what he complains is for low level.....
Yeah the XP has exploded since this patch...so easy to level. And those whining about how hard it is...equip the proper gear...and maybe add a few materia. It helps the lowbies out a ton! Content is great stop whining already. Learn to play a proper game.
It's not bad for low level...this is making it so low level can't be using level 50 gear. You gotta use gear your level and repaired gear. It's not in the least bad...imagine playing a game within your bounds. They pushing gear into required levels anyways...this is just to get people out of the mentality of I'm level one I'm gonna wear level 50 cause people can make and give to me.
Can't comment on the patch because I'm still trying to download it. I'm really thinking about deleting the game. If they refuse to fix the patcher then i really just can't be bothered with it.
I am 100% sure that you can still level at level 20 in a day which is still very fast leveling and no, levelin to 80 in a week like in some other MMOs is just sad, they might as well give you your character at max level...
I may be new to the game seeing as I started about a month ago, but combat seems to have taken a turn for the worse...i've only had experience with the previous patch, but i prefered combat before this one. It seems like a bad idea to me to focus gameplay so heavily on groups when the game is pretty much socialy dead.
At its current rate (so a level one character starting today, post patch), if going solo, theres absolutly no way i can see you getting to 20 in a day unless your playing 12 or more hours. Especially without help. Your dreaming.
The rage forums on hp and xp levels post patch should be pretty biblical.
this patch is great for people that have been stuck in there 30's and 40's for the past few months and the higher you go it seems the more exp you can reel in.
However Low Level EXP comes painstakingly slow. battleleves for L10s are fucking joke you cant even do the ones with Grouped mobs solo on one star with the proper gear. sad part is if you cant even do your leve's what are you supposed to do. at L10 that's all you've got for content.
As for why the Hammering on New Guys like a 10 gill Whore. my guess on this is SE thinks all the FFXIV Vets are up there in the levels and that the true new players wont know what they had missed. if i had to start all over there's no way in hell i would touch this game with a 10 malm Poll.
Youre doing it wrong I suppose, do you want to know what slow is?Quote:

Having aquired the 500 enemies slain achivement before getting the 15 level achievment.
12 hours is nothing for having gained 20 levels in the game, although I am 100% sure that you can get there faster MUCH FASTER, also try to party, or quit the game if you dont like it or you cant play it.
The game is fine.
Game is fine. In fact, it's bloody great now.
Still another 50% to go.
Exciting.
First off, sarcasm is not needed. Second, I never said that. Don't put words in my mouth.
I'm all for group play, in fact I prefer it. However this game isn't social at all right now, especialy to new players and I believe that something needs to be done about this lack of player interaction one way or another.
A fresh character won't come anywhere close to 20 in one day. I just got done ranking LNC, PUG, and THM to 9 and the only reliable way I could get steady XP was to kill the R1 Coblyns until about rank 3/4, then go kill R2-3 Coblyns until about rank 6, and finally I would do 6-9 on rank 4-5 Chigoes. I did 4 rank 1 leves on the PUG. I'm not sure how long it took, but it was longer than 2 hours.
There was downtime even when I outranked the respective mobs by 2-3 levels. I tried killing a rank 10 Marmot as a rank 9 PUG and it nearly had my ass. It's not an L2P issue because killing a stationary mob and only having 3 or 4 abilities isn't exactly rocket science. I was wearing my weathered stuff the whole time, but what do you expect a new player to do? Spend the very little gil he gets from the first two storylines on what will probably turn out to be 3 pieces of gear he'll have to replace in 3 or 4 levels? Seems a bit unrealistic and for a new guy, it's pretty damn frustrating.
The pacing of combat just sucks in my opinion.
I don't want handouts or to be level capped in two weeks, but is it really going to hurt to let people solo mobs a bit faster for a bit better XP? Half the reason I moved here from XI was because when I played XI it was a massive grind, and this game was supposed to be more casual friendly, but it seems like they're moving away from that. I really have no problem with grouping, but I do have a problem when grouping is so vastly superior to solo for leveling my character I feel frustrated even trying to go do something solo. I think there should absolutely be forced grouping at endgame for certain activities and even a part of leveling should include grouping, but I don't like the idea that a player who wants to solo is so severely hampered from the start.
Sorry for the wall o' text.
The way they have moved and changed the mobs you need to kill mobs around your same level. They are beginning to set off level progression areas moving section by section on the map as you level up. So you tell me if this is bad? Level 20 killing a level 22 getting 350-400 XP? For all you whiners out there I grinded 48-50 on 50SP mobs back in the day and I did it in short order. At the pace of 350ish XP per kill with this current patch and no fatigue cap you can get to 25 in 1 day easily at level 1 if you tried. Please learn to play the game. It's not a mad point and clicker...learn your gear limits, learn your skills, learn what mobs to kill. Killing a really weak and or a really high mob will not yield especially fabulous results if you soloing. Pace it..and you'll succeed.
I was a new player in this game too you know, when it was MUCH harder to rank up, when you gained SP with each punch (if you where lucky), when you had to deal with Fatigue, so I feel no sympathy.
Just learn to play like everyone else, do your leves and party with others, there are plenty of ways to get to 20 in a day and thats fast, period.
