I dunno, I still wouldn't mind a little cloth covering over the chests of the men in the game! It's be silly but that one gear set, I think it's either crafted or you get it from one of the Crystal Tower raids, also has it!

I think it would lose a lot of the aesthetic if you completely removed the top! It dies a lot of the outfit together. :D
I support this !
I agree about the top and I would have made it more like my beloved taffeta shawl but I was trying to make the translation of the outfit as faithful as possible. If you check out the original pictures the top actually has a lot of ripples of tension in the fabric, and is only smooth on the outermost part of the breasts. Since guys don't have a ton of fluff on their chests there wasn't an easy way to draw the ruching (sp?) without it looking even more awkward so I kept the ripples at their logical source along the edge seams and smother where the fabric would be pulling against his pecs. ^_^
Thank you for the feedback!
I will be trying to design alternative top options to inspire the devs (is that who handles that stuff?) so keep an eye out today! I agree that the way I've drawn the top looks a bit funny (something I attribute to my artistic skills rather than actual design flaw).
Thank you for the cleanup! And thanks for your support guys!
That makes a lot of sense and np, I like giving positive feedback when I can. Your art work is really to the point otherwise though and considering a lot of these outfits have so many little difficult details says a lot about how observant you are as well. Keep up the good work. :)
I wish to show my support for this idea aswell! I quote myself from the thread where it was revealed that only the male outfit would be unisex.
Also guys... Just admit it... That elezen sports that dress perfectly if not better than most females. He looks fabulous and I want to order one for my miqo too!
Female master sex
I'll support this just for male Lalas to further confuse people trying to determine gender.
Eww >.>
I'm 1000% against this <.<
inb4bigot
Told you all it was touchy subject lol.
I come back and everyone's at each others necks.
Toooold you sooo.
I'm just gonna leave this here.
Not a fan of dudes in dresses. If it's an issue of equality, I'd rather SE not let girls get the male gear than to put guys in dresses.
/flameshield on
On Balmug you've already seen a million times worse.
100% Support allowing both genders to wear both sets of clothes. Please stop gender-restricting garments. Let the rabbits wear glasses.
Either male gear needs to be male only or both need to be shared. There's no reason that female gear should be exclusive while males have to share theirs. You'd think they would've learned their lesson already from the best man suit.
@OP - I'd totally rock the skirt on my soon-to-be hulking dragonman. :3
I see nothing wrong with letting guys that want to wear female clothing wear female clothing. Weather it be due to comedy (I'm looking at you, Snowman head bikini warrior), because they like the look of it, or because they are projecting themselves to the character (There are plenty of men that identify as female), giving options will never be a bad thing in my book.
Let 'em have their fun. Doesn't affect me at all.
I'm not sure I'd wear the female bunny outfit, or even this one, but it is REALLY laughably ridiculous to restrict men from wearing a garment but allow women to wear things you intended for men.
If you're going to make an item that is for one gender, then you need to make an equal and opposite article of clothing that is ONLY for the other. Letting women wear both is utter bull poop.
Essentially you're making it so that someone who plays as a female gets more for their sub fees than I do, because clothing IS content, and that content is restricted from me, purely on the basis that I chose to have a male character.
My sub fee is worth just as much as the next person's. If I want to wear a dress then you should let me.
Now, there's the argument 'well just roll a female' Well no. I don't want to spend time or money:
re-leveling on a female character
buying fantasia to make my man a woman
I could do that, yes, but the female characters don't need to re-level to wear clothes, why should I?
The female characters don't need to use fantasia to wear clothes, why should I?
If I wanted to look at a woman character model, I'd have made one. I wanted to play a male, not 'your version' of a male. I wanted to play 'a male' which is NOT defined by clothing, and if I want to wear a dress I should have the option to do so.
No matter how you look at it, or what reasoning you use it's not equality for your users. Step up your game SE.
Gimmie Gimmie!!! Would love more feminine clothing for males! The subligars and coliseum gears are my favs to use in glamours this would be right up top on my list as well.
While I would certainly never put female clothes on my male character, (even for comedy purposes), as it's frankly just weird to me, I get that there are plenty of people out there that cross-dress for various reasons, and have no issue with letting them do as they wish so long as they don't try to force it on everyone else. If some men want to put on women's clothes, let them. I agree that it's a bit discriminate that female characters can wear male clothing, and yet the reverse is considered taboo. Like I said, if they're not forcing men to dress in women's clothing, then I see no issues in letting it be an option, as it doesn't directly affect me any more than people running around in subligars does, but it does limit others from playing how they want to which is something that any RPG development team should avoid at all costs. A large portion of any good MMORPG is the actual "RP" part of that title......
Yoshi, Squeenix.........pls let me wear this
I made a new version of the top and sleeves and updated the first post!
I'll probably design more(and get around to drawing those sweet lace-up sandal things) later. If anybody has genuine advice about what they'd like to see from the top let me know! One thing I'll say is that I'm not doing a vest thing since we already have that with the unisex set.
I really can't understand why SE continues to ignore things and screw us guys over with the gear. Like, really, I see absolutely zero reason as to why all the newly announced glamours couldn't be made for both guys and girls, especially after OP's pictures.
We should be able to wear whatever we want regardless of gender. Clothing is not gendered, society just slaps a label on clothing and society is not always right. Lord of the Rings online let male characters of all races wear dresses and male and female dwarves shared the exact same character model. Eorzea should be diverse the last census had such a female character and race bias it's unreal, removing gender restrictions might even improve Fantasia sales if your only in it for the money. I think the pictures in the op look great and really emphasise the masculine physique such as the abs and biceps
There are already dresses for males...
