Honestly, i'd hope any endgame content from this point on (WITH SMALL EXCEPTIONS) will be instanced. Competing with chinese gil farmers was the absolute worst part of FFXI.

Having some zones that are Sky/Sea reminiscent implemented would be the best thing I could imagine happening in FFXIV (In my opinion of course) They are by still the best experiences I've ever had in an MMO.

yeah what this dude said, loved sky. was something we could do like all week long and i enjoyed it the whole time. lots of nm's, farming, excitement. danger of deaths, lots of sneaking and invis. lots of party action, competition at times and most of all great drops from great fights that were all challenging and fun.
and would kill for cop like mission story too ...ty.
iam not gonna argue with you about the obvious but since your post is vague and you haven't played outside of ffxi then iam gonna mention 1 idea: instanced raid/dungeon is much better then open world simply because it saves you time,making party's in the get to go. etc etc and the pro list goes on. taking idea,s from xi is seriously making the game go down to the gutter, period.
you are making example,s based on assumptions? boy... i could swear that announcement,s from the 2 gralean commanders is more reliable then what SE announce.
instances are usually pre-defined, do this, do that, narrow path type areas.
so it ends up being very repetitive just like darkhold runs are.
this isnt really a problem since if you like fast paced adrenaline rush type gameplay then this is great.
however the way sky was played was much slower pace and it wasnt like there was a set route... you could pretty much do what you felt like without feeling rushed.
and if i liked it... and apparently a few others liked it, why is it such a bad idea to take idea's from? i dont understand your logic.
Lol, im not making too much assuption in what i said, or why didnt you post about hamlets defense or dungeons that i said, you already know im not that wrong, ok i played FFXI for 5 years, then i left for school issues and then played WoW for 3 years and made endgame and left before last expansion, i tried Aion but didnt like it that much, so yeah i played both sides of games, what i can tell you is yes instance raids are good but they become boring really quick, i prefer FFXI content because you had a lot more stuffs to do than in WoW, in Wow you had to get just to to thenew boss dynamic and that was it, in FFXI you had pretty nasty NM's that needed a lot more strategy, besides you had to get some items to be able to fight against those or complete a chain of quest to be able to get there in the first place.
Im not saying go doit exactly the same, but take the best of the ideas and start from that to improve it and make something unique, so yeah after seeing the rank r45+ dungeon i have to say [Thanks for the offer but i'll have to pass] and yeah WoW has some good ideas too, but i would like something like instance raid 30% open world, quest chains and fights 70%
