While I may not be as invested in the accomplishment as you are, I can appreciate the frustration. I really think that they should have two versions of the raids. They should always have the original version of the raid available, including an iLvl cap (for whatever the max gear was at the time). When they do decide to "nerf" the raid, they should add it as a separate instance option.
For the people that want to experience the content, in it's original form, the devs can give them an achievement with a title, so they can display their accomplishment with pride. For the more casual player, the "nerfed" version can also act as a practice run, for if and when they would like to experience the content themselves.
Like what they're planning to do with the Alexander Raid in the new expansion? Where there's a Easy mode, for everyone to clear with ease, and Hard mode where it's hardcore raid content with better drops but both sharing the same story?
Honestly the only reason I'm doing FCoB is not for the drops, or for the fights, but the damn story locked behind it. That's all I want it after that I'm not exactly touching the Coils anymore.
I do know the excited and joy of finally beating the wall to get to the next Coil like I did with T5, after so many failed attempts at it post-patch finally the small group of friends of mine and some randoms finally beat it and I could move to Second Coil. However in T9 I wanted to clear it but the mechanics there were too many for to properly memorize and not only that it was hard to find a group via PF and some people just leave after a wipe of two.
My FC had to come in and "carry" me through the fight (it took a second attempt at this because during the last phase someone got blindsided, a Healer, and the fight came down) by saying to die before Golems and I did and laid there on the group as the other 7 members of my FC. I wanted to do the fight properly but they said "No, no, it's alright! Just stay there and we'll give the clear to you so you can do FCoB with us!" and though I got the clear and I'm no hardcore raider I felt sort of "cheated" that I had to be carried to get to FCoB.
Though I don't really care that much as I wanted to beat it solely to see the story cutscenes and I refuse to watch it on YouTube as I want to see MY character in them and MY character interact with the cast.
I don't mind hardcore raids, but if you're locking a very vital story element behind it then make two separate modes for those who want the story and those who want better gear.
Would gladly take a Nexus light farm buff. I know we already got a light gain buff, but farming for 2000 light still seems pretty long lol. Be nice if they could cut it from 2000 pts to 1500 or something.
Final coil isn't at 20% yet. It's doesn't have any echo yet and this patch will likely add something.
I'll respond with another quote.
My friends and I are those network of capable players for a lot of people. I've walked in and in less than 5 tries gotten people wins when they had never even been in the fight before. We've done this well over a dozen times, probably closer to 20. This is an MMO. It's up to you to create a network of players to help you get things done.
Simply put you aren't surrounding yourself with skilled players to help you do things. This is an MMO. You must be social. If you still cant beat it with 20% echo then your social network is simply awful and that my friend is a personal problem. 20% echo and a entire 20 ilvls of gear higher than the fight was designed with is more than adequate to get a win by just knowing how the mechanics work. Stop expecting things to be handed to you. Stop complaining on the forums where you aren't getting anything done. Get in game. Make friends with players that are skilled enough to complete content. It is you who are continuously failing to do that. You may try to say this is all assumptions, and that I don't know anything about you. I back this all up with my personal experiences of helping people get wins over many months and knowing personally what I've seen work repeatedly. Just because you're already in a static doesn't mean it's full of quality members either. We had to prune our static for over a year before we had a true winning team so even just saying "but I'm in a static" is completely inadequate. If you aren't getting the win, and you are trying as you say, then you clearly don't have a skillful set of friends to play with or you wouldn't be here complaining still.
Take some personal responsibility for your progress.
Poetics weekly cap unlock...maybe? hopefully?
I'm pretty sure abandoning friends isn't a virtue that is going to change people's minds about content such as coil. That people feel the need to make these decisions seems pretty wrong IMO. Being on the business end of it feels even worse.
I totally gave up on my weapon after getting it to i100. Seriously, 9 hours of grinding atamas, and it actually used to be worse than this? Least fun thing I've ever done in a game. No way am I spending hours and hours doing more crap like that. I come home from work to have fun and that is not fun in the slightest!
Apparently they are changing the weapon quests in the expansion, so no point in it anyways. On another note, I have mad respect for those who have actually been able to complete the weapon to i135 status.