Don't know what they doing with their leves...if you do them right they should yield a good 5-10,000 at low levels. You should get to level 7 by the time you complete 8 leves. 10 if you got lucky on the leves available. And 2 hours to do leves? Seriously? If I soloed I can do 8 leves in an 45 minute to an hour that's with dying a lot along the way.
anyone know the recipe for All-purpose Red Dye?
There's no MMO out there in existence that doesn't require some kind of grinding. There's no RPG out there that I can remember ever playing that didn't whip your butt at some point and you'd have to run around and grind a few levels...like serious? If all you have to do is complain about a game why play it? If it's not fun to you go elsewhere...let the people who are actually enjoying the game have their fun instead of putting everything down because you don't like it. Sorry you'll never like everything you look at the big picture and the sum of the parts not bits and pieces that are irrelevant.
Grind doesn't have to feel like a grind. If combat or crafting or whatever you happen to be grinding is engaging and rewarding enough then it can actually become fun!
I know this will come to a shock to some community members, but not all criticism is horrible. If it hadn't been for very vocal criticism when this game launched we'd all be paying for it now, and who knows how that would have ended up. I like this game quite a bit, but that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore things that I don't enjoy. Forums are a place to discuss good and bad. It can't always be sunshine and rainbows.
I thought this game was meant to be trying to be better. I just logged on and I can honestly say I'm not really impressed at the "new and improved" combat system.
Learn what the changes are b4 you judge. Most of the changes are just now utilizing older systems. Like broken gear actually is broken now till you repair. Gear needs to be at your level to equip they are changing gear to required levels and losing optimal gear. The old gear is obsolete you need to change it out. What don't people get about they are essentially making a whole new game...so move it or move out. Too many complaints and most of the complainers don't seem to have read the last months worth of dev posts that outlined all the changes. These are wonderful changes. If you can't see that this isn't your game. Please go elsewhere and stop trolling.
Some people won't like anything unless its made specifically for them.
Whatever haters say... I can only say that I do LOVE this patch and I would like to thank Yoshi-P and all teams that devoted their time and effort to make FF series great again ^^
What all you high level players don't realize is the impact this patch has had to all new / low level players. We can't just replace our gear with not dated gear because we don't have the crafting class or gil to do so.
Some of us (using myself as an exampel) only have 1 - 2 hours a day (tops) to play. Spending 30 - 60min on getting a group is not always an option. We can't just hook up with an imba linkshell and chain mobs for hours. Soloing was actually an option before patch 1.19 but now it's just tougher and slower. I've never wanted to get to max level within weeks but a steady leveling curve shouldn't be too much to ask for? Atm i'm level 22 grinding 20 - 24 mobs which yields me 150 - 229exp per kill. Level 24 mobs are quite hard and usually take me twice as much time to kill than level 28 - 30mobs did before the patch. Solo-leveling in this game as always been the slowest way to level but now it takes twice as much time. Really a pitty and I hope SE will tweak this.
Lot's of great changes came with this patch. I know it hasn't been 24 hours since release and i'm sure most of us will be able to adapt to most of the changes but that doesn't mean everything is just super-duper and we aren't allowed to critize parts of it.
They are not discussing the bad stuff, its more like making the good stuff sound like bad stuff :)Quote:

Let me make this short and sweet- No. I started a new character on a new server 3 days ago and all my jobs are 24 and under. Since the patch, I have had absolutely no issue getting SP. I would say I have experience on my side, but the grinding tactics have changed and we're ALL in the same boat. Use your head.
See, what I fear right now is that enough people will complain about it before we adapt that they'll take this great direction away and all we're left with is easymode again. I fear it so much it makes me cringe.
Yet another edit after I reread your second paragraph- I have a couple suggestions. After a couple weeks people will have adapted and you might be able to join a static for those hours you are able to play. Or, you might get lucky and get a quick pickup of a party of 2-4 to duo or light party mobs. If that doesn't work, you'll have a buffer of leves. All else fails, research some mobs and ask questions of those who had more time to research them and you may find something easier to kill that gives better EXP.
People just need to learn how to play, that the end of it.
I'm personally a fan thus far. I haven't had a shot at the new low level dungeon, but I can say that leveling with a friend at the lower levels is pretty fun with multiple enemy claiming and crowd control abilities actually meaning something. We can actually use some interesting strategies, and if we aren't careful we can get our asses handed to us on a two-star leve. I love it! Can't wait to get ma bird later. The addition of tutorials to the opening was handled pretty well I thought, although the opening battle on the Limsa freighter could use some more sprucing up I think, even though the NPCs not only give you tips on combat AND actually take part in it.
Also did they say they were making changes to pugilist animations? Haven't noticed anything just yet.
The thing that really has me confused about this patch is people are complaining that mobs are harder to fight.
I always found it fundamentally weird that I could kill mob 5-7 levels higher than myself Solo. A mob the same level as me should be an even match, as much chance to lose as to win, anything higher should be harder.
Instead of hitting twice and having one damage number appear, now there are 2 numbers lol
This is indeed a great patch I have enjoyed all of it so far ^_^
