Hoping groups won't still be more orientated to "CON/ARC only!" when this comes out, but I have a sinking suspicion that still won't change =(. Just going by HP values, PGL and ARC are still pretty close and unless some of the melee gets significant damage increases (or if ifrit spams AoE every 2 seconds) ARC will still probably be the way to go. Fight still looks fun though! Just have to get hurry and get ARC up high enough so I can even try it if things turn out that way.
To the WoW posts:
It doesn't look any different from any other MMO except you can zoom so far out you can see the entire battlefield and all the crappy animations with it (making it "seem" more epic).
Looks like were in for a bunch of fun fights come .19. Meta game be damned, there's heads to be busted.
Honestly, honestly...While this news is great and wonderful, I just want them to release another "Absolute Virtue" NM that no one can kill and SE to give stupid hints on how to kill it, that way all these "its too easy" people won't have an argument anymore.
Good job SE, keep it up!
Dunno if someone has said this but the roegadyn conjurer heals the glad for 1001 hp at 53 seconds
Looks like Ifrit's AoEs hit the Arc, too. Maybe they extended the AoE range as an attempt to balance melee with ranged? Although that can be tough on DoM. Sure looks like the Roeg Conj spent most of the video dead. :p
At one point, the Arc is running around in passive with her bow unequipped. I'm going to assume she ran out of arrows. ;)
Just a random tidbit everyone probably already knew or assumed, but I didn't see posted...
At around 1:56 he uses Inferno (地獄の火炎, sometimes also translated as Hellfire or Flames of Hell).
Other attacks include Vulcan Burst, Crimson Cyclone, Hot Wind (熱風, not sure if there's a better translation for this), and Eruption.
This isn't related to the video [maybe indirectly], but if I remember correctly, doesn't Ifrit warn you not to attempt summoning other espers or else he'll kick your ass? Maybe we'll catch a cameo of others, or at least them being mentioned. =X
Ya'll know this is a storyline battle right? Not gonna be too difficult and your reward will be advancing the plot finally after a year of waiting.
That gear the GLA is wearing before he gets tele'd away looks badass.
Except that they just announced a hard mode version and its loot list here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lzi-L...layer_embedded
I gotta say this was a big relief to me after reading in the JP translation thread that Ifrit was only "pretty difficult", and the speculation in this thread based on the video. Hopefully the Hard Mode at least tops the encounters in Darkhold (I don't expect anything to blow my socks off until the battle system is complete and we have alliance content).
So there was a video on the FFXIV YouTube channel of some devs testing the livestreaming equipment.
It's since been made private, but I snagged a screenshot (linked below) revealing two interesting tidbits of information:
- The UI lock button has been changed from a star to a padlock (if that's even what the star was in the first place)
- Their test builds are called Rapture :)
