Is not just about crystals, the most important thing is the person itself.
Maybe just maybe, the firsts warriors of light were the strongest ones, and on each WoL generation no one were as stronger as them, not until now.

That in and of it's self is what makes me think it's true. We are THE FIRST warriors of light to have this much power since the very first ones. We're the first in a long time to be an actual risk and possible the 1st EVER to discover how to kill them. We are Encroaching on the power of the Gods where as The First Warriors of light in my scenario became the Twelve and were possibly the ones who sealed Zodiark to begin with, So if we too become gods in our own right as the twelve did, then that could almost guarantee Zodiark Never awakens again. Even more so if we kill the Ascians off once and for all.
The big "OMG We got to stop this man/woman" that Elidibus is having right now is because we've broken the mold and gotten more powerful than any of the ones to rise since Hydaelyn started weakening.
Tl:dr
We're so OP that we are the most powerful since my theoretical Twelve and thus we gotta Die before WE become Gods and make Zodiark impossible to wake.
That's... actually something that hadn't crossed my mind before.
Assuming the Ascians have been the players behind every Umbral Era (perhaps after the first ending the Age of Gods?), they should have theoretically dealt with Warriors of Light and stronger Crystals of Light. However, does a Crystal of Light indicate you are a recipient of the Blessing of Light? Unlikely, given Ysale possessing a Crystal and the Echo-- but Midgardsormr wasn't bothered by her when she visited the Keeper, meaning she probably lacked the Blessing. Minfilia and Krile are two other Echo-capable people who, as far as we know, do not possess a Crystal of Light. We should be the only person who possesses both (assuming they're still two distinct things, which is muddled at best); the best evidence of this would be Midgardsormr's shock/indignation that Hydaelyn bequeathed us both Gifts. Midgardsormr, at the very least, should be a credible source given his lifespan and connection to Hydaelyn. After he sealed our Blessing, our Echo persisted. We understood Nabriales when Moenbryda did not. Not a single beastmen needed translation-- our babel fish remained intact. (Though how our Blessing of Light shielded the Rising Stones from Nabriales I've yet to even have the faintest of guesses.)
So now we have the idea that our character is unique among the Echo users with our ability to materialize multiple Crystals of Light (a whole set!)-- there isn't much else we can say holds us apart from them aside from martial prowess. It's possible the other Warriors of Light in ages past hadn't been quite the "perfect storm" we have been. It's also possible that Hydaelyn has weakened herself repeatedly through the ages and instead of trying to stall and preserve the Light, she aims to destroy the Dark. Putting all her eggs in one basket (us) for once instead of sitting around and hoping the Ascians will stop meddling with Her children. Perhaps Hydaelyn has more in common with Nidhogg than we previously believed and sought to draw out the conflict and punish the Dark-- though this is a very unlikely possibility imo.
Though, listening to Answers with a warlike Hydaelyn in mind doesn't seem totally impossible...just improbable.
An easier solution is that, like Kaiser-Ace said, we're simply the first Warriors to figure out how to kill them thanks to our Sharlayan allies endlessly studying the esoterics of aetherphysics and history. The Ascians' newfound mortality probably was something of a shock to them.
Another important point is who doles out the title "Warrior of Light"? We first receive it from the leaders of the Eorzean Alliance don't we? An honorary title of sorts that we are friend to them now as those who fought at Carteneau (even if some of are the exact same person). In the beginning, Hydaelyn calls us 'crystal bearer,' 'bringer of light,' and such in the beginning. It's possible Hydaelyn's chosen aren't "warriors of light" until they succeed in combating Darkness. So the relative power of the Warrior isn't as important as the power of the adversary they bested, I feel.
I'm surprise this hasn't crossed my mind yet. But "bringer of light" can be associated with Lucifer. I wonder what Hydaelyn will do once learn the truth and/or defy her?
I think that one is reaching a bit too far through Earth-lore. Though I don't think she's purely good, I also don't think the WoL are the bad guys.
Holy hell, Rocl! Listening to it with that mindset is actually really powerful. I totally can see Hydaelyn throwing it all on the table and saying "This is war now, Zodiark."
I hope there are lots of Miqo'te there and definitely any new area is always welcomed by me for the pure sake of seeing more gorgeous content in this game. It also has rich history and story line potential I would gobble up like a fiend of course.
I really want to do to Doma btw! /poke SE pls kthnx
It'd be pretty interesting if we are assisting the resistance, but then it turns out a good chunk of Ala Mhigans now like Imperial rule and are opposing the resistance, and so there's now that conflict to deal with, which will be cool to explore what it's like under Imperial rule.
I'd prefer it if the story was that liberating Ala Migo was simply a byproduct of our fight with the Empire, rather than any specific desire to liberate their country. Then once that's all done, we can move somewhere really interesting in 5.0, like the Imperial continent, or Thavnaria.
Have we all forgotten that the Manderville family are from Ala Mhigo?
