no point really especially when SE already gave us earrings in both colors.

you don't represent me but you do represent FF14 community as a whole when you go out there.. whether you like it or not.
That's why there is a saying.. "a bad apple spoils the bunch"
This is also ONE of the reason many companies fires their emolpyees or CEO that brought bad publicity. (FireFox, Taco Bell, etc)
an individual does not have the power to represent the collective unless the collective entrust the power to the individual.
President of a country
Spokes person of a company
however, society often stereotype a community base on an individual. (often through appearance, but in this case.. the op identified his community)
1 black man commits a crime = all black men are criminals
in Russia, the forum posts you!
Merica !!!
After all bunny ears for males threads people made, none answered by community rep for clarification. So sad :(
I remember when this game didn't have glamours at all. Sometimes I miss those days.
Being sarcastic is being defensive or passive-aggressive. If it is just done in fun, then it isn't sarcasm, it's being facetious.
Anyways, my two cents-
I don't personally see a need for a gender lock on any gear. I think if gender lock exists, then every time we get a female-only item, we get a male-only item. And either way I think they need to be more adventurous with gear design and make things more feminine and things more masculine, cover both ends of the spectrum. I mean even the best man's suit doesn't look like it is cut for a man, it just looks like a nice unisex suit. Personally though even with extreme masculine or feminine design, anyone who wants to wear it should be able to.
That being said I do enjoy race-specific and job-specific gear, because it often has a specific design and doesn't look bland. I think everyone should get a little something to feel special. Everyone always says how they wish the elezen dress was available for everyone, and to that I say, I enjoy that I get a tight black leather dress for playing as an elezen. I apologize if anyone doesn't like their hyur or miqo dress, but if you hate it that much, change your race.
I think if they only design with everyone in mind they will only end up making generic, watered-down looks. I think there should be limitations to give gear room to be more unique and tailored to certain aspects, but I do not think gender should be one of the limitations.
Uhm... These posts... I wonder if they are started by trolls..
you over-exaggerate the thing about gender locks...
SOME GEAR IS NOT MADE TO BE WEAR BY SOME GENDERS.
And a hat with a different colored feather is NOT A BIG DEAL.
Firstly, whilst you are fully entitled to be offended or outraged about something, that does not mean anyone is obligated to do something about it.
Secondly, I don't think you understand what 'discrimination' means. There is nothing one-sided or biased about giving out a near-identical hat for both sexes. If one had been given a hat and the other received nothing, then that would be bias.
Now points raised by other people, such as female characters being able to wear male clothes but not vice-versa could potentially be seen as discrimination, however, as you are able to change genders or even pick an opposite gender in the first place (as this is a game), I don't think it really holds much water against real discrimination that happens in the real world.
Um.... They're the creators of the game you are populating. You know. The people who set the rules? That's who they are. In their game, it's their rules.
Feel free to go express yourself however you like in the real world. This is a tired subject that needs to never be brought up again, regardless if it's male or female character favouritism. Wow.
This, right here sums exactly what needs to be said - You are guests here (albeit an honored one) that have no place to dictate to the game developers what they will put into their games - Not getting what you want out of the game, no one is twisting your arms to stay and play so stop bloviating your PoV to people who'd rather not have to listen to it =\
@Derceto & Bladesinger
Just because you dont like a subject and dont like to hear some stuff, doesnt mean that people SHOULD never bring it up again. That reaction you both had albeit by agreeing to each other is totally out of place and stupid (I am sorry I cant find another way to say it). This is a forum, where people can expess whatever they like on whatever they dont like, be it to disagree, agree or ask for changes or wish for stuff. If this is too hard for you two to bare, by all means you can retreive from the discussion.
In a game where people can get married with same gender, where people go around naked, half naked, with bunny ears and stuff, I dont find it totally unrealistic to ask for gears, digital gears, NOT to be locked behind gender.
If a company agrees on satisfying all kind of players by respecting their desires (you know what I mean so I dont think I need to explain more in-depth) I dont see a problem for the company to let the gears be worn by whoever wants to wear them be it female or male.Miqote or Hyur or whatever race.
Refusing to discuss this in a civil educated and respectulf manner is showing a narrow minded view and being a bit of the obtuse side on a topic perfectly legit.
I still want this topic to be locked but not because of the topic itself and the request but because of people like you two that cant admit that in the world there are other things then what is considered as *Normal*.
Also, we are guests but paying guests in case you forgot, and a such you have two slolutions
a) express your disappointments or desires so that in a way it can better the experience / keep people happy about what they can get in-game
b) go away
I choose the first one, maybe you should choose the second.
no one is against feedback . but why people have to post in ragei'sh whiny type way all the time?
It gets boring :p some people dont know what manners are ^^
so aslong people continue to post in a childish way , theres gona be these type of replies :P
(some people react allergetic to whining , coz it gets boring ^^ )
Yes, I am aware that same-sex couples exist. However in video game land that's only an option. Playing opposite sex characters is as simple as clicking a different button. In this game, males come with male gear and females come with female gear. Choose what's most important to you accordingly.
