All i can say to some is L2P.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Granted since I got my hands on some decent gear and am now whacking enemies for about 30-50 damage per attack at 24, soloing has become more of a chore and group play has been given a hefty dose of steroids, making a shit-load of progress in contrast to playing solo. It's a load of shit, I say, since my odds of partying up with people are slim at best, mainly because people are too busy with their own LS's or trying to down Ifrit at the moment. Just like every other MMO I've played before: I've been left to fend for myself. I read the announcement that things will still be changing over the next year, and I do hope that the solo-play aspect will be revived, regardless of the compromise.
However, like I've said in countless posts before: Being able to avoid all the elitist pricks (Particularly those who have polluted your thread with such degenerate filth) is definitely a plus. Thanks to a majority of these bastards - devs and players alike - I've been forced to re-roll as a Conjurer to compliment my brother's Gladiator, another god damn chore I don't have any time in my life to invest into. Don't get me wrong, I'm so thrilled that the rest of these assholes have all the time in the world to band as a collective of pricks and plow through leveling, gear-farming, and NM slaughtering at light-speed, but the fact that I've been forced to labor through such menial tasks once more makes me wonder what the future holds for SE when they favor one fanbase over another - namely those who have the time and money to invest into them.
I care not for leaderboard statistics, excessive hoarding of supplies and gil, or collecting aesthetically pleasing attire and weapons. The core element of every Final Fantasy game concocted thus far that has enticed me was, and always will be, the storyline. In contrast to say World of Warcraft, XIV and XI engaged me much more directly rather than being a passive placeholder in the grander scheme of characters from previous installments in the franchise (Namely having to run around, escorting NPCs and having them engage in dialogue supposedly entailing an epic battle between the two, but forcing you to do all the dirty work -CoughCough-Illidan-CoughCough-). However, if things persist in this fashion - making XIV more about being the top dog or earning bragging rights in a pixelated alternate reality - than the story and ease of progression, I can only see the Final Fantasy franchise being a haven for fanboys, fangirls, trendies and elitists alike which - like Activision has done with the Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty franchises - only result in mediocre products released in yearly installments, oversaturating the market and constant trolling on various social networks.
All the while, money will flow like wine into their coffers and the beautiful art form that was once Final Fantasy will only become a hollowed husk and an aesthetic abomination.
I guarantee you that following this post I'll be trolled by a bunch of elitists ignorant of quality of a great game, or those who simply do so for the sake of it (Jaded dissenters or degenerates, take your pick), so for those who seek to incite such idle banter: I say fuck yourselves.
Addendum:
In reference to the damage I've been doing during solo play: It's actually more between 50 and 60 and my critical hits consistently go for at least 300.
I welcome the changes, although they've been needed for about a year now. I'm willing to wait and see how it all turns out. Until then I'll continue to enjoy playing this with friends and experience firsthand how it will all evolve come Oct 2012 to March 2013.
Patience is a virtue.
SE next some rage quits and talks openly about how gimp they were, just don't listen.
Let me get this straight... you have 765 forum posts in the Official forums... giving you opinions about the game... and your highest job is Gladiator 28?
The fact that the game is becoming subscription-based will help filter out all these silly F2P people, and maybe we'll get some real ideas from people who actually play the game.
All I have to say to this thread is.... UGH
Good luck to you and I hope you find that game that suits you best.
FF XI-2 is not coming
SE is working hard for FF XIV-2 which is coming next year ^^
I like poppy and sesame seed bagels. Slightly toasted.
This is a MMO, etc. If you want to play solo, play something else.
I've been complaining about the shift to FFXI-2 ever since the auto-attack announcement.
I wasn't wrong.
It's continuing to turn into a clone with every single patch. Unique features of FFXIV are being removed and it's being converted into what it's like in FFXI.
I logged on after 1.19 for 10 minutes. I haven't been on since.
The game is ruined for me, and I really have been wanting to love it ever since I first played in closed beta. What a goddamn shame.
Why do you guys have a fetish on being unique. Yes FFXIV tried to be unique, but they FAILED. Is that so hard to understand? The game was a mess (still is a mess). They are trying to fix it and they are going to pull it off by the looks of it, but they HAVE to let go some of the uniqueness to achieve that. Stop burying your head in the sand and face it.
Really...
I didn't bother to read more then the first sentence of the OP, but I'm guessing they're crying because this game is "becoming to much like FFXI"...