I've done the Atmas BEFORE the nerf... took me a month to get all 12 of them for my PLD (and less than a month for my NIN post-patch) and took me 13 days for Animus Books to be done, a little longer of NIN as I wasn't in a hurry.
Honestly I hate the Animus phase the most (though I think Zodiac Items will be there as well) as 9 books and not being all to have all 9 on you at a time to complete them post-haste. I wish they changed it that each book contains one group of objects to do like kill 50 enemies in this nation here and another 50 here. At least make it unique a bit.
I got my Zeta weapon for Ninja, but it was a pain at times to get the drops but I was lucky. 15 more to go for my Zodiac PLD weapon.
I'm kinda drained honestly.
There won't be a continuation of the Zodiac quest, it says in huge colored letters that the Zodiac quest has come to its conclusion when you receive your Zeta-weapon *sad-face
But I'm sure there is more stuff waiting for us in terms of "grind away your last braincells"
I did all 12 Atmas in the space of about six hours or so yesterday. Wasn't so bad, but I can see how people would have hated it when drop rates were bad. Was just about to get started on books, so I'm quietly hoping for a gentle buff to the later relic stages so maybe I stand a reasonable chance of getting a Zeta done before 3.0 for the sake of completionism.
Because nobody likes to spend hours training to win something only to have it then handed out later with little to no effort, it belittles their achievement. This is an MMO, it is assumed you meet and socialize with people building up a network. It doesn't require a static to beat anything in XIV, it is more efficient but not at all required.
In my opinion, those who are equipped to handle the real world will find themselves building that network with competent players. Those who are extremely introverted and only socialize with people who they don't feel threatened by in some sense may never end up with a network of confident players. You can't punish the whole for the failures of the few and in reality the new "story" and "savage" raid modes aim to resolve that.
BTW peeps T9 is not going to get nerfed... ever... just look at T5 how old is that fight? it got echo that's it. T9 got the changes it was going to get and SE has no reason to nerf it specially with coil not being a prerequisite to do alexander. so hold on to your panties if you're hoping for T9 nerfs. same will happen with T13
They will eventually "change" something to the Coils as Yoshi-P stated he wanted more people to experience the stories of the Coil seeing as it's a big part of the FFXIV lore.
Though what it is remains to be seen... could be an "Easy mode" like they're doing with the Alexander raid or something else.
I really hope it's a ton of QoL additions.
And Chocobo during Queue...
And a better solution to both RMT & TT Tournament Cheating.
It's actually not that bad. Farming 2000 Light meant 83 runs of non-bonus ST/WoD. Add in bonuses here and there, one could potentially do it in 40 hours or so, maybe. Someone (a regular office worker) in my FC finished the Nexus in like two weeks by always chasing bonus content. It takes some dedication but if you don't look at the goal, just keep progressing it's actually quite quick.
(...says the guy who's been sitting at less than 200 Light for 2 weeks...)
Ooh, ooh, can I play too? My expectations:
Extremely likely
- 10% echo added to FCoB
- Ability to queue solo for FCoB
- Zodiac item drop rates increased (+50% or +100%)
- Postmoogle cap dyable
- EDIT: "Postwoman" title changed to "Postmaster" (forgot about this one until someone else mentioned it, but it's definitely coming)
Maybes
- All i70 Artisan gear is now desynthable
- Zeta light increase (+50% or +100%)
- FCoB nerfs (turns T10, T11, and T12 only)
- Soldiery items are now desynthable
- Soldiery items can now be turned in for Grand Company Seals
- High Allagan items are now desynthable
- High Allagan items can now be turned in for Grand Company Seals
Wishful Thinking
- PvP Exp added to the Frontlines Roulette's daily bonus
- Chocobo Companions can be out while queuing solo via the Duty Finder
- Triple Triad matches can now be instantly canceled if your queue pops during a match
They are going to nerf Steps of Faith. It will now be fought in a small circle arena, the dragon won't move, and there won't be adds.
Also, they are adding Red Mage and Samurai.
