give us those EXACT items. Then create something similar. Obviously its got a lot of support behind it and wouldnt become armoire-fodder like most of the promo items we've seen.

I agree 100% with OP. In this digital day and age, it really is quite ridiculous to have items that remain locked to a certain region, more so when we're talking digital items.

Have them for all, or re-direct that dev time into things that ARE for all regions! :mad:

If you took a moment to read before tossing out some sass, you would see that this thread is requesting these items based on the fact that the developers asked for feedback during the live letter.

I find it hard to agree with that mindset. Its lame their censorship stopped them from getting certain outfits, and cool that SE went and made some special ones for them, but I don't see why everyone else should have to "miss out" on something just because their laws got in the way and made them "miss out" on some of our stuff.

Just as a side note, a friend of mine who hasn't played ff14 since ARR randomly saw a picture of the nimbus mount and texted me wanting to know how hard it was to get in game/if he could get it if he reactivated. I told him it wasn't in the NA version and he went back to playing Destiny and wow. Adding cool looking things can 100% bring in casual players who probably aren't going to raid, but have a lot of fun collecting cool mounts and farming the perfect pieces for their glamour outfits.

Whoa whoa hold it there, China I could maybe see the censoring of some outfits but, Korea? You mean the place that created and still runs games like Tera and Blade and Soul; where 90% of female armor consists of plate bikini's and nipple tassles?

So, we should petition our government to censor more of our stuff so we can get cool region specific items, like other countries!?

Seriously, thats the most backwards thinking ever if it's true. Why should everyone else be denied... We didn't ask for their government to be like that. And think of Australia. they get denied EVERYTHING, and yet they dont seem to get any region exclusive items...

I cant speak for the other items but I definitely would love to see the Monkey King items in the NA region. I remember saying I wish they would release these this year for the year of the monkey. Beyond that I would say out of a lot of things that is culturally of Asian origin the story of the Monkey King in its many forms has been embraced by western culture and its a shame that we can't get the items it would have been awesome.

Instead of screaming for it to stop. Make a Thread for more region exclusive items for NA and Europe. Exclusive region content items makes everyone stand out. Why should everyone have the same stuff. This thread just sounds self entitled.

You forgot about the exclusive flying nimbus mount that was recently added.

Seems like we are missing out all the good exclusives.

A majority of mounts and glamour are locked behind raids or otherwise not quite casual friendly means. Unsynced pony farms and farming material for Allagan gear is still too hard for the casual gamer or something.

I've been having an amazingly fun time farming all the ponies for some friends who recently resubbed after a long time being away for IRL things.
We are doing a 4 man undersize and its absolutely no problem, after 3.5 evenings we only need 1 more ifrit pony and they both have them all ^o^

But back to the actual topic.

PLEASE Devs, no more region exclusives. Or at LEAST when a region (Like China) gets a obviously wonderful and popular item (in this case the Nimbus mount/powerpole etc) please state that after a period of time you will be bringing it to other regions. I think most people wont mind waiting a bit if you only communicate with us and assure us that everyone will have access, including the ever nervous pacific who still dont even know if we will be able to participate in the UK promotion for the Maid sets!


Also OP: you might like to link similar threads, hopefully a dev will respond to at least one of them ^^;;;

Here you guys all are, talking about glamours which you already have hundreds of... what are you going to do with all these items? wear them for a day then move on? same for the mounts in a lifeless world with nowhere really to use them other than to sit in Idyllshire and just sit on them while AFK'ing?

You guys do realize that the Playerbase is dwindling and that the game is in need of new content and fresh ideas right? (although I'm looking forward to deep dungeon, hopefully that brings some little bit of a reason to stay playing).

I don't want to tell people how to live their lives but I feel it would be more productive for the longevity of the game to brainstorm ideas on how to make the game better rather than focusing on what a few other regions have that you so desperately want (even though you'll probably just move on after a couple of weeks of staring at it).

pony farms are pretty easily doable for casuals at this point, by far my coolest mount imo is fenrir and that doesn't require stepping foot into a raid. There's plenty to do as a casual if you're just looking for fun glamour stuff, but locking it to specific regions just discourages those who see something they really like from playing when it's impossible for them to get.

i don't see the game dwindling first off. second i feel like people demand for everyone get all same stuff remind me of someone who ran for usa presidents . everyone want equal player stuff look. not everything going be equal in mmo. one region get one item or one events. country are different china has different events. first off people we different langauge are different what players get are different. I feel like pointing out two things

• That Cloud Mount came from a Chinese legend. NOT Dragonball Z. It is perfectly appropriate for it be in the Chinese version
• If what other people are saying is true then there are certain events that would not fly in China because of Draconian censorship laws going as far back as the Cold War. (I'm gonna say at the most extreme case, everything but the Heavensturn event, The Rising and Make it Rain, an at best? likely just All Saint's Wake, Moonfire Faire and possibly crossover events) It is likely that those events in turn would be exclusive to the non-Chinese versions.

If SE wants to make them available to players in all regions, great. But remember that they didn't come about just to spite players in other regions. Same goes for Korea.


Now that that is outta the way. I am curious as to see what does China's cash shop have besides the P2W junk.

I mean your argument is that China should only get the chinese items because of culture...so why shouldn't we lock huzzah using that same logic? You're kind of making my point for me, it would be dumb for them to lock huzzah and its dumb for them to lock the other content. I'm all for them spending dev time to make content that appeals to specific regions, I just want those things to be available for everyone.

Finally, a better point of logical opposition. I think sometimes we fail to realize that a lot of the things we have in the Western version of this game are region-exclusive compared to places like China, whose censorship policies go to the point of having to completely rework multiple storylines just to get it sold over there.

As for Korea, they're actually fairly lax when it comes to gaming censorship standards. Even Korean-made games such as Blade and Soul have elements censored in their Western versions. That being said, my guess is any Korean censorship in FFXIV would be more toward any Japanese-originated concepts (like Ninja), which probably got reworked with name swaps or something along those lines.

In the end, I think these region-exclusives are a means of ensuring every region gets an equal amount of stuff, which brings about the possibility that some regions like ours are potentially getting punished for the censorship policies of other regions, and it's because of that thought that is why I approve of the OP's request.
