I don't think the majority of the complaints are that SMN is 'broken'. Just that, aesthetically, it could use some work. Whether or not the design time eventually deems that worthy is up to people posting and 'making waves' as you say.
But yes, anyone complaining SMN is 'broken' is more than a bit daft. It performs it's job very well.