Just to let you know, but the biggest thing story wise in coil was released officially to youtube by SE, it essentially answered the most important question from the end of 1.0, hate to say it, but that was SE way of ultimately letting the playerbase see the coil story for now.
They were talking about Cyclonic Chaos from T10, not Nanospore Jet from T11. :p
Anyway, it really is difficult to imagine much nerfs to the mechanics due to the way FCoB was designed. Adjusting them would be a really difficult task for the developers as to not disturb how they work. Heck, most of the fights in FCoB re-use the mechanics in the first phase, tweak it a little by adding something extra, then calling it a day. Damage-wise, like I said previously, is pretty much a given when it comes to nerfs.
Edit:
Just to reiterate on the whole 're-using mechanics' part (red for newly introduced mechanics);
FCoB - Turn 1
Phase 1Phase 3 (After first add set)
- Wild Charge
Phase 5 (After second add set)
- Wild Charge
- Heat Lightning
- Wild Charge
- Heat Lightning
- Cyclonic Chaos
FCoB - Turn 2
Phase 2 (After Barofield)Phase 4 (After Adds)
- Seed of the Seas and Seed of the Rivers
- Nerve Gas
- Secondary Head and Primary head
- Seed of the Seas and Seed of the Rivers
- Nerve Gas
- Secondary Head and Primary head
- Nanospore Jet
I want to take this moment to applaud the developers for adding literally one mechanic that completely changes the way you interact with the other mechanics in previous phases while easing you into the new mechanic. I think that's the part I like most about FCoB. :)
10% echo on FCoB is fine with me. Just means now i don't have to bring potions/pots/food depending on the turn. Saving money/resources, amen.
Meh. Light is easy. Grindy but easy. That said, it's probably my least favorite stage of the relic quest. I end up spiritbonding i70 gear in T4 and farming Zodiac drops (though this only works if you're on at least your second Zodiac).
It used to take more than 9 hours to get one atma for many people. For some it took weeks.
People have it so easy now. I farmed a full set in about 4-5 hours.
Animus isn't too bad if you open up your Zodiac quests again. Sometimes you get lucky with the dungeons that cross over between the two. When I did Aurum Vale for my book, I also got the Zodiac drop from it. Score! ;3
All of my yes please on this.
i may only be on turn 10 atm but im ok with the adding of Echo even if it just 10% to start of with or 15% like they did with Scob it will hopefully give me more stuff to do while i wait for new games / heavensward and be able to clear the final coil as im not in a static.
i know i might get bad comments for this but i believe everyone has the right to see all content in any game even if they have to nerf or add a echo amplifier to dungeon or raid and the content been out for ages and all the top guild / static have on farm status for weeks / months so i think it will be good to let alot of player who are slowly progressing in T9 and who are stuck in final coil to get there clear and end the raiding story of the game
If I were to randomly guess and hope, they'll be implementing the class quest epilogues mentioned here.
Would be a nice thought.
Maybe they'll just unlock all coil, so you can access any part of it you like. As in, removing T5 and T9 as gates for subsequent content.
10-15% Echo buff for FCoB
Poetic cap increase to 900
Moogle Cap can now be dyed
Coil time until boss enrages timer increased by 25-50%
Reasonable QoL adjustments, however the only thing that will change will be the moogle cap.
Coil does have a story and lore behind it, y'know. It's like a book. You don't spoil yourself by reading the final few pages to find out what happens in the ending only to return back to the page you were at to find out what happened. I like how they did it with the coils basically forcing you to go in order so you don't intentionally spoil yourself.
Edit:
Honestly, SE just give me;
And I'll be happy. :D
- High Allagan equipment is now dyeable.
All I want is the option to have controller default to commence instead of wait.
Oh, also: changing the Postman title to Postmaster, like it was promised. o/
Noooo! My muscle memory has already taken over this problem! If they switched it I'd be either almost always clicking wait or withdraw (depended on if they move the buttons or where the cursor lands by default) knowing SE it will probably lead to accidental withdraws instead. :(
As a couple of others have stated before, I REALLY would like to be able to turn in my old Soldiery gear for Grand Company seals.