Again, the color of the tiny ribbon on the hat? And why force this to be about LGBT issues when it's equally annoying for everyone?
once again, saying someone is whiney is a matter of perception, I, personally didnt take it as OP being whiney. This is a Forum once again, people need to learn to stop thinking because they dont agree with something or, as I said, dont want to hear some stuff that whoever is saying it is a "wheney" post. At this rate, any request is whiney right ?
Look, some people would like all gear to be available to everyone. That's their perogative.
I think more people would prefer that both sexes have equal but different options. Because diversity adds flavor to the game.
Also, I would like to point out that in real life the sexes are naturally different AND equal. And the world is a richer place for it.
While a hat may be a bit much, I like the idea of gender locked gear. I think it would take away immersion to have a bunch of bikini/ thav bustier wearing roes running around everywhere. Of course I know other things do as well, but I am not a big fan of those things as well.
As a member of the Vegan community, I find the fact that my character is FORCED to eat Grilled sweet fish for accuracy to be obscenely offensive! This is pure discrimination!
Bikini Roegadyn already happened during 1.x (where wearing a undershirt gear was required for every gender) ^^

Well, we're paying them to continue to fuel THEIR creation enough to keep us entertained and um, you're not giving feedback, you're making a demand to unlock gender restricted clothing with the continued haranguing inside this thread and any other one that fits your "agenda"
Yea, the definition of "feedback" being used in this thread is almost akin to the marriage thread that saw multiple people calling civil rights organizations on SE way back before marriage was even implemented. It is nothing more then thinly veiled activism that carries with it the threat that if SE doesn't fall suit and give in, they will be made to care =\
Have you ever heard of Amy's Baking Company? This kind of logic is why they're out of business. "It's our creation, if you don't like it GTFO." Well, that's exactly what happened to that business. When companies don't listen to the concerns of customers, they go elsewhere. While I agree the OP going on a tangent over the color of a feather is beyond stupid, it still stands that there is gender locked gear and people take issue with it.
And what do you do for the said customers who prefer the benefits of having individual race/sex gear? You can't please both groups in this situation unless you go for a medium, in which case the issue still stands that people will complain they don't get to wear specific gear.
Oh you mean http://amysbakingco.com/ She was put out of business because her husband got sick of funding the crazy and left her. Let me make it clear, you're not on the same level with the development team and don't get to make decisions for them as to what they put into their game - Make a suggestion then leave it alone, not beat the damn thing to death till they give in.
EDIT: Like I said: Thinly veiled activism - Should be a bannable issue after a while because of the threats companies like this have to endure from people not getting what they want in a GAME =\
I just wish I had an option for the female variant of certain glamours. Like, I love how the females dragoon armor shows off their stomach, I would love to be able to wear that and show a little more skin. I like what people are saying about making a similar /visor option for things like that. I just wanna make myself sexy ~
Tbh, I'm just really annoyed over this, why on earth is the hat gender locked when the only difference is a feather? I'm in favor of just removing the gender locked gear all together in making things everything Unisex please, maybe with the additional option for like a /bellywindow or /cleavage or whatever for guys and girls as well. What I really don't get is how people come to the conclusion that gender/race locking anything makes players look more unique >_> Limiting options does not lead to more unique looks, just more money spent on fantasia lol.
I would not care if it were genderlocked or not, but i would love more glamour stuff for males.. maybe some of the more modern clothes like FF7,8 or 10 had. Jeans, Jackets with the furry collar. T-shirts that arent baggy and fat. Shorts. Overalls. There are so many possibilities.
Squalls clothes are cool..
And its not male glamours but..
Sera from 13-2 beach outfit/Why do we not have this already??
I feel like we need a lot more glamour overall..
I know, I was half joking anyway, after the screenshots I posted on Page 2, I can hardly argue too much with your hyperbole. ;)
I don't mind gender locking as such, but I agree with thos who have repeatedly suggested that any gear that is not unizex, should come with a male and female version, like the Coatee set. Personally though, dropping the job/class restriction and making dyeable RSE are more important.
It's easier to see this concept in reverse: if everyone had access to everything exactly the same, then nobody would be unique. We would all be homogenized wearing the same gear the same way wearing the same bunny ears and doing the same sundrop dance.
If you really wanted to make you character unique, you would embrace what is exclusive to her and highlight it. For example, I'm a scholar. Two of my favorite pieces of equipment are the AF culottes and the AF2 top hat. Do I play other classes besides scholar: yup! But I want these items to stay unique to my scholar because they're iconic and set that job apart. Similarly, you play a female Miqo'te, right? Your racial skirt is AWESOME - I wish I could have it. But I play a lalafell, I get dumb white bloomers instead. But if I could wear the Miqo'te racial skirt on a lala, then that would be one less thing that's unique and enticing about playing a female Miqo'te. And if all jobs could wear that school-girl skirt, there'd be one less thing enticing about playing Scholar. Soon there's no reason to play one race or one job or one sex over another; there's no trade off, no real choice. We may as well not have them.
Which is a very good counterpoint. Honestly, I would be happy to see both men and women having an equal amount of gender locked gear. The women get a spring dress, the men should have an equivalent. We have this with things like the Coeurl Beach gear. I find it to be a good practice. :)
I gave up waiting for them to make more male gear/at least make hats unlocked for both.
