I'd be fine with it, I loved having my motorcycle in .hack so...

I'd rather not for two reasons.

First: There's enough lore-breaking stuff in the game as-is, largely from the cross-promotional events. They've been largely tame so far (other than the DQ events. That slime hat looks utterly ridiculous) and have only been clothing items. If they start introducing mounts, that'd break lore even further, as if to say "Why don't we have more vehicles like this about?" and suddenly, people question why we even bother with chocobos anymore. It's a mess.

Second: Motorcycles are fast. Like, really fast. Faster than every other mount in the game five-fold fast. So either they have to nerf a motorcycle to only be able to go 10MPH or less (which is unrealistic from a physics standpoint due to balance and momentum), or buff every other mount's speed to unrealistic levels just to make things fair.

thinking about it, if SE converted Shiva in a motorbike in FF13, they can Convert Lalafells in Motorbike in FFXIV.

Not like people have ever used motorcycles for war purposes or anything like that. That's completely crazy.

Whil a motorcycle would probably be faster, it's not exactly realistic now. We have the chocobo, which probably the closest real-world equivalent would be the ostrich. It can run what, 45 MPH and is one of the fastest land based birds if not the fastest. Next we have the unicorn mount, so we'll go horse. 25-30 MPH on average (yes yes the world record is faster but I find it hard to believe we all have record breaking mounts). So the chocobo should already be faster than the horse. Then you have the Gobbuue. It's a bipedal creature with short legs and you ride on top of it and it's top heavy. I doubt it could be faster than a human at walking speed despite it's increased size. So we'll say about what 5 MPH? So the chocobo is going about 9 fold faster than the gobbuue yet match speeds.

So I can agree immersion breaking but it's not like it's not already there.

No, I wouldn't mind more mounts, but there are serious things that are broken right now that should be dealt with. All hands on deck, as it were.

I'm fine with references and junk as long as they fit into this world. I just don't want them overtaking the lore of this one. Just having a casino named "The Golden Saucer" won't really mess with anything.
Having Clouds contemporary looking bike going 10 Mph, jumping, and making impossibly sharp turns for the sake of a reference? Not so much.
We're already pushing it with that great King Slime hat. It's fun, but really out of place.

Ok that makes sense. I would like to run a hypothetical by you and everyone who sees this since this is on the thread's subject. Let's say that Cid, Biggs and Wedge made a bike but it wasn't refereed to as "Cloud's Bike" and would only be used outside the continent of Erozea in the more open lands of Hydalyn (The game will be going there eventually) so that we don't have a big bulky bike turning on a dime as you said. Would you vote yea or ney?

Golden fleece for a mount!!! Bounce everywhere

While I love FFVII (I had the freaking buster sword mounted on my wall, a curio cabinet filled with just FFVII merchandise, my character’s last name is a subtle reference to Cloud), I really don’t want to see it in FFXIV.

It still bothers me that the melee limit break is a buster sword. FFVI magitek is badass (but have mixed feelings about it being in the game). FFXIII was way too much of a stretch.. I would love to see original elements and maybe more subtle references to other FF games. Not “Do this fate to look just like Lighting because everyone LOVES LIGHTING!”


Overall.. please no more mounts.. at least for a good while.. there are way to many mounts in this game already and everyone teleports anyways :\

I was never really impressed with VII personally. Yes it introduced us to FF in 3D and the possibilities that opened up, but for the most part the gameplay and story were lackluster or simply generic.

There are terrains where legged mounts (aka magitech armor) wouldn't really be convenient. Any place where wheels and traction are a good thing would necessitate the creation of wheeled vehicles. Yes, this is universal century gundam logic, but I can see it stretching to FFXIV if need be.
