The old material recipes are being updated to be in line with the new ones though. The old recipe thing is so people can get rid of their "parts" type items by making stuff out of them. BTW great sig lol

Frankly, with 1.19 scheduled to go live in just a few days, it's highly unlikely there will be any substantial change to what's been published.
Nope, the new recipes will co-exist with the old recipes, however the issues with the raw > base mat recipes is that they're not "new", but rather "updated", as is listed in the post. You can still make them walnut masks from those walnut lumbers, but those logs are only gonna give you one, instead of 4 lumbers post 1.19.
First, thank you. I was inspired just a minute ago and I thought it applied well.
The recipes listed are the "new" recipes. The old materials and recipes will still be in the game along side the new ones til 1.20. Right? Just want someone who remembers this being said a few weeks ago and that I'm not cray-cray.
yes, the old recipes will stay in place until after 1.20, but on recipes like where the yarn is being adjusted from 12-1 when you make yarn you will only make 1 after 1.19. that is, unless they changed it.
thank goodness i did my leatherworker before this patch.....farming 500 skins for those 2000 leather was horrible, but whoever does it next gets to farm 2000 skins for those same 2000 leather.
well for instance, the fact they only listed 1-2 colors per equipment. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to dye them more than just 1-2 colors. Like someone said, it would just make a very large post even more large.
Are.. at least.. i hope so... (X.X)
Yoshi: "The 1.19 patch was actually delayed because it took us 3 days just to write up the changes to recipe list"
Geez I feel sorry for the guy that had to type all of that out.
I was always confused by canvas clothing. I mean, the notebook I use to write down recipes is canvas, I wouldn't particularly like to wear it...
Fingers crossed that the grade 6 cloth is silk!
how do you figure? now 1 skin gives you 5 synths....after it gives you 2. i'm not sure what math you are using but 5>>>>>2
you take 1 skin now and you get 1 synth to make the 4 leathers and you turn around and use those 4 leathers individually.......that is 5 synths.
after you take 1 skin and turn it into 1 leather on the first synth and that is only 1 synth .... that adds up to 2.
the whole point i made was that before if you got x number of synths off one item then you will need to complete x number more synths to make up for the difference. when doing low level synths such as yarn when you are making like a cowl if you are high enough to make the cowl you get no sp off the yarn. that is extra synths for no sp so you take extra mats and extra time to get the same amount of production.
yes, that's what i answered. you will still be able to use old recipes until 1.20. the thing you will want to do is do your lumber and yarn beforehand since they make multiples now and will make singles after 1.19. those aren't new recipes they are revisions so i'd imagine those changes will come on the 4th.
I'm a weaver to make clothes and i enjoy that. I dont play weaver just to hit 50 and then make money.
I just like... to make my own clothes....
I care less how how many mats it'll require, cause that give me more reason to go out and farm them and level my botanist. :)
Wish people be more optimistic...
I was gonna log on today and spend some time levelling up carpentry and alchemy...
Think I'll just... err... wait a bit longer for that ;)
Before you were making mats that you vendored to an npc for almost nothing. Now that you are capped you will buy the gear i make to level materia and with that money i'll buy more leathers to make more gear. What im trying to say is that the leveling process should pay for itself instead of making thousands of useless mats.
yes, i see where you are coming from. you don't want to look at the other end though. i did not say it was bad for the economy and i did not say that the gear will not be used. all i stated is that it will take longer post patch to reach cap than it did beforehand unless the sp is drastically changed.
nothing at all of what you have said has changed that fact. if it takes even twice the amount of materials and synths it will double the length of time to reach cap. the only way it would not is if they doubled the sp in that scenario which is exactly what i said.
Regarding ranking up, a lot depends on the number of items dropped per extraction. SE could well change this number, and I actually full well expect them to.
A cap of one mythril ore per extraction (as it is now) completely nullifies the point of (a) Mind stat, which affects the number of items extracted (b) abilities such as King's Yield, which increases the number of items gathered. By decreasing amount of ingredients produced from materials, this number can be increased.
Regarding the thread synths, I guess you don't remember how at release the cloth synth made one cloth for 3 yarn, 4 or 5 cotton yarns. With the reduction in the number of cloth required for finished items, it was pretty clear that a reduction in the synthesis yield was coming back.
I think the system can work out, as long as SE adjusts the gatherer drop rates appropriately.
New level up process will consist of more ingredients made, and fewer finished items. This reduces the number of finished items entering the market to something that could potentially be absorbed via conversion to materia. There are new ingredient synths that will be appropriate rank. This was promised as a part of the revamp, that ingredient synths would be similar in rank to the finished item synth rank.
No need to panic just yet.
Not only this...all pink gear are gone too. If you check linen stuff you will see only undyed, brown and blue. I just feel like quitting now...because this patch will indeed be the fall of FFXIV's "V". We will go back to the age where everyone would be dressed in red, brown , green or black.
Okay, this... makes more sense. They really need to put that in the update note regarding this. I think some people are going to get confused and turn all their nuggets into ingots then find out later they didn't need to do that and get super pissed off. Irritating SE is sometimes in their explanations.
Regarding logs :
Current system, 1 log yields 4 synths worth SP. The lumber synths are all unreasonably low rank (highest being a rank 30 synth).
New system, 1 log yields 2 synths worth SP. Both the lumber synth and the finish item synth will yield SP. This is a factor of two reduction of mats to synths.
Regarding cloth:
Old system, 2 sheepskin yields 6 fleece (via TNR), yielding 24 wool yarn. 24 wool yarn nets 24 wool cloth via 8 synths. If done right, storing up wool yarn, this can net 10 weaving synths.
New system, 4 fleece yields 2 wool yarn, which yields 1 wool cloth. Nets 3 synths per 4 materials. As a result, fleece drops off karakul should be increased.
Just a couple of examples as I see them.
Don't forget that leves will now be a much better source of SP for crafting now that you can focus on them and somewhat force that the "good" leves for your rank show up a lot more frequently because of how often the leve list will reset. There will always be an "out" for ranks even if you end up running out of mats to make finished products.
Also, with the ability to earn seals through repeatable methods, seals can be used to buy engineering manuals, reducing the time to rank by 1/3.
I believe there was some mention that the GC leves would have a separate pool of 99, so doing both GC leves and AG leves, both crafter leves, would net SP plus GC seals used when ranking crafting making items.
Less of a focus on the highly repetitive and monotonous task of "grinding" useless synths is a good step, I think.
everyone keeps quoting my posts and pointing out this or that. the only thing i stated is i was glad i ranked mine now(that is my opinion) and that ranking afterwards will take longer unless the sp was increased. don't try to turn it into something i didn't say.
Hey I hear you. I leveled alchemist just so my weaver friend would be able to make me colored cotton clothes, and later, not-pink clothes. Seriously it was like 20 pinks, 1 blue, 0 anything else.
Should be interesting to make Karakul Fleece after the update considering Karakul Skin is no longer going to be dropped from enemies.
Also, might be an oversight, but it seems buffalo leather was entirely unaffected with regards to hide -> leather. And for those without a Dodore Doublet, gonna need 2 wings now to make one doublet. Shouldn't be too bad if the new doublets are decent alternatives.
Also it is interesting to see Yellow copper ore purchasable from npc's and minable.... Yet, it makes nuggets which are irradicated o_O
*Shrugs*