Right now there is really one cross dress outfit each at the moment. Best man's outfit for females and that craftable dress bottom for men (no top though however...).
I mean, if people really want it, I'm sure SE will do it eventually... As they are fond of saying, "It's on the list" somewhere I'm sure. The biggest problem is that there are like 2 wireframes, a female and a male one, whatever they make that both genders can wear, they have to work twice as hard (oh wait, do lala's get their own? I forget... I know rog supposedly share with hyur or something...).
This does get asked quite a bit... I think it's more about them having lots of things they are asked to do.
The first thing that comes to mind for me is this:
When the Sailor outfit was first created, it was a male-exclusive set. However, all it took was the devs saying "aw, but females would look so cute in it too" in order to get it changed and released as dual-gender.
It is possible to change this and I wholly support changing it. It's a beautifully detailed outfit, and men are sorely lacking in their "detailed glamour" gear. All of the elements have such wonderful depth to them, it's a shame to have them restricted to only one gender.
I think the whole 'men in dresses' is more to make a point than to actually have any stylistic choices. I honestly don't believe many will choose to wear feminine outfits over the more masculine choices, so adding in support for that would only be catering to a very small number of players.
I understand the conceptual reasons behind wanting it. In this world of political correctness gone crazy, people want everything to be equal for men and women to the point where everything starts to lose its identity. The problem is that while this may work in a smaller scale, on an MMO there are too many barriers. Many countries have very different laws about what you can and cannot have, and sexuality is at the core of many of the bigger differences.
I fully support equality, but I doubt the reasons behind wanting this are the reasons being put forward. I think it would largely be used for comedic or 'shock' value than as any real attempt to be creative. There comes a point where even the most hard boiled must draw the line, and I think this is it. Ask yourself why you really want it, and be honest. Is it just for the novelty of being the next drag act or truly a desire to have a universal wardrobe?
Whatever the reasons, I doubt enough people would wear it to warrant the conversions.
In its most basic and pure form, it often breaks down to: "I like to look at my character, and I like my character to be appealing to me." Most of the reasoning I've seen against the balance of glamours has been due to personal discomfort at seeing revealing or sexualized gear on males. Such as the change to the Mobius (also SE) main character.
While some may use it for shock value, there is a group that will genuinely appreciate it. The people that wish to shock others can easily do it and will do it no matter what restrictions exist.
mens clothes are usually uni-sex, which is why some women prefer mens clothes. mens clothes generally are more inclined towards practicality, while women's clothes are generally inclined towards "women need to use make-up and sexy/cute clothes, so they will be attractive" ppl are ok with women in mens clothes, cause it's practical and neutral; there's nothing neutral about women's clothing, it's all about sex appeal.
It's just a minority of ppl that think men look good, in these women-specific clothes. If you want to wear it, by all means go ahead. But please understand you're a minority, and most ppl think it looks stupid.
devs can't make clothes for every sub-culture, and please every style. There's always gonna be ppl that complain "the majority of gamers who are mostly males, and don't like fem-looking clothes on their male characters"
so what do you think the devs are going to do? make female looking sets, for male chars, and watch the playerbase get angry cause they are forced to wear this new stupid looking end-game set? or just go with what most ppl want?
they are always weighting cost vs time, and they aren't going to spend any money or time on something that most ppl don't even like/care about.
I don't care one way or another, but i'm quite sure that if they added female dresses to male chars, there would be a bunch of ppl that would use it for fun, for a week or 2, then there would be maybe 5-/server.
They would never be forced to wear it, it's vanity gear, also men can wear dresses and long skirts already.
I don't like this. and pretty much agree with what Radacci said.
don't force that transgender stuff onto devs and people let the devs do what they please. Sex appealing clothes like the new cloths are for females should stay female only. its time and effort to make armor and stuff large amount of races and genders as it is don't need to hamper more time out of a dev cause Im a male character I should be able to wear this Well their is a Phial of fantasia for that change to a female then wear it.
People need to stop equating fictional character with real life persona.
What do you mean Sax?
Would you ask this of all the females that wanted the Gambler's outfit and/or the groom's suit?
Fair enough. Then the Sailor outfit, the best man's suit, and the Gambler's outfit should become male exclusive along with one of the new HW glamours. Some of them originally were, then people playing female characters threw an enormous fit and got them changed so they could use them as well. There have been a few tantrums about the groom's outfit too, but that one at least has remained male exclusive. Explain to me again why females should be able to wear male clothing but not vice versa. By your logic, female characters that wanted to use those glamours should have just Fantasia'd to male instead of throwing an enormous hissy until the clothes got changed to gender neutral. Yeah, that didn't happen.
Sure, but those sexy women's clothes are made to show off/enhance the female beauty, it doesn't really work on men (well that's personal preference)
There's skirts and such, that work for men as well.
(at least i got lots of guys saying: ehm you make that look good)

You do make that look good. But I rather think that like someone said a few pages back; the outfit emphasizes areas like the abs, thigh muscles, biceps. So masculine things just like feminine things.
I too am a lover of the loincloth by the way
I'm irritated that people have been bringing up issues like sexuality. A character is not an extension of the player, and the assumption that it has some baring on sexuality is bogus. It's also a hypocritical viewpoint from anyone not playing a hyur of matching gender. If people choose to clothe their male character in a skirt, all the power to them. It has nothing to do with the sexuality, masculinity, or femininity of the person playing.
Also, people keep saying dress. It's not a dress, at most it's a skirt and even then it's more inline with the flames loincloth, which looks great on both male and female characters (as does the version in the OP).