The only problem that the hildi quests have nothing to do with the mainstory. A real character that I seem almost everything have forgotten is Gundobald, he currents leads little ala mhigo and has a big position on the resistence. I suspect that he may have a big role on 4.0
Have I missed some announcements, or why is everyone talking as if it's a matter of fact that 4.0 will lead us to Ala Mhigo? o.O
Because on 3,0 there couple details that may us speculate that 4.0 could be ala mhigo, specialy beacuse some cutscenes on 3.1. Also beacuse Ala Mhigo and its region, is the only place on Eorzea that cannot go yet, so we think that before going to a new continent it would be logic if we fist complete the one we are on. Aldenard and Limsa's isle( Eorzea )
In addition to Ala Mihgo's region of Gyr Arbania (probably butchered that spelling) there's Also Xelphatol that lies between there and Courthas. So between the two, they'd cover the last areas of Eorzea meaning we'd have retaken all of Eorzea for the Grand Company Allience.
Also iirc, Limsa Lominsa is on the Isle of Vyldabran (again butchered the spelling)
I hope your idea is true. It would certainly make sense given the Garleans would be seen as liberators by a populace tired of the excesses of the old rulership. Furthermore, it's more interesting story-wise.Quote:
As for Ala Mihgo, the fault on its conquest lies with the Ala Mihgans themselves and their "King of Ruin" that left them wide open to invasion. So it will not surprise me at all if we get to Ala Mihgo and everyone there is perfectly happy with the Garlen Occupancy and doing better than when they were assimilated. Thus dousing the hopes and dreams of people like Ilberd (Who I still intend to hunt down and kill) as their hopes for a "Free" Ala Mihgo turn out to be their own twisted desires projected on people who neither miss nor want the old ways.
Man, as a fan of Ala Mhigo, this thread makes me sad. Not a lot of sympathy for the resistance, I see.
Both Minifilia and her father, Warburton, are Ala Mhigan, though it's more of an influence on Warburton than anyone. Warburton was not a fighter, to our knowledge, as he was killed by a goobbue, and he was subtle enough to play spy for the Resistance. There's also Professor Erik who, while a dick, is a scholarly man who acknowledges the folly of the overzealous Ala Mhigan resistance and seems to have a low opinion of both religion and warfare (though he finds them fascinating and entertaining subjects in a scientific sense).
Also, Ala Mhigo looks like this:
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20130901034308
So I'm pretty hype.
Now that I've had some time to think on it...the Warring Triad, we HAVE to deal with it before 4.0. And once we beat them, a lot of aether will return to the land...what if the Ala Mhigans try to do what Wilred did, and attempt to summon Rhalgr, as well as other beastman tribes of that area that have survived the Garleans also going for theirs? With those problems all coming up close together it would give us a great entry point since the Garleans probably won't be keeping quite as good a lookout on the borders.
However, this would also put us at odds with the Mhigans because we can't just let them summon Rhalgr, and in fact may put us in a few enemy mine situations with the Garleans. By the end of 4.0 we may kick them out of the city of Ala Mhigan, but for 4.1-onwards we'll have to deal with them AND the Ala Mhigans who would resent us for stopping the summoning of Rhalgr.
Had a good chuckle at how openly you admit your defeat at spelling the place names.
Perhaps some middle ground, where there are pockets of content and discontent regarding the Imperial rule leading to friction, support for the resistance (I should do the 3.1 story for some decent context), and tales of the good ol' days of the Fists of Rhalgr could lead to Rhalgr's summoning.
Even if the Ala Mhigans do summon Rhalgr (pls no) I don't see the majority of the populace being for this resurrection. It would be interesting, to see how the different factions present in such a political hotbed would react to that event, and I think it would add dynamism and a feel of uncertainty for the players as we progress through it.
Also consider that Ala Mhigo has been under Imperial occupation for about two or so decades. That's more than enough time for a entire generation to grow up under Garlean rule and culture. For all his imperialistic tendencies, Gaius was apparently a decent governor; enough that he could afford to leave and try his luck on the rest of Eorzea, while the rest of the Empire was distracted by the succession crisis.
The weirdest thing would be for us to go to Ala Mhigo and suddenly the whole city rises up in revolt as if the take over took place last year.
Mostly I just don't want the story to be as simple as going to every region and making it 'better'. It's why I'm hoping that Ishgard won't be perfect after we ultimately take our leave of the place - because a society is infinitely more interesting when there's internal conflict, strife and scheming. I don't want the Warrior of Light to be a plot device that completely erodes any and all morally grey elements. A large part of Ishgard's charm is their overzealous nature - and whilst they may no longer be at war with Dragons outside of Nidhogg's brood I don't want them to just suddenly start working well with the rest of Eorzea.
Lets be honest, where has the warrior of light gone where everything is perfect when we leave? Even the main three city states are a constant struggle. Ul'dah is just the best example.
One of the things I was wondering about is if we head to Ala Mhigo, what's the new race going to be? And then I wondered if Hilda was our sneak-preview for the new race, and we're not actually getting a new race, we're getting half-breeds.
And then I remembered how all the half-breeds in Ala Mhigo generally came about and now I am depressed.
Given their long-term occupation by Garlemald now I would expect the city to be heavily modified with magitech and such. The Ala Mhigo we hear of is the city the refugees fled from. The Ala Mhigo we visit will be a very different place.
I'm actually excited to see it solely for the fact that it will likely mark our first direct assault on Garlean territory.
