Is there any reason why you quoted me when you said that? lol. I don't think my post was talking about current or new players at all. Just talking about the possible instancing of the strongholds and no requirement for number of people who can enter.

I'll thank you for not trying to give me a lecture on business as I get plenty of them during term times, what I do know is that an apparent stoner is trying to give a very successful company hints and tips on how to develop their game with little to no foresight and apparently no research into what they're doing at present?
We already know they're making the game more accessible with tutorials as well as fixing the functionality of the game (See http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...193#post333193 for reference, which came out TODAY), so I'd say they've taken your advice on board already, if anything.

word of mouth method is by far the worst method to advertise a game. look at Heroes of Newerth for instance, it had no ads, no commercials, nothing. it struggled to maintain 30k people online at a time.

then look at League of Legends, they have ads everywhere, and have millions of people playing.

the player who comes back to the game when it is completely polished will spread advertisement through word of mouth, but not yet. they really need to focus on new player experience and basic UI / combat bugs and mechanics.

I have 3 friends i word of mouthed this game to and they quit within a week due to horrible ui (lag) and combat system being clunky as balls. this was during 1.18, or right before it came out.

I missed that before, but I'll address it now for your benefit. You're aware they're working towards the PS3 release as the last chance for this game right? I imagine they'll push advertising and awareness then, but right now (as evidenced by the fact they don't show the game at conventions etc) they want to keep it fairly quiet and just fix it up. Acquiring new players right just now isn't going to yield much revenue considering the game is so cheap, and it's free to play remember?

Good job for not reading further though, that really helps me respect your point of view, at least I did that courtesy for your poorly written pieces.

This was what I was commenting on with my previous post. Insulting others for their capability with the English language despite numerous variables such as second languages and dyslexia and then proving incapable of using it yourself is ironic and entertaining to me.

Edit: Also, League of Legends isn't really a comparable game to this, you might as well compare it with Runescape if you're looking at free-to-play as the benchmark. basic mechanics come first, fluff comes next. examine the old patches of the most famous mmo on the market for instance.

word of mouth is bad if that is the ONLY thing they used to advertise, but if they don't make their current playerbase happy, it definitely wont end well either when people decided to rageangry at gamesites that does reviews, this isnt something they should be taking a risk with.

Most people will read reviews before trying this game out because next advertisement will be re-release/second launch.

Sorry, but what? I've been at least giving your points the time of day but you seem to be pretty much disregarding what I'm saying. League of Legends is popular for different reasons such as it being FREE TO PLAY like I mentioned, you can't specifically say it's because of their marketing strategy specifically, even if it would help. This is why I said it wasn't comparable.

You didn't just say wall of text, hence me quoting the parts where you claimed to be a grammar nazi and said someone's post was pointless because of an incorrect use of the English language, I even quoted you on it, where's the confusion? As for my own grammar, I type pretty quickly and send a lot of well-written emails as part of my job, it comes naturally to me now so I apologise if you were happy to think it's something to do with you. It isn't.

As for your final point, 'perfecting the general mechanics of the game' takes more than just saying it. This is why you aren't running a large MMO and Yoshida is, he's aware of what needs to be done and has cemented it with the higher ups in the company. They're obviously confident in his direction because he's still there 8 months on and the game is still going. As I've said previously, and as they've said themselves, they're working towards the PS3 release as a 'second launch', acquiring new players isn't important to them at this exact moment and despite that we know for a fact they're working on tutorials for new players and dealing with important fundamental problems with the game.

Anyway, I won't be replying and restating these points again because it's apparent your glazed eyes cannot even reach the end of my post so you feel compelled to just say exactly what you've said before all the while trying to call me a 'dumb kid'.

Content is just as important as bug fixes if you ask me. If they would have focused on only fixing bugs and improving the game's UI then nobody would be playing at all. There wouldn't be anything to do.

And by the way, Fixy, if you're going to rip on people for their bad grammar, perhaps you should take a lesson in punctuation and letter case. Any first grader will tell you that all sentences start with capital letters and words like "doesn't" and "shouldn't" have apostrophes.

I really want that NM bosses mask and HtH weapon looks awesome! I hope I can get them for my Pug

On topic:

I'm really hoping that this will be open world content and that they use the new claim system to its full potential for it (ie: the boss requiring multiple parties to defeat and/or difficulty scaling in relation to players participating).

As someone who is highly against the new claim system, if they do this right I would accept their new claim system as a good decision. Fingers crossed..