Really? Left and right I hear either "This games becoming to much like WoW" or "This games becoming to much like FFXI!" FFXIV isn't becoming like anything. Final Fantasy 14, is a game that's based off the Final Fantasy world, so of course they are going to consider adding things such as CLASSIC Final Fantasy jobs (these jobs were in place before 11).
They are trying to make FFXIV into a good game, and adding elements from some popular games that have been working (just because they are adding a non-server specific party search, everyone thinks the sky is falling and calling this game a WoW clone) .
Short little rant, I'm done, just annoying reading this stuff all the time.
<sarcasm>"They actually implemented the changes to combat that they have been talking about for months and now I can't kill things 12 levels higher than me because I don't understand what those changes were or why they were made. I QUIT!!!!!!"</sarcasm>
See ya, OP!!!
Solo'ing is harder now for certain classes/playstyles. Not impossible. But especially at lower levels it is very harder where all of your dmg/hp/everything has been cut to a fraction of what it was. Where as higher levels are better off now eh?
Crafting at low levels i've noticed is especially much more of a chore now.
FFXI-2. I want it.
i said 2 level not 12. and yes i should be able to kill stuff higher then me, maybe not 10lvl+ but mobs that are 5 lvl above my own should be difficult and challenging but not impossible. Hell as a tank i should be able to take on 2 mobs with 5 lvl above me and still finish the fight with 30-20% of my hp left.
I think everyone needs to stop bitching tbh, because the revamp looks AMAZING and more than I was expecting from the Final Fantasy XIV team. I had no idea any of this was going on behind the scenes and I'm just in awe.
I am also SO happy to hear that seamless areas are being abolished. I'd prefer more compact, dynamic, themed zones over huge spaces of nothingness any day - or you know, there's a tree, there's a tree, there's a rock, there's a valley, there's a rock, there's a tree... Do I care about this? No. Zone changes will never become out-dated. I mean, can you imagine something like Mass Effect 2 without zone changes? I don't want to even think about that.
SE has lost a whole load of money with this game. You can't honestly expect them to not change the game entirely. The whole game has been one of the biggest embarrassments Square Enix has ever had to deal with. Anyone who doesn't like it can leave the game frankly, if you're simply refusing to accept that the game needs to change so SE can actually make some money for the game you're playing for free.
Good on you Square Enix!
P.S. Every ****ing MMO has auto-attack, get over it.
I can feel the collective butthurt oozing from this thread.
So much whining, it makes me recoil in disgust. Like when someone scratches a plate with a fork.
The new concept art and screenshot looks amazing!! I'm really looking forward to the new 2.0 patch. But I think my friends won't be satisfied enough to start paying next month. I guess I'll have to hold on and hope they want to rejoin when it gets released.
I belive a video, showing a sneak peek of the new 2.0 patch, would convince more players to pay for what is coming.
Yup 2.0 looks breath taking... that's what it should have looked like at release. But no, i won't be paying for the game next month that's for sure. I understand why they want to start making people pay tho' as this much work is not free. They are basically making a new game from scratch.
If the OP is talking about Gladiator - they can't solo shit right now. They hit like they are attacking with a wet paper towel. I totally understand where this guy is coming from; balance is a joke at 1.19, and 1.19a not addressing it at all was a mistake.
Oh stop complaining,
Did u see male miqote picture, Did you?!
*going bak to drooling*
One thing everyone needs to learn about square, never ever get your hopes up. As they usually crush them with disappointment the past few years. Don't get me wrong loving the latest patch...really, and I'm excited about 2.0 but not expecting much. Why you ask? Just my recent history with their games, I mean for example, FFXIV when we first saw it, it looked amazing and look how that turned out, although if this patch delivers I think it was worth it being so terrible from launch, as it was our bitching that produced the "gem" in development.
Another example would be FFXIII, the game looked so amazing, but when I actually got my copy and played, let's just say I was less than happy with my purchase. Of course, this is just my opinion but all I'm saying is this, stop hyping 2.0 you're only setting yourselves up for disappointment. I really hope it turns out well, but with their recent history I'm on the fence until I see it.
Cant remember where i read it but the devs have mentioned that things have changed, you need to fight mobs your level or lower. i'm using my glad with outdated gear and i'm having no probs getting a level or two an hour of very casual play. i'm sorry you feel this way but read my sig...
