Skills you never use

Yeah Hide is trash in most of the content. I mean you can use it during dungeon runs but you have to be sure to remain close to mobs and to not aggro an extra where can't use the ability.

There is a small, very small window where could possibly forgoe a Suiton for hide and then use TA from that and are free to cast something else. Did I mention how small that window was?

Has anyone posted Foe Requiem yet? :^)

Silence, Stun, Heavy, Bind, Pacification.

OK while the skills associated with these abilities have value and are often used as a "dps increase" I would say all the above effects are largely worthless.
Think there's maybe 3 occasions I've actually "needed" blunt arrow to silence anything.

I never use dissipation unless I want to sacrafice eos to appease the rng gods.

One of the choices in FFXIV I've always been slightly disappointed in is the limit of the effectiveness(mostly all of them) of the buff/debuff skills in game.

2.0 held such promise, too... Apparently coordinating Silence on High Voltage was too much for this playerbase though, now ADS and High Voltage are jokes, and we're stuck getting something crappy like boring old Faust instead...

Dissipation, I stopped raiding as a Scholar and outside of raids, it was very little use.
Wide Volley, it's the same potency as Quick Knock, but more TP intensive, I took it off my bar.
Surecast, bit too finicky for my liking.
Shukuchi, I only use it to throw my Doton's around and impress people.
Wardens Paeon, even in normal content I still don't use it.
Piercing Talon/Throwing Daggers

I won't add One-Ilm Punch/Hyoton/Sleep/Repose/Shadowbind/Lethargy because they have uses in PVP and older content (lethargy in T5 for the dreadknights is a good use)

I definitely remember the last time I used Hyoton.
I was waiting for the party to pull Tioman and I was prepping Huton...then suddenly the boss is racing towards me. Oops.

BLM skills that dropped off at some point.

Surecast, Sleep, Blizzard 2, Lethargy, Freeze, Hawkeye, Virus?, Ruin.

Some skills just are borderline useless or PvP exclusive. In PvP I just exclusively use Freeze, Sleep and Lethargy. Healers get better use with Surecast then a BLM ever will. And Surecast only stops damage from a interrupt. Knockback and para/petrify all interrupt.

I really never find a good use for Cure 3. The situation required for it to be of optimal use just doesn't happen often. There's so rarely people stacked up in a singular spot that require such intense healing.

Cure 3 is the most useful skill for Thordan EX and A3S. I take it you haven't done these fights yet?

I have not. But still, it's pretty limited in use if it's only good for 2 fights.

Since the topic is "Skills you never use", not "Skills that are useless".

I actually find it useful for just about any fight that has large party damage everyone knows about in advance. Primal's mega attacks are a big example... or cases where the whole party needs to jump down a hole. Granted, this does require that the party actually have a brain and group together rather than running around like a chicken with its head cut off all the time.

limited, yet extremely useful and you'll be thankful you have that spell

To let you know OP, feint is best in PVP, otherwise worthless. However, the other three are excellent in "situations." Keen flurry is great to mitigate stuff like prey or anything physical. Helps healers bunches. Piercing talon is great for hitting something far away, like in Thordan you have TP for days. If you're not in the middle of a combo and have no closers available, Piercing Talon is the answer. This is great when grabbing second set of towers in Thordan. Lastly elusive jump is an amazing gap closer and if you're not using it, you're not being the best you can be :P

Do not dare to do that, especially with BFB (UNLESS HEALER SAYS IT IS OKAY). What he meant was there are some unavoidable AoE attacks that are physical, like earth shaker in bahamut. In those situations you use keen flurry

I find that people scramble as soon as the damage goes out, leaving little time to get out an effective cure 3, in such a case i usually have divine seal and medica 2 primed.

There's actually many many more fights it's good for (It was the go-to AoE cure for the majority of coil in 2.0), but all that content is outdated now.

Cure 3 can be useless with pugs who dont stack for heals. Its amazing in Thordan Ex though.

You should be pre-casting it so it lands just after the attack and before people move.

Shadowbind except PVP, Wanderer's Paen and Wide Volley except really really really random ocasions when tank is moving the add/boss and I need to AoE already.
